This is the best review I've seen of this car, thanks. I actually quite like the look of it. If I had the sort of money for a car like this, then I'd certainly choose the 50 version over an X5.
Once again Nobby I watched your presentation on the iX and along with another reviewer on YT, I bought one, being delivered Monday in the exact same guise as your demo car. It's a year old and saving myself almost 21000 Euro, that's a big drop. You may remember I purchased a Lexus LC500h in November and again, that was your fault. Your reviewing style is laid back but punchy enough to get the message across clearly and with enthusiasm. Let's hope we see a lot more of you. Happy 2023!
I have an ix xdrive50. On your consumption figures: On today's 130km trip of two legs at around 0C temperatures on moderate traffic country roads with 60-80kmh speed limit my consumption overall was 190Wh/km.
Nice review, as always from you, Nobby! It has me wondering, when the Skoda Enyaq IV 80X VRS arrives, how would the 2 cars match up against each other? Power, battery size and interior dimensions must be very close! Of course techy stuff, there is a difference in quality, but, with the Lounge Suite interior, there isn't much to differentiate them. Price, some €20-25,000 is a big factor! I'm looking forward to the first reviewer to put these head to head!
Great review, but when a manufacturer tells you you can't open bonnet without BMW doing it after spending that money then I'd say no thanks. Wash fill point means if using additives in screen wash, you'll potentially spill on paint work etc.
The instructions for opening the bonnet is in the user manual. There are two pull tabs inside the cabin, nothing will stop you if you want to get under there. There are no gas struts or rod to hold it open though.
Hate the new dashboards in all these cars. A few ipad like displays sticking out of a dull unimaginative dash 🙈 prefer the previous looks where they had to put thought and style into a beautiful integrated dash. That been said, this was another great video mate 😁
Very nice review. Didn’t like it when press photos were release but when I see it in real life in Frank Keane Blackrock , I changed my mind. Definitely stands out from the crowd . Lovely interior and exterior design and I agree about HK sound system, unbelievable. Never hear anything like it in any car before. I have HK sound system in my 7 series but the one in IX is another level.
The frameless doors look amazing. I like the sound of the denim seats. I had a Peugeot 205 Junior back in the day (my second car, but my first that didn’t fall apart!) and it had black denim seats with yellow piping. They looks amazing and we’re also extremely comfortable. The cabin looks great too. I was just thinking it was filled with minimalism.
I have the IX and a Tesla 3. Very nice car. But BMW still has a long way to go to catch Tesla intuitiveness and clever convenient electronic functionality.
God what a moose. Great review though, Nobby, but not my sort of thing. Here in Borisland, the driving through puddles and soaking the common people types will love it, though.
Nobby it is very efficient, but you’re a car reviewer so you’re probably dropping the hammer a lot more than an owner would. I had fun when I first got it, now I just get in an drive. I’ve gotten 400km plus most full charges in summer, winter is another story.
Why do you reviewers keep saying how long it will charge from zero to 100% as if that is what people will be doing every day? First of all, you should never charge to 100 unless you need the range for a long trip, and secondly, most people will never do that type of charging. I have a Tesla, and I have NEVER done that.
Great review Nobby as ever, mind you it's a hideous price for a car that would take ages to charge at home where most would charge it, it doesn't have heated seats which at that price you'd expect to, very weird that the bonnet doesn't open, what happens if u need to replace a headlight bulb which even though they're LED will eventually you will it means BMW has to do it costing a fortune and let's not get around the fact the the main elephant in the room is that it's ugly! If I'd 90k Euro and was in the market for an EV it'd be a definite no there though the tech involved in it is very interesting.
@@nshon7 according to the review only BMW engineers can unlock it. wouldn't matter I still wouldn't be buying one even if I had the money. It's ugly as as an ugly thing!
Yess !!! BMW Finally you guys NAILED IT !!! Good Job !!!

looks better in that colour than the promo pics. looks like a very nice motor
Another great review mate.. amazing machine with a hefty price tag though ! Must say the interior is dap.. Keep it up buddy.

Great review, lovely car, awaiting delivery!
Getting this exact model next week. Cannot wait!
Enjoy

Does that front badge lock to prevent thieving 'collectors' ?
The door is frame less so the 'clunk' will go
Is the manual as big as the car
Prefer this to other current ev suv, classy
What’s with all these large sunroofs that don’t open? Cost savings? People don’t want it?
To open bonnet pull latch in cabin, bonnet will pop then pull latch again, just be ready to be shocked
We will still buy it for its luxurious interior and tech, even though it looks a bit.... weird.

Sound system is just incredible 👍🏻
@@NobbyOnCars You suggested upgrading to HK. isn't HK standard but you pay extra for B&W system?

How about the ride and built quality? Which one would you prefer?

BMW should make it as big as a motor home so I can live in it.
Is it better than the model Y quality wise asking for a friend. 😉
That's almost a rhetorical question. I would say without a doubt it is.
@@NedNew agree my brother has a model 3 and the quality is shocking bad

Most figured quoted are 80%. Great to know that you’ve a Tesla though…..
I always charge to 100%. The difference is negligible to 80% so why not.
EUR85k!!!! Ooof.
I got as far as price and had go A&E
Silly money ! Silly car ! Silly world !

The hood/bonnet opens. Not a simple latch as per usual but it opens. Google it

BMW clearly copied the iconic Ssangyong Tivoli XLV.
Good review but not my type of SUV
Imagine buying a car that only the main dealer can access to do even basic safety checks, can’t see how this passes right to fix laws!
passes right to be ripped off laws
Totally ridiculous price, car manufacturers are ripping people off.
Looks better in black-can't see that hideous grille as easy..
It’s clever with a great interior. But the exterior……self indulgent cluster fuck. I’ll pass.
BMW should make it as big as a motor home so I can live in it.
