STREET RUNNING STEAM LOCOMOTIVE IN INDONESIA

Finally this unique locomotive is back in operation! After resting for a long time due to the pandemic, the unique attraction of Solo City, the Jaladara Train, is finally running again.
The Jaladara train or train is a special tourism train attraction in the city of Surakarta or Solo. Inaugurated on September 27, 2009, this train is served by Steam Locomotive C1218 serving the Purwosari route to Solo Kota for about 5.6 kilometers. On February 16, 2020, the Jaladara train received an additional fleet in the form of a series of trains. This series consists of the steam locomotive D1410 and the Djoko Kendil train. The locomotive underwent restoration at Balai Yasa Yogyakarta in mid-2019 and was completed at the end of that year. In early 2020, the locomotive was tested and sent to Solo. The delivery journey is quite unique where half of the way it runs on its own power and the rest it is driven by TMC.
However, the Covid-19 pandemic that hit Indonesia in mid-March 2020 made the action of loco D1410, including the Jaladara train, have to stop. After a few months, in mid-October 2021, the Jaladara train, especially locomotive D14, is ready to take action, offering the sensation of a unique and memorable tourist trip in the city of Solo.
On October 16, 2021, Jaladara train with locomotive D1410 finally got its first guest after the pandemic. This is of course not to be missed by train lovers, aka railfans. At some point they have been waiting for the action of the Steam Locomotive, for example in the Bengkong Rail area. It appears that regular users of the Purwosari-Wonogiri rail line are passing, namely the Batara Kresna Railbus. From Bengkong Rail, train lovers head to the eastern area of ​​Purwosari Station. Again, the Batara Kresna Railbus was seen returning to the Solobalapan Depot. Not long after, the Jaladara train series with locomotive D1410 slid out of the Purwosari Dipo towards the station. While waiting for the Jaladara train passengers, the railfans headed to the Bengkong Rail area. Not long after, the Jaladara train was seen crawling along the rail line in the middle of this unique city of Solo. Along the way, railfans followed this train, to its first stop, Loji Gandrung. Here, we can observe closely the Jaladara train fleet which is more than a century old. A few moments later, the Jaladara train departed again and the railfans were still faithfully guarding its journey. Sometimes the trip had to be stopped because of a red light. The railfans also have to be extra careful because they walk on a fairly congested road. Until finally, the Jaladara train crossed the Slamet Riyadi Statue area, and turned towards the Solo Kota station.
At Solokota Station, the Jaladara train stops for a moment while loco D1410 fills up with water for the return journey. Loko then shunted to reverse its position. Loko moved east, changed lanes, then returned to the Jaladara train line. The locomotive was then assembled with a series of trains, and prepared to return to Purwosari. The railfans also moved quickly, ahead of heading to the City area. But apparently, the trip had to be a little disturbed because of a slight obstacle on the locomotive. Then, a TMC unit was brought from Purwosari to help. The TMC was attached to the Jaladara train, and pulled it back to Purwosari. Hopefully, the pandemic will pass soon, life can return to normal, and the Jaladara train can continue to operate to enliven the world of tourism.
