The trackpoint is what makes a ThinkPad a ThinkPad. Lenovo also makes very high end models of the ideaPad for those who don't like the trackpoint.

85% off the time I use the trackpad on my Thinkpad. But when I'm cramped on a bus or plane, or have it on my knees the trackpoint is a God send. Lenovo... Don't remove it. Options with this little downside are always better. But also make your trackpads better

I sometimes have to work outside (robotics stuff) and in the winter I can wear gloves and still use the mouse thanks to the TrackPoint while the other people have their hands freezing in the cold because gloves don't work with the TouchPad (: yeah I know there are touch gloves, but ones that work well are expensive and in any case I tried both solutions and the TrackPoint is just better and more precise

Not only does this exact trackpad work fine wearing latex or nitrile gloves but no chemistry or medical practitioner should be using their laptop with gloves on.
Most safety procedures require you to take them off before touching basically anything you use without gloves.

I bought a T420 years ago, and thought the trackpoint was stupid. Didn't use it for the longest time. Then out of the blue, I told myself that I would try using it for at least a week, to see if it's better. Years later, and I might as well just remove the touchpad, because the trackpoint is the bomb diggity.
The funniest thing, is how amazing it is in gaming. People don't understand. You literally have a joystick in the middle of the keyboard. Playing something like World of Warcraft, is somewhere in-between a mouse, and a touchpad. Highly usable.

They could at least use a different material for the trackpad itself and even find some ways to perhaps enlarge it slightly (maybe making the trackpoint buttons above the trackpad slightly smaller? spitballing here). There's definitely room for improvement.
But then I'd just argue, if you're not a fan of the trackpoint/trackpoint buttons above the trackpad, go for the C940. Kind of solves all the issues.

Since I'm stuck with it I thought I will include some functionality. So in the settings I set it up so that it only responds to touch at the lower portion and its function is to scroll. I can't remember which applications they were, but for some reason the scrolling did not work using the middle button (even on a mouse's wheel) but did work with the scroll on the trackpad. Only used the lower portion so won't accidently engage it. This freedom is definitely missed when having to work on public computers and letting go of the keyboard for every mouse function. Why did LTT start reviewing laptops in a worse way than Verge? I like Alex on other videos but your Laptop reviews are so shallow and not up to LTT standards imo. You overlook a lot of points and complain about unimportant things. I am not a thinkpad fanboy, in fact I hate some of the characteristics of them. But having used 5 different laptops(including one thinkpad) last year, I can prepare a much more insightful “review” than this video.
NOT UP TO LTT STANDARDS. And this goes for every LTT laptop video made last year.
Even your sponsored ad videos are better than your Laptop reviews.

Wow I was wondering what this strange feeling was, until I got to this comment. It was that sh*tty feeling I feel when I see shallow reviews from the guys like the Verge. Who could have expected this to happen from LTT video. :P
