People who chose to discredit Goff don’t understand the position of Quarterback in The NFL! His job is to lead this offense and the offensive game plan with as few or no turnovers to a victory over his opponents! Look at his overall body of work! He has done it better and more efficient in his three year period than any other QB for the Lions in Modern Football Era! (Super Bowl Era) Check the records people! Wake up!!!

I don't usually rank QBs, except for Mahomes being #1 and everyone else chasing. The success of most other QBs depend mostly on circumstances. For instance, Sam Darnold now is playing at an MVP level. Why now instead of before? His circumstances has changed, but his qualities haven't. It isn't a knock at Goff to add him to the long list of QBs who's level of success largely depends on circumstances. Goff is one of--if not the-best play-action QBs in the entire NFL. Goff at his best also passes with impeccable timing--hence 18 for 18 against Seattle. When the timing isn't there, rather from pressure or rust, Goff struggles. The Lions have crafted an offense to allow Goff to be the best Goff, and that Goff is capable of leading the Lions to Super Bowl win. Except for Mahomes that is the best I will say about any QB. I have my thoughts on why Goff struggled the first two games this season. The timing wasn't there. Why? Goff didn't play or take a hit this preseason (as an aside, Sam Darnold and Jayden Daniels did). So Goff, though a veteran, wasn't up to the speed he's have to face in the regular season. I feel he's up to regular season game speed now. He has taken his hits and he has adjusted to games than count.
I hope you don't think I'm being harsh on the guy. There aren't many QBs I'd take for the system the Lions have created. With a dominant run game and a strong offensive line, I love Goff's accuracy and precision. That works with this Lions team. But the Lions need to remember the running game and not allow their QB to throw 55 times, especially in a one score game. That's not playing to Goff's strengths. 12 play-action passes in 18 attempts after establishing the run is EXACTLY playing to Goff's strengths.
Patrick Mahomes also has circumstances. You don't get this far without having top 32 qualities and skill. Sometimes you play for complete idiots that don't understand you and try to force you to do things that don't work well because they didn't draft you. Other times, You are in the wrong scheme or the wrong city and just don't click. IN Sam Darnolds case he was never given a far shake. IN 2018 Darnolds best receivers were Quincy Enunwa & Robbie Chosen. Hardly top tier talent. It never got much better either. Maybe Damarious Thomas and Jamison Crowder in 2019 were a leg up but hardly at the peak of their careers. Thomas was done, Crowder was good, not great. Chosen was about the same, good not great. I would argue that Darnold has always had the qualities to be a great QB, he is a little older and wiser now, and has always had an accurate cannon for an arm. He has better coaching around him and a few playmakers. Which every QB Needs. As far as Goff I just proved in this video that Goff under the 2nd most pressure all season had his best game, so you cant say pressure is a problem. That was literally the whole point of the video.

Goff will have to win a SB before he gets full blown respect, unfortunately. He has a great OL, 2 fantastic backs to run play action with, a fantastic TE and multiple receivers. Goff has a plethora of weapons. A SB win will be the only way. Goff can't carry a team with minimal surrounding talent like elite QB's can. Goff is a very good QB but needs a Lombardi to get the full blown respect.

How many NFL QB's have more Offensive talent at his disposal than Goff? From an OL, LaPorta at TE, Montgomery and Gibbs carrying the ball and receiving out of the backfield, Wr's that range from possession to burners. I went through the entire NFL and could NOT find another team that has more talent than Goff at his disposal. So while Goff is very good, he's not an elite QB. Goff makes too many mistakes given a large sample size. Not 1 game going 18 for 18, but over a full season and playoffs. That's why he's not fully respected. He's a very good QB but not one I'm putting in the top 8.

LaPorta was a rookie, Gibbs a rookie, Amon Ra a 4th round draft pick that Goff molded to be great, an offensive line that ranks in the top 5. Montgomery was a bottom ranked RB before coming to Detroit never had a 1000 yard season, Jameson didn't do anything until this season, Reynolds is not a top 64 WR, so you might want to rethink your math here. Working with rookies and having success in year one with multiple rookies is not something that happens very often. SO is it the player or the coach? the QB or the player? Even more so the Oline is a top 3 and is what all QBs want and honestly none of the SB winners in recent seasons had an oline outside the top 8 or a defense outside the top 10. I think you forget that the Lions have never had a defense and the wins the last 90% of games since 2022 have been at the hands of Goff and the offense, not the defense.

You're acting like this man didn't stink up the place the last few games by misfiring passes (except hitting DB's on the numbers) and throwing skip passes in the dirt!
He played monday night like the contract he acquired this summer.

Contract? He is making the same amount as schedule. His contract doesnt kick in till 2025. Skip passes were meant to throw the ball away without taking a sack or intentional grounding on all but 1 play. Only 1 interception was JGS fault, again backed by tape, Jamo was held and interfered with on the play. Lastly, all QBs have bad games from time to time, if you dont believe that then maybe you need to watch some more games. Lions are 3-1 and when the defense sucked for 3 seasons Goff won the majority of the games with his arm. This is the 1st season we have had a defense since 2021.
He looked like a bafoon in Texas and made Detroit look bad dummy.
