Reporters all have to stand in the water or in this case mud to add that extra drama. I’ll never forget this, we had a hurricane coming to New Orleans and we drove past lake pochartrain lake. They had a reporter making a live broadcast and she was acting like she could barely stand straight because of the winds and behind her a little boy and his father walked into her scene like nothing was going on. It is things like this that make these reporters look like complete idiots. I’ve lost respect for the new generation of journalists.

Rains like this are very common in south Florida we have monsoon climate so most to the rain falls over short but heavy period of times of throughout the day in the summer months but the land here and limestone bedrock have evolved with this weather and the soil in Florida is basically like sponge that soaks everything up while in California it’s a dusty semi arid soil and the mountainous terrain doesn’t help
You do not have storms in FL where cities are inundated with a year's worth of rain in a day.

I'm in Thousand Palms, Yes it's the desert and yes those were really our roads in the beginning of the segment. We are on high land so we didn't flood, but other homes did and are still flooded.
The trucks double parked out on the 10 about a couple blocks from me had no place to go. The freeway was closed about a 20-30 mile stretch into Banning. The freeway was opened late this afternoon heading east. Haven't heard if it was open heading west as of evening time. The train tracks were washed out just south of the 10. It will be weeks before we are all dug out. What worse, by weds. The temps will be back in the 100"s. 109^ by Friday.
