Back in 1989 I purchased a new RM 250 and out of all the MX bikes I had owned over the years I enjoyed racing and riding it the most. The 1989 Suzuki dirt bikes were totally redesigned with upgraded suspension, engine and frame geometry, it was rated very high for it's handling and suspension fill compared to the competitions which made it very easy and enjoyable to ride .
Yeah i really like rmx 250. I had one long time ago. 1991 year model was it. One of all my past bikes i really miss:) Want to buy one again and restore it.
Well, I'm too late. I owned and raced a 1989 RMX for 7 years in Missouri gncc Hare scrambles. Black Jack enduro series. National Hare scrambles. I would have bought this from you immediately, had I known.
I think they were overshadowed by the much more successful Kawasaki KDX models. Which were then overshadowed by the KTM/Husky 250/300s in the mid 2000s, and the bullshit emissions laws certainly didn't help :(
Beautiful I love the old 250 2 strokes especially the trail bike's with headlights I have 2 Kawasaki KDX's one of them is a 2001 KDX220R and The other is a 1993 Kawasaki KDX250 I've been looking for a Suzuki RMX250 and a Honda CRM250 absolutely love those bike's I'm trying to get rid of my old Maico 490 right now and I'm looking to trade for the Suzuki RMX250 or Honda CRM250 you guys always have The most amazing bike's keep up the great work I Love your videos
Andy M snow? No snow where I live brother , you sure ya not scared of the ole girl . I find I adjust air mix and needle height for each season makes the old nag happy . Good vids too ,
Sick yo. I just picked up a 1990 RMX250L for $600. :) Gonna rebuild it hopefully running by Spring 2020. Has all the original plastics, seat, tires, lighting, and even the stock muffler and pipe, so it'll be legal to rip it in NH lol
and these 89 rmxs where only badass with some retrictions taken off......it came from factory with the fol.lowing rerstrictions.....A corked up huge silencer with internal spark arrestor to keep noise down....a throttle stop plate in the carb so u couldnt rev it wide open.......powervalve restrictive springs to keep the hit smooth.......less aggresive ignition timing.......thicker cooling jacket surface areas and thicker twin walled stock pipe all in attempt to add material to keep decibels down and stronger for ruts and rock damaage...which in turn ...added more weight....and also a thicker head gasket to keep compression down some......and the result from the factory with all EPA legal mods in place was a dossile whisper quiet machine smoother than silk but with a less than stellar rear wheel horsepower rating of.........24.1 horsepower at 8500 rpm i believe.......yes only 24.1 for a 250 2 stroke........crazy....but with all the restrictions off and with an fmf pipe and silencer......smaller squish gap...all the stop plates switched out...geared bigger in the rear end and without serious motor work it could be able to get it to almost 40 rw horsepower...which wasnt blistering but still an awesome bike that would waste a kdx 250 of the time....and your rmx looks and sounds def like it has shedded its extra fat and even though this is old video..i still enjoy just looking at this beautiful machine....what a beauty!!!!
Had an all stock 89 reg RM 250.It would beat The CR 250s in that age range in a drag the first 4 gears consistently. The CRs would pull away in 5th.Did it with different riders many times. The CRs def better all around bike but, those RMs had legit low & mid.& the sound is unmatched!
Were you able to get any help from Opferman Motors in finding the Maico you were looking for ? Nice RMX too by the way … you don't see them like that much anymore . = )
Lmao....I love the part where ken sr. says, "its even got a light so u can ride at night, hell u could even probably stick a plate on it and ride it on the street!!!, ( BIG Sniffle)..........i remember in behaviorial psychology class micro expressions and somehow i remember them saying sometimes when a person sniffles after saying something, it often means that they didnt put a whole lot of stock into the statement and that they werent 100% confident on what they just said or dont feel what they said was actually a viable opinion.........in other words....ken truthfully thinks that putting a plate on an rmx probably wasnt going to happen or is a longshot to say the least..(maybe in a select number of areas and towns somewhere in the world)...but no matter whomever buys this probably wont be trying to commute to their daily college courses.....Lmao....love you guys!!!!!!!! i laughed my ass off when he said that ken says some funny off the wall shit sometimes i love it!!!!
Thats a hell of an engine right there. Them late 80s two strokes aint no joke.
Arianna's future husband Suzukis sure were..very slow & if you were lucky they wouldn't blow up. 89' Suzukis were grenades.
Love the sound of these. Late model one's had ADR compliance so we can legally ride them on the roads

I have a 94 RMX. Best 2 smoker I've ever owned. Wide ratio trans and flywheel weight make it a serious woods weapon. Great, great bike!
I just bought a 1993.. Who makes a flywheel weight for one? And are you still running the stock carb?

Used to have rmx 250 awesome bike was a 91 Glenn from Massachusetts
I'll never figure out why Suzuki quit making these when they did......just a great bike for a lot of things.
I think they were overshadowed by the much more successful Kawasaki KDX models. Which were then overshadowed by the KTM/Husky 250/300s in the mid 2000s, and the bullshit emissions laws certainly didn't help :(
Sales.. not enough people buying them.

@@johnelliott1632 note that there isn't very much traction in snow
