I’m old enough to have heard Glenn Gould play the Bach D minor concerto in a concert with the Columbus Symphony around 1960. The conductor was Evan Whallon. Of the hundreds of concerts I have attended since then it still ranks as one of the most memorable!

One of, if not the best, slow movement from any piano concerto!

@@Willow_Ramsay_Music it is truly a great mix of romanticism and impressionism

I was going to pick Brandenburg 5, but then I realised that I could get away with it more if I picked the keyboard concerto 😃

I love Poulenc. I think he is my favorite chamber music composer for woodwinds. He never misses a beat with his sonatas and his trios. Just an absolute legend. He has such an iconic and unique style.
Also, I still don't understand how any human being can play Prokofiev's last two concertos. But they both are absolutely stunning. I used to only like the fast part of the third, but I grew to love both of them. Prokofiev is such a unique composer.

I love Poulenc's chamber music- particularly the Clarinet Sonata- as It is all so wonderfully written & emotionally rich, but it couldn't't have been written by anyone else.
The last two concerti by Prokofiev are weird- I currently lean more to No. 4, but I still need time to understand them better. Still really great works!

Would love to hear Moszkowski or Scriabin or somebody in one of these, also idk if you've heard it but the second mvt of Boris Tchaikovsky's piano concerto is sublime

I've managed to skip out on listening to the Moszkowski concerto so far- not for any particular reason, just I've not really been after huge romantic concerto recently. I will start listening to it though- I've skipped on it long enough.
For the Skryabin- I've been going through the piano sonatas, I'm trying to sink my teeth into them as a little project recently. I'll get to the concerto at some point.
I hadn't heard of the Boris Tchaikovsky concerto until you commented it, and I'd initially assumed it was a typo (others seem to think that as well) and you meant Pyotr Tchaikovsky's concerto, but nope! Turns out it is very much a thing, and it was a really interesting piece. Not entirely sure if I like it or not, but it certainly is a unique piece. The sparsity of the orchestration really threw me at first, particularly in the first movement, but I started to get into it later on.
I'm going to do a vid showing some obscure piano concerti at some point, and this will likely be in it.
Thank you so much for the recommendations!

great list, I like the slower bach d minor. The harmony stands out more

I liked it a lot as well- for me, I don't think I could pick between a fast and a slow one. I like the excitement that a faster performance brings, but, as you pointed out, a slower tempo really brings out the harmony & counterpoint!
