Wow u didnt even seemed phased by that beautiful sea turtle. That was amazing, great video! Must have been so fun to explore these creatures in their world.
Well, true...Perhaps some people are interested in the turtle's patterns, or beauty all together. Sea Turtles live a very long time, and their markings can tell a story. It's not always what they do, but where they've been. Food for thought :)
I do love sea turtles as well. I saw a few on my dives last week and was very excited! However, they are much more common to find in the wild and they don't need as much time in the spotlight to represent their nature. No disrespect intended.
It’s like the mantis keeps entering the room for a flamboyant entrance but no one is there to appreciate him.... “haaaa... oh no one’s here...”. “Haaaayyy!!!! ... damnit”... “ heeyyy guys! It’s me!”
I know for a fact both contenders are bad asses in their own rite . Mantis for its power punch , and Cuttle fish for its brain power and hypnotizing light show effects . This should be a good one !
ranfromthe herd mantis shrimp are highly intelligent too- they recognize individual faces and their fishy neighbors whom they interact with. they're basically aliens.
What I observed about the smasher shrimp's eye is when it's actively hunting for food booth eyes will look around independently of each other until a good target is acquired then both eyes will acquire a lock on the target then move in for the kill.
Great filming! That's hard to do, esp when snorkeling. It's very clever how you staged the camera and wrangled the cuttlefish to it. You did such a great job!
Great footage. Thank you for posting this. Hans and Lotte Haas traveled the world observing & filming ocean creatures - They encouraged Marine Biologists to go to the habitat to learn, instead of dynamiting coral reef to bring to the lab for reassembly (the very old school method!) They believed it was vital to view creatures in their habitat to gather relevant information about behavior. (sorry, got a bit off topic)
1. That's is the pistol shrimp that does that, not the mantis shrimp, and that phenomenon only happens for a millisecond and it isn't even a punch just a massive amount of tension being released at once to fire a concussive blast for a small distance 2. Captain falcon does the same thing and his fist also reaches the temperatures of the sun and that is actually a punch
@@whateveryouwant4743 you know that Falcons actually punch? While, diving. At mach 7 speeds. Mantis shrimp punches mostly just destroy shells of other crustaceans, and the sun's surface is only so hot because there is so much of it. Meanwhile falcon punches are enough to dislocate the heads of creatures twice their size, so yeah falcon punch is better and yes, I know this is a joke.
Do you do a lot of diving? I want to go, but know absolutely nothing about it. I've heard Vietnam has some awesome scuba, and is basically the new Thailand since Thailand is so touristy now.
We do love to dive and have done it a few places, with Indonesia and Sipidan being the best. Don't know about Vietnam. Diving is easy really, just take a course (cheaper in Asia) and you won't regret it. Do it soon, the oceans are changing mighty fast.
Thank you SO much for sharing these clips--and your enduring efforts at getting good shots! I've long loved cuttlefish, though sadly, the only time I've seen one 'in the flesh' was in a shallow bucket at a Hong Kong fish market..:-( I'm so jealous of you right now!!!!!!
WOW! you have some INCREDIBLE footage of cuttlefish! it reminds me of how spaceships move around in movies! to me the ocean is where the Aliens of this world are! we might give them a name but looks pretty Alien to me. Great video!
Dude. Sick ass videos!! Man I would've spent a long ass time filming these guys and just watching them. Pretty raw shots!! Nice and up close! The Octopus was pretty scary to see squeeze in and out of things
Pretty sure that octopus you found at the end was dying -- Looked like a female who was either still helping some eggs or she was dying after having helped out the eggs. Octopus moms have to manually oxygenate their young so they will hide under places like that to safely do so.
Yeah I was thinking the same... She def didn’t look like she was in good shape. And they usually hide their eggs in hard to find places where they take care of them, keep them clean, away from predators, etc. I’m surprised no one else caught that!
I’m gonna assume your day job isn’t professional wildlife photographer/film maker, but this was some of the best cuttlefish footage I’ve seen!!! You clearly went to a lotta trouble and were rewarded with some amazing shots. Thanks for sharing!!!!☺️
Hey check out this video too, its a Mantis that grabs a fisherman's boot and punches a hole thru his water boot and draws blood and causing swelling fast. These guys are the badass' of the crustaceans.
The ability to change colors and texture so drastically is amazing. The closest we can come to that is a suntan and goosebumps.
poogoosee bagoomba and that increases chances for skin cancer
Well our ancestor never really had much need to be discount chameleons so...
Lolol

From what I've seen, the Mantis Shrimp solves all of its problems by punching them.
+Gurza
Like Saitama. Hehehe.
Gurza, yep. He needs to take anger management courses.
It's like all might
wedson soares I'm disappointed in myself for getting the refrence
There is a mantis shrimp that skewers it’s problems.
OH MY GOD THERE'S A CUTTLEFISH
*completely disregards the grazing sea turtle*
I wanted to see more of the turtle
Spoiler alert: The turtle sat there, not moving much

Patrick Beecroft It's all good :)
That funny mantis shrimp at the beginning playing "now you see me, now you don't."
It’s like the mantis keeps entering the room for a flamboyant entrance but no one is there to appreciate him.... “haaaa... oh no one’s here...”. “Haaaayyy!!!! ... damnit”... “ heeyyy guys! It’s me!”

This is the perfect video for me lol - add/adhd and a fascination for mantis shrimp and cuttlefish, since I was a kid xD
Same. Cuttlefish is my favorite wild animal!
What I observed about the smasher shrimp's eye is when it's actively hunting for food booth eyes will look around independently of each other until a good target is acquired then both eyes will acquire a lock on the target then move in for the kill.
3:20 focusing on cuttlefish
A WHOLE ASS SEAT TURTLE JUST CHILLIN
"...feet or hands or I dunno what to call 'em..." Murdersticks :D

Sebs Alvarado I see some weird shit in my history when I wake up

GREAT video, thank you so much for sharing part of your trip! I find Cephalopods absolutely fascinating, s well as mantis shrimp!
I was falling asleep with the relaxing sounds of the air bubbles.
Great footage of amazing underwater life. Thank you!
Not really my thing but your narration is natural and not exaggerated, cheers 👍
Nice filming. This looked like a lot of fun. Cuttlefish are just so weird.
Great footage.

If i ever come back as crustacean in another life, i hope its a Mantis shrimp or its next evolving cousin
5:31 JUST LEAVE ME ALONE!
Cuttlefish look like someone made a Funko Pop of Cthulhu.
Wow man, you got some really great footage of that cuttlefish.. amazing!!
Those two species are really the "Glam Rockstars" of the ocean. Good footage.
@1:00 I just love the perfect TIMING 🤣
That giant cuttle fish looks terrifying to be close to. I don't think that would stop me though
From cuddling it?
+Salmon Saladsandwich and swimming with it
The hairy chested guy is super cute.
Thank you so much for sharing your snorkeling trip with us, I really enjoyed it. Awesome footage.
Some great photography; I very much enjoyed watching these creatures close up in their natural habitat. Many thanks :)
Great shots, hard work! Awesome and thank you!
😂😂😂 550 reminded me of a cartoon. Greatt videos.
A genuine alien world down there. Life is do different in these places to the terrestrial.
Are we sure cuttlefish aren't aliens? They look unreal...
screw falcon punch, we need mantis shrimp punch
David Dylan a punch so powerful that the mere force tears the water apart, heating it up to the heat of the sun...yeah falcon doesn't even compare xD

This is great. Mantis shrimp i love em. 😉
That octopus reminded me of a heart pumping but with tentacles and eyes....
3:31 ignoring the giant sea turtle 🐢
Looks like the mantis shrimp are very dominant, doesn't matter about their size. (scary !!).
Is the mantis shrimp a smasher or spearer?
Great work . close ups are amazing
Good video, thanks for sharing!
Great video. Thumbs up.
Nevermind the big frikin turtle.

wow i saw sea turtle so beautiful
Once I went night diving and I found a sleeping one. I gently touched it to see if it would wake up but it stayed asleep.
It pops up and down like a creepy puppet.
They both look delicious.
Seaclown is what that animal is called by me
Great show, amazing world beneath us
