  • Welcome to the very first video of my RUclips channel, The Unwise Thinker.
In this video, I will be discussing the hurdles, and hardships, African people face (especially women) due to something they were born with. THEIR NATURAL HAIR.
We are going to travel through time, to understand where it all began, how it evolved throughout the centuries, how we got to where we are today, and what we should expect from the future.

Very much appreciated docu. Black hair dominates all others as even when straightened chemically or by heat, quickly reverts to it's natural state when the process is discontinued. Tho many black ppl are yet to appreciate the power of black hair, I find it to be very versatile and attractive, in whatever style it's worn.

Very much appreciated for this document on the Beautiful Black Hair. Thank you for this. Cause l remember as a kid in the seventies that wearing our hair in french braids are conrow of the African braids was forbidden in public schools
Our community fought to change the rules. Overtime it was accepted in public schools today. I am proud of our natural hair textures. Cause you can wear it multiple ways. I love my natural hair and proud to wear it natural or straight. But mostly natural!!! All African American women are beautiful with their natural hair regardless if it's straight or natural. 😊

Very interesting video…as a Black American woman, I can attest, and the societal changes we experienced here in the USA reflects in my having worn my hair relaxed for most of my adult life. But wanting more authentic life hairstyle, I cut off all my relaxed hair I’d worn for over 30 years, and loc’d it up 8 years ago. One thing I wish you’d done, being an African man yourself, is focus us in on the hairstory in Africa during these same periods of time and also other countries in the Americas where slavery was in place - the spread of the African diaspora is so much more broadly represented in places like Brazil, Columbia, the Caribbean… USA gets enough attention. That would be very enlightening.

Queretaro would be cooler for you.
I am a brown woman born in 1942 Chicago, and you are correct. God will take care.I left the USA in 2021.
Move to Mexico. Work online on retirement income.
YOU still must be ALERT to deadly criminals in all occupations.
My parents and Chicago showed me how to survive in an honest way, and be moral and responsible.
    I love you.
I live in Mexico, and I did buy emergency pesos, when i came here in 2021. Starting July 13, I will use my emergency pesos to pay rent for the next 5 months. My rent went from $673 per months to$874 per month for the same apartment, that I love. It does include all utilities, wifi, maid and security, and 100% beautifully furnished. My pensions comes on a USA debit card, and ATM fees are refunded. I always stock up on 6 months preps.
I paid $1900 per month for everything when i left the deadly and expensive USA at 79 in 2021. I do not want a Mexican banl account for it would be hard for my American family to get my savings.
Queretaro, but always be alert anywhere. Merida is too hot, and Acapulco had too many earthquakes.
Over 60 years coming to Mexico, all USA states., and all over the world on my own dime,
Allah u Akbar. God is great.
    RIP everyone around the world.
The dollar is falling in Mexico, so rents are higher each month.
I was born in Chicago in 1942, then Oak Park, downtown, and last to Waukegan, before moving to Queretaro in 2021 at 79.
Queretaro works for me. Safe, Cool, and I have local friends.
Singaporean laws. Send all criminals from top to bottom to Ukraine and Sudan. Fentanyl tablet for all killers and rapists. Shave heads of males and females with felonies.
    Leave the USA.
I worry about nothing, but that is how I am. I am retired, and at the age of 79 I do not need money from anyone, for I am a giver to non beggars, so they can help themselves. I do not like beggars, or scammers asking for loans or donations.
Keep your USA income, and just visit the different countries on vacation time. Never depend on donations. Help non beggars help themselves. Do not use any drugs. Trust only GOD. Keep written, audio, and video journals. Be married, even if you have separate homes, if you want sex and a baby after 35 for women, and 45 for me. You need your own space.
Queretaro works for me, after over 60 years visiting and living part time, and WORKING in the USA, Live where you can afford, and you are happy with the climate, safety etc.
Send all criminals from the supreme court on down to Ukraine and the Sudan,
Karma never loses an address. YOU will reap what you have sown.
I moved to Queretaro on 11-2-2021, and I am loving this city, and have lived in the same beautiful apartment, since day 1. At 79, I will stay here, until I die, and I will never take a test, pills, or injections, for I know my body. I am too old for visa runs, and I do have a highly recommended man, that will work for me. to get the temp retirement visa.
The people here have been super kind and respectful, and I am the same towards them. I do not have to walk, for I have many new friends with cars.
I wish the best for both of you, and so happy, that I worked from 7-70, and my pension supports me much better , than in the USA and it is safer, cleaner, and $850 less per month.
Mexico has been my favorite place, since I visited in 1962 at age 20, and fell in love with Acapulco, but not the 6 earthquakes, that I have experienced there and one hurricane.
I do speak Spanish as a second language. I love my own chicken wings etc. lol
All for now, and stay blessed and safe always.
I can live anyplace in the world, but since I am more familiar with my next door neighbor(Mexico), i am comfortable here. I am USA Muslim, and Africans are everywhere.
My DNA is African, First Nation, and Scottish. (grandfather). God has been great to me, and I am so thankful.
    All lives matter....
Let go and let God always.

Unpopular opinion....we have worked so hard on learning healthy hair and many BW have a head full of hair after trial and error and tons of money spent. With that said, we have become a slave to "protective styling". Growing hair down our backs never for the world to see. It makes me so angry that still, after all the discrimination and fighting for legislation regarding our hair, we still load a ton of weave and braids in EVERYDAY YEAR AFTER YEAR in the name of "protective styling ". Can we show our hair SOMETIMES?? Even a day or two? Sorry not sorry 🤷🏽‍♀️

I am compelled to speak for those of us who have "good hair". That somehow it makes us "less Black." That it means we are "better than." You know what it really means? That elaborate braiding styles/locs/dreads/twists are OUT. Thin hair also means weaker hair. So, while many Black women display their crowning glory in all its splendor, take note of that minority who cannot. WHO has the good hair now?

  • @d.h.dd.h.d.5230

I hate when people disbelieve that Black women cannot grow their hair to any length. We've simply lost our way in an global Eurocentric society.
Black women have the longest strongest & thickest hair on the planet. We have that distinction not Europeans Asians nor East Indians.
See the women of the Chebe region & the Mbulantu who have the longest hair in the world. Our hair is fab because it allows us to survive below the equator without getting bone, brain, nor skin cancers.
Once I stopped relaxing & using euro centric products & techniques, I grew my hair down my back in 3-months. My family saw me on zoom & all thought I had a weave or a wig. I had to fill them in...
I used the techniques of the women in the Chebe region & the Mbulantu using olive oil, hair lotions, protective hair styles.
When I want it straight & flowing, I just get a nondamaging DR Blowout, not to be mistaken for a Brazilian blow out.
