Rusty... Been watching you as a 14 year old kid. 10 years later you show up on Jared Dines shred collab. Either way your input on Austrian death machine, and the all shall perish song from so far away... Always enjoyed your style! Bought an 8 Because of this video right here. Keep playing I was so GLAD to see you in the shred collab! Plz feed us more!!!
Cypher858 it really has nothing to do with my tone the problem has to do with the camera. This video is not suppossed to be a big pro production it's just me in my home making a video for my friends and fans.
@SoundOfAShark it's called a "fanned fret" guitar. it's made so the lower string are like on a baritone guitar (because the mensur is 28" i think), while the higher strings are like a normal guitar (25.5"). and this is because then the lower strings wont become so floppy.
@MrCameronBarton Actually, I believe the high side is actually 23.5 or somewhere in that neighborhood so that he can accommodate the high G#. The low string is actually tuned to Bb.
rusty is my idol...he made a great impact on my guitar playing...i can die in peace coz i have found the shredder that i always wanted after shawn lane.
@8stringerr - possible? of course although FR doesn't have one to market yet. I am sure someone will get an 'authorized' one out there and we will see that one on the RC8 since Rusty favors the way they tend to sit lower to the deck
@SoundOfAShark I think it's because he has just one added low string, and an added high string. No idea what that extra high string is tuned to though, my guess is A.
@sk8monster112 to compensate for string tension so he doesnt have to use a thinner gauge string its pretty much the same thickness as a regular high E. hope this helps!
thank you so much for helping to bring the 8 string back the only people you see with them is little core kids that play the exact same thing just a octave lower. ohhhhhhh and keep rocking the beard
@JPMisery Thats not what i asked but thanks for trying to help. I asked about a rc8X (emphasis on the X) model. He's playing the rc8. rc8x if anything like the rc7x will be a cheaper model.
@MrHarrie75 i think there is very little musical about solid shredding like this but as a tecknician he is the the best alive today in my opinion. People may have played some passages fast that they have learn for hours and hoursbut im sure a) there speed is a little bit slower b )they can only play some passages clean or can't properly play clean shred at all. I would never pay to see him play but I believe his skill must be recognised
@8stringerr Kahler make an 8 string trem, it looks pretty badass. They're used on some recent Agile's I've seen on Rondo Music's site, dunno how well they work but they look the business.

aaa! super insane! those chords at the end are also great
At first I see his alternate picking stuff and I'm like "I bet if I figured it out and really practiced it, I could nail it" then I see his sweeping and I'm like... "why even try?"
The only thing stopping you and people like you is that mentality smh. It’s just practice. All it takes is time and practice. That’s it! It just all depends on how bad you want it. When I was 15, I’m 33 now I had just heard of Rusty and I had been super into the Yngwie thing the last couple of years and had his stuff down cold, especially everything from the first three records. I mean I could play those riffs and solos in my sleep. I got Rusty’s chops from hell stuff and within a year could rip every lick from those cd roms of his just as fast and clean effortlessly. It’s all about the practice man. Don’t ever think you can’t be as good as anyone else it’s not “man I’ll never be as good as him, it’s man I can’t wait until when I’m as good!!!” Start thinking like that and if you have the talent, the drive, the passion, obsession and discipline you’ll get there. Now I’m really into Andreas Oberg, my goal is to be close to that level in the next three years and as good or better before I turn 40. I’ve been playing since I was 3 or 4 so trust me I know what I’m talking about. You just got to put in the work and time and not give up. Getting there is half the fun! The other half is enjoying the fruits of your labor. And the better you get the more fun you have!!!! Don’t get discouraged, stay hungry excited and passionate about music and your instrument and you will get there I promise. But it takes everything you’ve got. I’ve practiced 6-8 hours a day for decades, through school and later work, twice that on my days off 6 days a week cause that is what it takes and I LOVE it!!!! You’ll have to make sacrifices, friends, lovers, relationships, prior engagements, parties and it’s blood sweat and tears but it’s soooo worth it!!! Like I said it’s really just how much and how badly you want it. Nobody is born like Charlie Parker of Coltrane or Liszt or Chopin, music was everything to them and they spent 90+ percent or more of their lives and time practicing their craft, their Art and their instrument while having a tremendous gift and they cultivated their Talent and they never stopped., the Greats never stop PRACTICING. Which is why they are the best. If you have talent, passion, drive and an obsession for music, your instrument in the desire to get better; nothing can stop you ; only you can ;)
The only thing I don't like about this guitar is the headstock design. It would go better with the fanned frets if it were inverted so that all the tuners were along the bottom edge instead of the top.
O.o!! That guitar scale is so weird... i bet that most of all guitarist wouldn't be able to shred around 24f that easly(and so I x]). Respect Mr Cooley!!
How I wish I owned one of these, you touring now or anytime soon? I may be in ability to open for you. Opened for a few greats in the past, MAB and Buckethead, I'd love to get the fastest alive on my list.
...0_o that's the first time since i started playing guitar 5 years ago, that i've watched something guitar related that's so amazing i litraly beaved 'that can't of just happend!' apologise for the spelling, to confuseed to spell properly... wow, i feel slightly ill... 0_o
Shawn Lane woulda loved this guitar...he always talked about wanting to add a higher string, but there were no guitars with a high A string before his death. Do Shawn proud, Rusty!
Hell yeah Russ!four octave, four finger shred runs....this is the guitar equivalent of those pills that make yr schloong bigger, except this really works!
haha. the description says "I'm really just starting to get the hang of it again". WHATEVER!!!! that was crazy. I wish I could "Just start to get the hang of it".

I like high A string, but I tune my 8 string 1 tone down, (lowA-D-G-C-F-A-D-highG) for better comunication with my Bb trumpet
FranzKEYGUIMPET80 what gauge is the high A string (or high G in your case)?
Hi Rusty!
When this guitar is going to be available for purchase?
This is an extraterrestrial weapon!!
I want it!
@truedimebagdarrell The low side is a normal 25.5 inch scale and the high side (tuned to Ab) is a shorter scale because of the increased tension.
Great axe but I don't know why the frets are "fanned"(I guess I heard people call it like that)? What kind of advantage this feature gives?
amazing! amazing! amazing!
That's sick. Gotta pick one of these up when it's released.
Some people have chopped and welded 2 6 string floyds to make 8. 9, and even 10 string floyds. Kahler makes an 8 string trem though.
@MrHarrie75 i think there is very little musical about solid shredding like this but as a tecknician he is the the best alive today in my opinion. Damn, you're one of the cleanest players I have ever seen.
Does anyone know if is there a reason for the frets being angled, or is it just for looks?
Hi rusty, Could you tell me why from the 1st to 12th fret on these 8 strigns guitar are twisted?
Greetings from Colombia :)
absolutely sick guitar!!!
and this video definitely to favorites
Gotta love this tone mate
what happened to the conklin that you had a while back in your 8 string jam vid
@8stringerr Kahler make an 8 string trem, it looks pretty badass. They're used on some recent Agile's I've seen on Rondo Music's site, dunno how well they work but they look the business.
aaa! super insane! those chords at the end are also great
@atriuo you can use a 9 to a 6 gauge
Sweet Jesus!! Rusty you need to do a "Betcha Can't Play This" with that thing man.. All legato.. like what you did around 1:27
@GuitarGeek112 OMG whay are dey calld fand fretzz??
amazing! Does your 8 string have two low strings or is it conventional with the one low one high?
Love the axe very cool Rusty! Best wishes brother
-Santiago Dobles
unreal dude love the high a
BADASS, cant wait to see it. Everyone nedds to request dean to mas produce it
what are the two extra strings tuned to in standard tuning?
hope that red xenocide graphic be available on your rc7g :D
so tell me rusty, why doesnt this beast have a kahler floating tremolo but a fixed one?
amazing playing as always !!
do you by any chance do speed before performances? is that your secret?
what gauge strings are you using? I imagine the high A is light than a .009.
@julvez19 fanned frets dude. =) the idea is to keep the guita perfectly intune all the way down the neck =)

can you get the rc7 in this colour?
Ive asked before but ill ask again why are the frets slanted
@wigmanite exactly, the string only touches the fret at one point, all the math is done when it's built, for the user it's like any other guitar :)
The only thing I don't like about this guitar is the headstock design. It would go better with the fanned frets if it were inverted so that all the tuners were along the bottom edge instead of the top.
So are there plans for a rc8x Rusty?
O.o!! That guitar scale is so weird... i bet that most of all guitarist wouldn't be able to shred around 24f that easly(and so I x]). Respect Mr Cooley!!
Holy shit, that was awesome!
Thanks Rusty!
