I speak with Adam about the concept of collapse and the various theories surrounding it, the likelihood of nuclear war as a primary cause of collapse, and the adaptability of complex systems. We also touch on the desire for revolution and the disconnect between online narratives and the real world. The conversation delves into the yearning for a different way of life and the challenges of escaping modernity, the impact of urbanization, immigration, and comparative advantage in different countries, the complexities of development, and the interconnectedness of the world. Our conversation also explores the crisis of competence in modern society and the decline of certain industries and professions, the perception that young people are checked out and not interested in high-status jobs, as well as the potential lack of competence in certain skilled trades.

This dude pretty much makes total sense to me. One minor caveat would probably be, that those starter homes (if Gen Z home ownership is actually that high, not sure if that's worldwide or whatever) are not going to have the same kind of equity as more evolved Pokemon homes, perhaps like a Charzard home.
If Zillennials also have inflated credentials, less job security, and less savings?
However, ostensibly on the upside, wage inflation and labor demand are high, with a shrinking workforce?
It sounds like a recipe for making good money, but spending all the money, and having an unpredictable career path and discontinuous lifestyle, employable until the day you die, but also working until the day you die.
If you tease it apart, in spite of the fact that someone like the excellent Jean Twenge points out how earnings are technically high adjusted for inflation, it doesn't change the fact that the Boomers' 50 yr blowout party is over, and we be like, low-key grindin' it out.

Energy always takes the path of least resistance. Whether you are talking about class or anything else, like Marx said, shit would have to get really REALLY bad before its the path of least resistance.

Yea 10 min in and his take on property ownership is pretty boomer tier. He’s also totally disconnected from even his grandparents era where men became established very young, or ally through inheritance or being cut into a family business, and than found a wife. 1940-now is a total anomaly and why it subconsciously feels unnatural.

There's just one big missing part of this convo, which is that the end of the globalization era means the world is about to change. A lot. I bet Peter Zeihan would actually come on this show, if you sent an invitation, maybe a gift basket.

Zeihan? No. Converged. His bad takes and imaginings on the USA's Ukraine proxy war are bad enough.

Yeah, Zeihan is the opposite side of the collapse coin: "Russia's economy is about to collapse " "China has only months left"
