Some years ago Greg Whitten had his brand new La Ferrari at the Issaquah Triple X Drive In where the Fiat Club was hosting its All Italian Car Show. He had the doors open and was letting people sit in the car to have a better look. Greg is not exactly an over the top extrovert but more of a low-key personality. So he was simply standing nearby with most of the car's admirers not even realizing he was the owner. I got looking at his very new Ferrari and noticed the front tires had notable wear and the rears were half gone! "Greg, what's up with your tires?" Seems he had it out at Pacific Raceway and put a good 70 laps on it one day.
Love these owners who put their cars through their paces.
EXACTLY. I used to see a Ferrari driver use his Ferrari as his daily drive in my old neighborhood years ago. I used to think "what a great guy" driving it and noy just hiding it in his garage outa site
mad 4 that A
He is a really cool guy. It’s always been a pleasure seeing his cars at local car shows. I do admit, I am kind of sad Seattle no longer has a 250 GTO
wazza6942 my dad remembers people daily driving older Ferrari’s in the 70’s as my grandfather did the same thing. Now you don’t even see new Ferrari’s on the road. I’ve seen more older Alfa’s on the road than Ferrari’s and they built way less Alfa’s.
Connor K What about Jon Shirley's 250 GTO. Has he sold it or moved?
"Who knows, maybe I'll buy one later..." - this is the F YOU level of money.
That moment when you have so much money that you're unfazed about selling a Ferarri 250 GTO...
Well i mean the dude bought it for a couple million years ago. Enjoyed it and showed it around now he's makings tens of millions on it. It's hands down the greatest investment ever.
@@RobinsM Greatest investment ever.....lol no
711Dcool Gaming making million into into millions is a great inv statement , what are u talking about
@@90AlmostFamous he said greatest, there have been way better return percentage stories
He is only worth 700m. Most collectors who buy 250 GTOs are worth billions
I’ve met Greg on a few accounts. Super nice and humble guy. Was sad to see this car go but glad I had the experience of seeing it in person. Greg will find another crazy pinnacle car, he always does.
Great car, congrats to the seller & buyer. The seller obviously made all his money from doing the Kermit the Frog 🐸 voice over. 👍😎
Doesn't even have a backup camera what a rip off
New cars don't even have manual transmittions aside from porsches
Yeah it doesnt have a backup camera but its one of the rarest car in the world and even tho is an old car its still a fast car
Kyle TMOO7 r/whoosh
Dude
Mona Lisa isn’t even 1080
it's a rip off cuz it doesn't have a backup camera ? LMAO you don't understand it
Ferrari 250 GTO is an absolute masterpiece, truly a piece of automotive art. Lucky people who get to own these amazing machines.
Yeah, but not a 48M dollars masterpiece lol
1:46
He doesn't look happy to sell the car, thats why all throughout the interview he's not even excited.
His wife looks to be the one excited which means its her that kept pressuring him to sell the car.
Im sure the $48 million will help him get over it.
Smart woman. The reason they're selling in California is because of all the hipsters and Gen X tech boys who have shown in recent years to overpay by ridiculous amounts for collector cars.
lol
He’s one of the original 14 members of Microsoft. I think he would’ve been fine without the 48 million
You can see it by his wifes reaction to him like: "owww honey, we will travel alot After we get ride of this piece of metal"
Thanks Greg...for being such a GREAT 'CARETAKER' of this 250 GTO 'Holy Grail'....for the past 18 years!!! Well Done SIR!!
Robert Yee I’m gonna miss seeing this car at RTC
My god wish I could’ve been at some of the events he was at! From the comments it sounds like he would let you drive the thing! Such a nice man. So few around like him for sure
Really awesome piece of machinery, and clearly so well looked after. A Unicorn of the Automobile World indeed. I can only imagine what it would mean to Ferrari collectors.
I wouldn’t have it over a 33 stradale.
Anyone else notice Derek Bell was the one to drive the car on stage?
'maybe i'll buy one later', like a pair of socks. love it.
So happy for him.
My question is how do you even insure that? How much would it cost?
You really want accident forgiveness.
Insurance? Maybe if it’s necessary but the man an Pat for anything that goes wrong on it, unless it burns down lol
There is no real insurance. If you can afford it you can afford to fix it. Liability so you can drive it but you self insure for damage. Theft is the only thing. but most people know who owns what
This is a job for Loyds of London.
Honestly, it's better to not to think about it. If you have the money to buy it, the insurance costs aren't going to give you heartburn or nightmares. Just get behind the wheel and go.
The record is actually the grey kessel 62 body 250 gto which went for $72m (about £52m)
Gee I wonder what this guy does for a living?! Looks like a UPS driver.
Microsoft engineer from the very beginning.
+Raphael Bittner thanks for the 411.
doctor
@@owlcritic A doctor couldn't afford the steering wheel on that thing....
Looks are receiving though.
And this is what being so rich that you are just bored with money and an almost $50 million car doesn't even register any emotion with you. I have a neighbor that made $20 million more than this car sold for last year, that's just crazy how much some people make in this world.
What a beautiful designed car. She looks, drives and sounds amazing. Thank you for sharing.
The sound....heaven
This is rolling art a masterpiece the holy grail of cars it should be placed in a museum next the finest paintings in the world
New sitcon, Everybody Loves Greg.
While the amount is staggering, i don't really like this one. I like the one that has the 3 front intake holes, 2 hole side fender vent and 1 hole rear fender vent. Also the bubble style rear window with rear exit exhaust. This one looks like a kit car. IMHO.
So, you like the 3527gt one, I guess?
Respect the previous owner for actually using the car.
1:51 when she knows u can definitely get her a few more cars for the rally
When the car was produced in 1962 it costed 10K
10k then was like 120k of today. At least in my range of knowledge
bageli tsandila ya maybe i just read it costed 10k
* costed is NOT a word. 😔
Sorry im from sweden and suck at english:)
William Levy it is a word, just not useable in this context.
Dude this car is like wtf!!!!!.... It's awesome.....
Not as awesome as 48 million
Man I think you don't khow what this car is.....
First check it's history dude.....
Fenil Patel the car is not worth 48 million... history won’t make a difference. 5 million dollars maybe
@@vika0194 the car sold later for 72 million
The price of used cars really has gone up.
It's lit !!!!!!!
Who are you ?
"best i can do is 5 dollars..."
Do I hear $6?
Never thought I would see someone cash in $44 million and be sad about it
I must ask this question as a point of reference only, not as a criticism or oneupmanship. Is the correct description of this particular Ferrari not 250 GTO LM? LM being for LeMans? The earlier 250 GTO was most similar to the 250 GT SWB and is the more familiar GTO variant. I failed to purchase a 250 GT SWB in 1969 for $4800...
wow 48 million is a nice paycheck
the background music ruined the video
And the award for the most excited person ever goes to......
“I’d rather be the guy that owns a 250 GTO, than the guy that sold one” - Nick Mason
BIG MONEY!😳🤑
Great car,one of a kind.
Ferrari the best in the world
The good life~
WOW.......👍🇦🇺
His ERA is far more interesting, it's the most desireable car in the world for me!
He seems nice
How come some 250 GTO’s look different? This one looks different than what a normal 250 GTO looks like. This one doesn’t have the three holes in the hood.
Body by Scaglietti, there were only 7 of these made.
i got reg plate GTO 28V for sale if you know of any buyers ??? thanks love that car
The world has completely lost perspective.
The Ferrari 275 in Ft Lauderdale is the unicorn! Est value of $100,000,000.00 It is reported $75,000,000.00 offer was hung up on and told not to call back when the owner was alive.
Speculation yes...but it's NOT up for Auction.
for comparison; the most expensive van gogh did 135 mln.
Aholly Grail of car period < very Humble PO
Who is The current seller??
Is it the lights? Why does it look pink?
How much does IRS get a cut of the $48.4 million?
Cant even fart on the seat. Now he can buy 40 new Ferraris. One for almost every week of the yr lol.
40? More like 100 at least
this is a 250 GTO with bodywork designed by Scaglietti, who was a prsonel friend of Enzo Ferrari. i think they made only 4 with this bodywork.
Never seen someone get 48m & act like they just got a food stamp check 😂😂😂😂
Dude looks about one burger away from a heart attack
this guy is selling cars as if he was trading pokemon cards
A old car costs more than a cruise ship
It was sold for 44M not 48.4M.
This one car is worth more than most Ferrari owners entire collection.
This guy acts like $44 million is no big deal. I wish I knew what having one percent of that feels like.
Have you had 1% of his impact on the world?
Has Michael Jordan’s colours and Number aswell
You can have it. Most I'd give is 10,000.
its turn into pink color on stage lol
Sounds like a bored Kermit, "Oh yeah geez, I guess I just made $44 million dollars." What a fun guy.
I thought the auction said $44M?
there's a 10% fee the Buyer pays to the Auction House....that's why they do these Auctions
44 million? Where’s that 48.4 million title come from? 😂
stevet419 taxes, expenses etc
Well 42m usd is certainly Not in My Hobby Account
Bet they register that in Montana
Bet they don't...
Everyone early at Microsoft sounds like Kermit the frog
Nope. Even if I had 48 million to spend on a car i would rather get someone to build me an exact replica for like let´s say 1-2 million.
Yeh but its not the same original one doesn't count u would look gay
@@thegamingworld99 Why? For me its about the driving experience not the originality. A new build replica would drive as well as a original 250 GTO straight from the factory.
why does msm have so little subscribers?
At least his wife looks happy
40 million and no fckin Bluetooth in it??!! I want his money back!!!
THIS IS WHAT ME WITHOUT A FUCHING EURO WOULD DO... SPEND A FORTUNE IN A VINTAGE FERRARI!!
people pretending to be rich wearing expensive suits, person that is rich wears polo shirt and slacks.....and a baseball cap
See and I thought my uncle having over 2 million dollars in house money and 1 million in cars was rich. Then you see a single car sold for 45 million dollars.. welp looks like my uncle is poor again.
Ehh who knows maybe I’ll buy my 50 million dollar car later
Should’ve gotten lot 250 I mean it was just 3 away
Some reported "private sales" of this model in the last 5 years ranged from $53 million to $70 million, sounds like this guy sold short. Unless these reported sales were bogus, to begin with, just used to generate interest in this model, looks a lot like a kit car to top it off..........
Such a shabby guys driving these beautiful Cars. Kind of dissatisfying.
Whoever bought it will eventually make more money on the transaction than we’ll all earn in a lifetime.
Isnt that the one whoever was racing it at the time crashed and died in it
The owner also own prince Bira maserati
They are not cars anymore. They are speculative objects.
The car was sold for $44 million but the video title says $48.4 million. Which is it?
44 million for the car + 4.4 million fee (10%) for the auction house.
@@errrr_001 Thank you.
To think i once owned this car....
In Forza Horizon 3
Maybe ill buy one later he says, seems bored
Lol but now its worth .. or been sold for 64 million! .. crazy!
Rumor has it the buyer is from the Philippines.
Probably the guy who runs the INC as he lives a very lavish lifestyle using church donations.
What do you do if your wife wants a car for rallys?
*you buy her a 48Mio Ferrari GTO*
Seem legit!
Polecat ?
@@GolDRoger-kn5kw if Gol D. Roger personally says so, I can only agree! It's a pleasure by the way captain!!!
Dude he didn't buy his wife the GTO for 48M, he sold the car..
He said his wife wanted a car for a rally. I don't believe it was in reference to the GTO.
48 million and no digital dash or tablet? #Suckers
Still a true car
Can't believe he outbid me. I simply wasn't willing to go over $48 million. Oh well.
Too expensive for a 50 year old car
I wont sell it if I had it. Just saying!
He can reallly live is live and buy two three buggatis and even start his own car company like lambo and and buy lambo and ferreari like peanuts
is what i would have done...spend a fortune in abstract art...but now i am 45 years,... now i would buy Figurative!..., spend a fortune there...this i would do... or better...Antiques… FOR U MEN FOR U... FOR THE RICH... CONTINUE EARNING MONEY!...THAT ME … ME … ME... 25 YEARS ON HOLIDAYS... I HAVE ALREADY SPENT IT ALL MEN!! ...
😮😮😮
#3413GT 1st OA in 1962 TRIESTE-OPICINA HILLCLIMB at the wheel of EDOARDO LUALDI GABARDI
The guy said $44 m not $48 m
Thats the hammer bid. Auction house puts their cut on top of that, plus admin fees and taxes etc.
