AOE damage is more significant P2W part - because at 6/6 he decreases 100% of the damage he deals (essentially having double damage if it does less than 30%), at 1/6 only 30%. So AOE of 1/6 have 130% of its damage, and at 6/6 its 200% Meaning AOE skill of 1/6 Escanor is trash.
Escanor is a really good unit, but the neccesity for us to have him 5/6 to max out his passive from his ultimate is in my opinion a little too high. The incinerate on his aoe is barely noticable at 30 % and ok at best at 60%. The explosion not even being a thing at 1/6 is not cool. I wish he wasnt so dupe hungry, since i only managed to get one pity escanor from my saved gems, since i did one rotation at collab. I hope i get him to at least 3/6 so the incinerate is at least decent.
In the Spanish speaking community the general image of escanor is that he is weak kinda like Arthur when he released. I think it originated from a youtuber that did like 80k damage with escanor's ult

What people mean, I think is that you have all costumes + maxed out, you have all equipment maxed out + all 15% stats and you have a 6/6 super passive. Average + FTP players, don't have that. So, after watching some of these PTP RUclipsrs, their Escanor feels pretty weak even in the PVE end game.

Be 16 million+. 6/6 a dupe hungry unit. Go against all but 1 bot. "Content". Regardless, the AoE doing damage doesn't mean the AoE isn't a bad skill. If this character - for example - had T2's AoE instead, he'd be hitting that much harder. Point is, his AOE sucks in multiple ways. No additional crit chance. I will elaborate on this a bit later. Double pierce isn't bad, but nothing a festival ult should be based on. Ignoring resistance is mid at best and ignoring defense is worse than ignoring air resistance, because air resistance at least does something at high velocity. So, we conclude, his AoE is effectively just a worse pierce AoE. Compare that to i.e. God Meli, who has an AoE that gets up to 240% damage increase in 4v4. Yes, totally the same scale.... Escanors AoE is missing 2 crucial things. Crit chance modification and damage increase. The latter he avoids with King, as Kings damage increase at least gets him out of the dreadful 0% (40% damage increase on a unit is significantly more than 40% - i.e. on a target with 20% damage reduction, it amounts to an effective damage increase of 62.5%. At 50% damage reduction, it's a whopping 80%.) The crit stats are helped by the condiff. Condiff, constellation difference, is a massive factor. In a nutshell, constellations gives 4+x the amount of crit res and crit def than crit chance/damage. This is pretty easy to see. The bots nag showed up against all had pretty low CC even for bots in challenger. This means the enemy accounts constellation level wasn't equal. At a similar level, escanor will hit ~1 crit on average per AoE which is terrible for his damage output. TL;DR: Constellation Diff + King make his AoE deal damage here. His AoE is objectively seen the worst on a festival character for at least a year.
Im one of those people saying that escanor is unfortunately mid but im trying to be open minded. My biggest issue is his kit doesnt seem very future proof in any aspect so hes going to get power crept like tomorrow and considering hes an anni unit. Everyone saying he kills is using a lvl 3 rank skill. I just remember when T1 came out (pause) he could fit in any team and annihilate. I dont get that vibe with this esca. His beginning animation is sick tho. Also demon king meli is a great example of someone who actually does damage even with a level 1 card

His damage is not special and he has so much of his passive focussed on when your characters die, which is the last thing you should be wanting to happen in a battle. I will say that out of all the showcases I have seen your Escanor seems to be hitting the hardest, which I assume is because your's is 6/6 and your box CC is through the roof? Since your able to get a team to 386k and the most I can manage with full LRs is 320k. You are right about his Ultmate. I'm not sure what they were thinking. Its like they are really trying to avoid power creep. Like there have been many great units recently, but they all seem to be as great as each other in various ways but none (aside from DK Meli) seem to be a huge leap foreward, which is what I was hoping Escanor would be, but isn't. Perhaps it is because they focus on the PVP battles when designing units and as you said, maybe don't want to create a scenario where "New unit = instant win". Which does make sense. Its a weird situation, I almost feel bad for feeling disappointed but I just feel like his damage is not great.
It's quite stupid to call Escanor mid. Like he is not just a damage based character - and he might be too complicated for some people to use correctly. But like most fests, he defines the meta. Unknown is basically out of the equation (except some cheese ult rush), and Gelda as good as dead if she goes second. Looking at Ban's consistency (he was always an average fest damage wise, even after buff), and how he outlived the overhyped Tyr and DK - it's easy to predict his longevity.

2:30 i agree he's strong imo bc he can affect the entre match and he doesn't have to do the damage necessarily. he dies and give allies a pretty good damage buff, i"ve brought matches back 2v3 because of it. then when it's him 1v2 or 3 he gets such high atk this single target slaps. his stopping of extra hp on enemies is very helpful as well! i can understand ppl saying he's bad bc most players will have 1 copy. i tried him 1/6 and he was ight, so i can see how he could be viewed as bad from lower box cc players
I just got back to the game. My mains are demons, and i go Zeldris DK. 1800 gems+ but I'm thinking about doing only one rotation on this banner and save for the end of the year festival. Would it be wrong? I don't have the sins or humans teams.
With this banner you can assemble a sinful team, if the banner treats you very well, do not do the 2nd rotation, according to leaks, a 2nd part percival is coming
New escanor is prob better fighting the bird because of his 2nd skill and it actually does alot of dmg in comparison with the last one's 2nd skill, that only does huge damage in pvp in a situation escanor actually gets low in hp
he is not weak at all, however he is less impressive than other escanors have been on release and he is less of a powercreep than meli and demon king were too which I think is why people are saying he is weak.
I said it once and ill say it again. KR players specifically aren't complaining about his potential at 4/6+. They say he is too underpowered at 1-2/6 and will quickly fall off as a selfish dps who offers little support, when his dps isnt even phenomenal compared to other options on his teams. LR escanor has more ST dps turn 2. And T1U is better for PVE. So this guy is simply there for his HP mechanic + on death buff. They also say he is too squishy to be a UR fest, like Gowther. Meliodas is simply better designed and Escanors HP drain should have been at 1/6.

The thing is that your Escanor now has already been buffed. Original ST skill, for instance, delt 150% damage, now it deals 200%, and so on.
Use him at 1-2/6 not on a 16m box cc acc and without the rank up and you will see that he doesn’t do anywhere near the damage a ani should be doing

Idea: OG glue eater revamped. UR Gowther - Queen Liz - Indomitable Escanor - DK Meliodas. Basically an upgraded version of glue eater

Regardless, the AoE doing damage doesn't mean the AoE isn't a bad skill.
If this character - for example - had T2's AoE instead, he'd be hitting that much harder. Point is, his AOE sucks in multiple ways. No additional crit chance. I will elaborate on this a bit later. Double pierce isn't bad, but nothing a festival ult should be based on. Ignoring resistance is mid at best and ignoring defense is worse than ignoring air resistance, because air resistance at least does something at high velocity.
So, we conclude, his AoE is effectively just a worse pierce AoE. Compare that to i.e. God Meli, who has an AoE that gets up to 240% damage increase in 4v4. Yes, totally the same scale....
Escanors AoE is missing 2 crucial things. Crit chance modification and damage increase.
The latter he avoids with King, as Kings damage increase at least gets him out of the dreadful 0% (40% damage increase on a unit is significantly more than 40% - i.e. on a target with 20% damage reduction, it amounts to an effective damage increase of 62.5%. At 50% damage reduction, it's a whopping 80%.)
The crit stats are helped by the condiff. Condiff, constellation difference, is a massive factor. In a nutshell, constellations gives 4+x the amount of crit res and crit def than crit chance/damage.
This is pretty easy to see. The bots nag showed up against all had pretty low CC even for bots in challenger. This means the enemy accounts constellation level wasn't equal. At a similar level, escanor will hit ~1 crit on average per AoE which is terrible for his damage output.
TL;DR: Constellation Diff + King make his AoE deal damage here. His AoE is objectively seen the worst on a festival character for at least a year.
Im one of those people saying that escanor is unfortunately mid but im trying to be open minded. My biggest issue is his kit doesnt seem very future proof in any aspect so hes going to get power crept like tomorrow and considering hes an anni unit. Everyone saying he kills is using a lvl 3 rank skill. I just remember when T1 came out (pause) he could fit in any team and annihilate. I dont get that vibe with this esca. His beginning animation is sick tho. Also demon king meli is a great example of someone who actually does damage even with a level 1 card

This character is bananas, but on the real at 1/6 escanor is meh until you get him higher than that. Its not like gelda who could still put in pain and her ult being 6/6 isnt a must unless you going against whales. For escanor you need a dupe or your playing half the character.
You actually never get someone to tell that Escanor is bad but you'll always have someone tell you that "some people are saying he is bad but not me"

I do not think that the new Escanor is strong enough. Sorry not sorry. His damage is not special and he has so much of his passive focussed on when your characters die, which is the last thing you should be wanting to happen in a battle. I will say that out of all the showcases I have seen your Escanor seems to be hitting the hardest, which I assume is because your's is 6/6 and your box CC is through the roof? Since your able to get a team to 386k and the most I can manage with full LRs is 320k. You are right about his Ultmate. I'm not sure what they were thinking. Its like they are really trying to avoid power creep. Like there have been many great units recently, but they all seem to be as great as each other in various ways but none (aside from DK Meli) seem to be a huge leap foreward, which is what I was hoping Escanor would be, but isn't.
Perhaps it is because they focus on the PVP battles when designing units and as you said, maybe don't want to create a scenario where "New unit = instant win". Which does make sense. Its a weird situation, I almost feel bad for feeling disappointed but I just feel like his damage is not great.
It's quite stupid to call Escanor mid. Like he is not just a damage based character - and he might be too complicated for some people to use correctly.
But like most fests, he defines the meta. Unknown is basically out of the equation (except some cheese ult rush), and Gelda as good as dead if she goes second. Looking at Ban's consistency (he was always an average fest damage wise, even after buff), and how he outlived the overhyped Tyr and DK - it's easy to predict his longevity.
he is not weak but he should be different from the last one ultimate he will just like damage machine and thats it it will not long enough we will get new power creep soon. the point is he is anniversory character he should be something more do more like future proof unit atleast one year they should give him more utility for other teams not selfish unit he should have more teams, more damage increase for teams, good ult like mael very helpful for pve also, more toxic like liz or purg ban that we have for pravoius annivorsories. he should have self cleanse also. i hope you understand the point what i am saying. its like he is missing something. he should be like fitoria for humans and sins. he is like pure whale unit also just compare the damage of aoe card 2\6 and 6\6 with going second you will get the idea.

I got dk meli at pity, Arthur from a 3 ssr summon, gowther on a 2 ssr summon and every collab unit from my summons and I didn't reach pity... Needless to say that I will get super mega shafted this banner. I also only have 49 diamonds 😭

he's strong imo bc he can affect the entre match and he doesn't have to do the damage necessarily. he dies and give allies a pretty good damage buff, i"ve brought matches back 2v3 because of it. then when it's him 1v2 or 3 he gets such high atk this single target slaps. his stopping of extra hp on enemies is very helpful as well!
i can understand ppl saying he's bad bc most players will have 1 copy. i tried him 1/6 and he was ight, so i can see how he could be viewed as bad from lower box cc players

I said it once and ill say it again. KR players specifically aren't complaining about his potential at 4/6+. They say he is too underpowered at 1-2/6 and will quickly fall off as a selfish dps who offers little support, when his dps isnt even phenomenal compared to other options on his teams. LR escanor has more ST dps turn 2. And T1U is better for PVE. So this guy is simply there for his HP mechanic + on death buff. They also say he is too squishy to be a UR fest, like Gowther. Meliodas is simply better designed and Escanors HP drain should have been at 1/6.

for small accounts, escanor will be mid tier or you whales with big accounts you will have a strong escanor without even forgetting the characters who will be in your team. escanor is strong but nothing more
