Howdy to all who may not be intimately familiar with the pioneers. Firstly, I own the OG xprs 12's and dual 15 subs and used them steadily for about a year, so about 60ish events and can attest to their sparkly highs and lacking deep bass. With that said, I would say that after I adjusted my ears to them, and they burned in, they really became my 1b rig, my 1a are two CV p1000x's and Bose F1 subs. I know, sacrilege to mix manufacturers but my ears matter more to me than traditions. I would say that the subs are built more for musical sound than overwhelming bass, once I switched the knob to the 100hz crossover point they really came to life, these are mid bass focused for sure. It's hard to find info on these but I suspect that they saved a few dollars by dropping the powersoft amps, I love the powersoft amps with power correction in the OG's. For the price that these are coming in at they're going to rattle the market, and that's a good thing. I already have the 10's on order, cheers.
Maybe you can provide me some advice I currently have 2 ev elx200 12sp subwoofers and I was looking to upgrade to the pioneers xprs1152s will it be worth it? Will I be able to tell the difference I want to stay light so I'm not sure about the 18"
@@djcalmetof course you’ll notice the difference the 15s are moving more air. One 15 would sound just as loud as your 12 even if was half the power nesgues of how much air it moves. If taking that into consideration, you’ll probably feel like they’re twice as loud as your current system
Hey CT , a few years ago I almost bought the first round of these Pioneer speakers, but I opted for Ev EKXs. That EKX 18sp Hits! That 10 does seem appealing.
@@ClevelandTerry it's not about personal taste. It's a fact. Any standard 15 " PA on a pole can't do 50hz... They are good for 70 hz but put it on the the pole they loose a lot of reflection.
@@lucabertolaso2167 I own the J8s, the Evox 12s and just sold my QSC K12.2 that I used to pair with 2 Mackie DLM12S subs. I think what you're trying to say is that the J8's are better than a pair of traditional tops (like the K12) on a tripod WITHOUT the sub. If that's what you're saying then yes the J8s are going to sound better than a pair of K12s or similar boxes. But when you add in a sub on the bottom of a K12 or these new Pioneer and cross them over then it's a whole different story. I'd put money that these 10 inch tops on top of the subs are going to be louder and sound better than the J8s. The only column array that would hang is the Evox12 (which I also own) or the Maui 44g (which I have not heard yet but I hear is about the same as the Evox12.)
Hi Cleveland Terry!...great review! I'm in the process of buying one of the 2 kits you tested. I'm oriented towards the 12 with an 18" sub and I wanted to know if you were able to get the kit "run in" and if you noticed any differences in efficiency compared to the 10 which seemed to have more efficiency in the video. Thank you
possibly try the srx vs ev ext sp18..that would be something..the ev can play pretty good at low frequency of 28Hz vs the srx 35Hz might have a little more power but can it play hit hard and play nice at low frequency..but the pioneer starts pretty high at 40Hz so you can can't really get that nice low end like that...i'm speaking on the subs
Hey Terry, i bought a pair for my DJ Booth at home but i have horrible hiss / white noise from my xprs2 10s tops, did you have that too? its really bad...
Yep, I’m looking through this to find if he mentions the hiss… I really don’t know if I can tolerate it, especially as I want to be able to put them out for background music…. It’s really shabby that pioneer have released them like this..I’m thinking maybe a firmware update might fix the issue but I don’t think it will due to the nature of the hiss… I.e. it’s there with all gains turned to zero
@@ClevelandTerry no, definitely not a ground or wiring issue, there is another RUclips review who mentions the hiss towards the end of his review. It’s good to know that not all units have this issue but the two 10” I bought have the problem. I’ve been a sound engineer for 25 years plus. I would expect this from maybe behringer or something but it sounds like it has a behringer or old Gemini dj mixer plugged in with all the volume faders and gains turned up to max, that classic white noise hiss
Hello! Do you think that one xprs 1182s would be enough for 2 pieces of JBL eon 515xt, 625 w and 132 spl? And then the second one to pair with the mentioned setup and a pair of jbl epn 615, 500 w rms and spl 127 max?
Hello, I compared the RFC personally, the overall sound is a little more powerful and the bass is also a little lower, but the Pioneer plays much more detailed without any blockages, a very pleasant and powerful sound does not diverge to the sides due to the dense wooden case of the RFC, it is very audible when you stand behind the speaker or from the side
Just got the xprs115s version 1. And they are Freeking amazing. The specs are a trip though because the v2 specs call for 4000rms/2000 continuous for the amp but only 1000 watts for the driver. Where the v1 is 2400 watt max/1200 continuous for the woofer and amp. 🤷🏾♂️ I’m not sure how that makes any sense but it seems like they put more effort into the v1
15 subs and 10 tops is my ideal set up and I’ve been very much so planning to get a set up like that this year! One thing to consider pioneer has been doing audio for a long time they just don’t seem interested in loudspeakers vs home and car audio
Eh, please tell me your not expecting people to here the quality of these speakers?? You could be playing a transistor radio, it will still sound same over a phone or tablet
I don’t expect anything…put your headphones on. You can hear more than you think. But trust me, if I don’t play the speakers the other people will say, why didn’t you play the speakers. It’s a lose lose.
I don't know what he means, but you do get a burnt smell the 1st couple of times you use new speakers. And that freaks people out. They think their speaker is burning.. lol
Pioneer DJ speakers aren’t to the JBL standard yet they have no Bluetooth audio no bluetooth phone app to ajust all settings in real time lime speech, DJ , live event the JBL has all of that on the mobile app that’s so convenient pioneer got it get it together and make all there products line wireless support to make djs lifes easy
I enjoy that they keep it simple. I don't know if you have ever repaired powered speakers but the less electronics you have inside the better. A failed Bluetooth module that isn't properly isolated from the amplification system is a nightmare, after 24 years of doing live sound and dj'ing I'd rather have a well built, performance focused rig, than something with more stuff that presents value but can break. Isolating a problem in the field is much easier with separate components. Cheers

The 10-inch combo with a 15-inch sub is perfect for medium events. Great vid.
Agreed!
Speakers sound great. I'm waiting for the 2023 beginner dj speaker recommendations. I'm looking for a set up and I know you are the man for it.
Hi Cleveland, Would be interesting to compare the older Pioneer XPRS series which are way more expensive.. I wonder if any compromises have been made?
There are differences. The old drivers is 200 watts more than the xprs2 and with the old ones they used a power soft amp.
Great review...I am sticking to my EV Ekx15ps and my ELX200 18 inch subs....
Great video... Thank you for always info us .... For me so far QSC is the best ... I'm looking forward to watch your video after test on a event.
