Is it possible to make the half granny squares without cutting my yarn to change color every row(and continue to work back and forth from where I left off)? I think I'll use a self striping yarn you see

hi ☺️ (updated) i would start by making the width of the back granny square the same as the width from shoulder to shoulder (or use a t-shirt you have as reference!)
then complete the same amount of rows for the front half granny squares, and when constructing the arm holes, chain the existing length needed to suit your fit
