A Strat should always first and foremost sound like a Strat, some guys ruin them by putting strange combinations of pick ups in them, cant figure it out, buy another guitar!

I can't tell you how many guitars that have really grabbed and spoke to me on another level. This thing is doing just that. What a piece. And it's being stroked by the perfect hands to show off the deep, rich tones that are inside that beauty. Fender outdid their selves with this one...

Beautiful instrument. I was torn between a Rarities Strat and an Ultra. I went for the Ultra. In the end, there were still compromises that I was going to make going with the Rarities. There will be no compromises above $2000. For me, anything above $2000 will be a custom shop or a lucky shot. That's why the Silver Sky stayed on the shelf in its scooped-mids gig bag glory too.

Jazz Guitar Noob that’s one of my favorite chord voicings, it’s so super easy!
You can play it with 4 fingers, one for every string, starting with your first finger on the low e.
You can also play it with only 2 fingers, Second finger on the low e string and then barre the other strings with your third finger.
For „reinforcement purposes“ you can put your first finger up on your second, this way you can push the low e string down properly and mute the a string.
      Such a fun chord voicing!

Now the proud owner of Strat in video and is the best of the 3 Strats that I own.The neck ,although modern C profile, feels chunkier than my American Standard but very comfortable, setup is excellent. Has a lovely full sound but still retains that classic midrange honk or quack.Pricey but well worth it.

I agree. I am not really overly impressed with the guitar itself as there is nothing new here other than the look, the pickup covers, and that really means that even it's resale value will be lower than a regular strat that everyone likes.
Impulse buying is what Fender counts on with guitars like this. It is part of the marketing strategy.

Boy I'd love a high quality Strat.
I just sold my MIM Strat to help fund a Charvel. The Charvel is HSS, so I thought it might cover the Strata single coil sounds from the neck, while being able to shred from the bridge. And all the little are a huuuuge step up from the Mexi.
It has a gorgeous contoured neck joint - the best I've ever seen or touched. Second only to neck-thru.
It has caramelized maple neck, rolled edges, Tusq nut cut perfectly.
It has a Gotoh trem that works like a well oiled machine. It's range is between a standard Fender Strat, and a Floyd Rose. It's fantastic compromise, and executed with excellence.
Locking tuners, Duncan pups, there are no week points to this guitar...but it doesn't make up for not having a Strat!
It seems, if you want Strat tones...you gotta get a Strat!
Strat tones are so beautiful, and I'd love to have them, but they would always be just my secondary tone. My primary tone is a good dose of gain.
Anyway, the point is...while I miss the Strat tones...and listening to Pete bring the we from a good Strat just amplifies this longing...but I just cannot justify one!
The MIM wasn't good enough. Decent, but not great. And since my other guitars are great, I would never pick up a second rate guitar.
So I would need to spend top dollar ($2.5-3K (AUD) for my secondary tone. For that money , I could get a phenomenal superstrat. To suit my primary tone...or even a second hand, or entry level Gibson or PRS.
So, like I said...I would love a high quality Strat.....but until I start playing like Danish Pete here, I have to triage my limited funds into humbucker rockers, not cleanmasters! 🙂

I'm privileged to own one of these. The overwound single coil pickups over a little less high end than your normal strat pickups, but I've found that by rolling off the volume a couple ticks and putting the tone about 4 or 5 helps puts the guitar in a sweet spot of response and sustain. Through more distorted settings, the single coils SING with a familiar stratty character but with a much different profile than I'm used to. The 2nd pickup position is one of the most stable that I've played on an HSS config. Never played a filtertron mixed with a single coil... it has to be the only guitar I've found with that combination. It has to be worthy getting for that setting alone. I can't find a way to make that setting sound bad.

Sir Kenzington nah, binding on a Strat makes it even more weird.
Generally Fender guitars don’t work well with a binding.
The only exception to this rule is the custom Tele, which is the only Fender that can get away with a binding.
If you want a guitar like this with a nice top, go get a PRS.
Unfortunately I can’t remember the name of the vaguely Strat styled one.
I’m not speaking about the John Mayer Signature guitar, I’m talking about the more super Strat styled model with the 3 slim and tall humbuckers which you can split.

I paused the video 20 seconds into talk about the"Jazz Strat". That thing is like the custom type of guitar that I have been dreaming of somebody inventing and marketing one of these since I was a teenager and I'm almost 50. The blinding that goes up the neck?I have always wanted a Stratocaster this binding on the neck. It's just so aesthetically pleasing to my eye. I don't exactly love, but I can deal with the body not being cut out for belly carves and comfort curves. Simply because I've always wanted a bound neck Stratocaster with the headstock painted same color as the body, and I set of P-90's inside that bad boy!

Pete: lt would be nice if you would give the guitars lay out before you start playing because it's hard to tell what pick-up is in the bridge position because your arm covers it while your playing. And given the introduction as a 50's strat I was expecting three single coils but from what I ' can ' see it doesn't look like that's what's in the bridge spot?

Great again Pete... hey every music store also sells plenty of song books and lesson books, maybe you and Lee could do reviews of some of what's out there , for beginners, and intermediate players. Or maybe even put out your own course books and all on reading music etc .

I'm not quite sure what's 50s about it, but it's a very pretty guitar. Sounds good too.

About the closest thing to the 50s is the art-deco styling of the top, but that's tenuous at best!

    • @jonathanhandsmusic
      @jonathanhandsmusic 4 года назад

Yeah. It's pretty but not very 50s. But I guess if you don't know what a 50s Strat looks like it wouldn't matter. Seems like Fender is trying hard to put out as many variations on their basic design as they can. Marketing.

I have this guitar and love it. Only complaint is that the gold leaf on the pickups are so thin. Might be my playing style but the gold leaf on the neck pickup has worn through already. Would have been nice if they would have covered them with a clear lacquer or something.
