Thanks for posting this. Was able to get my stuck bezel off so I could clean it. I added a couple of drops of Tuf-Glide, and then popped it back on. Was able to get my stuck bezel moving again. Thanks!
Great video. I had a Seiko monster once that had a sticky bezel. I removed it with a butter knife and just like you said, put it on the carpet on the floor and just pushed it back on. Bezel is very smooth now.
AWESOME video, MANY, MANY THANKS. With your help, I successfully changed the bezel on my 1980's Seiko Divers watch. Your video gave me the confidence to do it myself 🇮🇲🏍🤝
Thank you great vid followed your instructions ..... cleaned and popped a bit of grease onto the "o" ring and HAPPY DAYS, the bezel turns so much easier now. Also putting the watch face down onto a flat surface and yes popped right back on. Thanks again all the best.
I would suggest (if it hasn't been mentioned) to use a caseback opener. The edge is not sharp and has a taper that slides right in. Aside from that, great demo. It helped me out! Thanks
Yep. This was more like "How NOT to remove the bezel". The whole point of showing how to remove the bezel is doing it without scratching the watch. But it's an OK video, all in all
I recently loosened a jammed bezel on a Seiko diver by immersing just the Bezel part in hot water in tumbler, not the whole watch ! .....we only want to heat up the Bezel ring, not the whole watch by immersing just The Bezel in hot water it expands the metal ring, and frees it, also it loosens any gunk trapped in the Bezel. very quick, afterwards rinse it under a tap rotating the bezel then lubricate with silicon spray. One assumes all the seals are ok before doing this!
+Mick Newbury it all depends on the watch but it is a pretty much straight forward job.. I do know however that they are easy to scratch so do keep in mind that :)
Thanks for the good video. I see people swap out their bezels to get a different look on some watches...do they have to be from the same manufacturer and model, or just same diameter?
nice video! But I'd like to know if you have ever tried to change the bezel insert? If not, could you do a video on how to change the insert? I think it could change the look of a Seiko if you ever get bored with the color, or just to make it different!
+Guillaume David I did it once by accident so I had to put the insert back in ..however I didn't have the proper adhesive so I used loctite , I was careful and I was able to do it successfully but I dont have spare bezels to ruin for video :)
OMG left thumb position until 1:45 is terrifying lol. do you know if the BEZEL INSERT will easily pop out once the bezel is removed like on a submariner? I have a SNZF17 that the bezel PIP is slightly off center between clicks and it drives me insane!! what kind of lubrication do you use, silicon? i've also read the sometimes you can free a bezel from sand, salt, etc... using tooth floss but i've never tried. thanks for the vid EDC!
+Andrew Poon if you pop out bezel insert you will need some kind of glue to hold it back ..not sure what kind but look into it before you do anything .. I just use silicon grease for the gaskets nothing else.. I suppose you can floss it ..if you are uncomfortable to do it (I would if it was submariner :) but this is generally better way to clean it .. I once had completely stuck bezel and after cleaning it was good as new
Thanks, I actually found a video of how to remove the crown first & the movement popped right out. Was able to then get to the crystal to wipe away all the condensation. What's weird is as soon as I put everything back together. Condensation built up again??? So I figured that the movement probably had residual moisture, let it sit out in a Tupperware container with some of those silicon moisture absorption bags you find in rice bags & after about 48hrs it soaked it all up. Thanks!
1988remixx thats a proper way to to do it , I think I have a video somewhere how to remove a crown from 7s26 .. I am not that patient once I used a blow dryer (that is not recommended) but I did it anyways :)
Great video! I need help though. When I press bezel back on only half of it wants to snap in place. I hear 1 loud snap but half of it is still higher than the rest and won't rotate
align it properly and use flat surface like a book until you get it right, when its half there and you make sure everything as it should be dot be a afraid to aply more pressure
hi, have you ever done this with a Seiko skx013? The bezel on mine is tight and it is not gunked up as it is new. Would silicone oil sort it out? thanks
@@thenande I popped my bezel off from time to time and made sure the spring underneath was lined up properly. A knife between the bezel and case should be enough to pop it off
@@benmfisher94 Thanks! I don't know how mine is so stuck, I would press until my right hand hurts from the knife handle and it would not bulge. I'm glad you could, that gaves me some inspiration to keep trying.
Does anyone here know.... I have a Black Monster 2, I would like to Mod the Bezel with a Pepsi style Bezel... what would fit and if they are sold... where? I can't find anything on it.
Im getting a 150m quartz Pepsi diver. I was thinking on replacing the complete bevel for a black one. Any one can please tell me where can I buy one ? Thanks a lot.
I actually use Swiss Army Knife Victorinox can opener works like a charm but not everyone has one and I always try to find a common household item.. great suggestion though someone will see it and find it helpful
I have fixed the scratches and chips already. For anyone interested I used a metal file to file down the dents to be smooth then sanded the case with a 1000 grit sandpaper in back and forth motion to recreate the brushed finish. Good as new.
Hey guys i have a problem. I did this while switching the standard bezel to a red one, everything went smooth but the small metal disk with two notches in it (the ones that go into the two little holes) and i made a mistake and bent it. Now, bezel is just like a vostok amphibia, i can turn it both directions and it makes no clicking noise when i turn it. Is it still ok? is the water resistance still good?
EDC Gunner hey man really appreciate the quick reply. Yeah i just put the ring back, but to be honest i prefered the loose bi directional action without the ring, haha just like amphibia
I will tell you a secret, you don’t to pry the watch with whole bezel cuz you would surely leave the marks, just turn it backwards and dip in alcohol then wait for ten minutes and gently pry with no.1 screwdriver, sweet spot is where crystal and bezel meet.
silicone grease..can't be more specific than that, the brand does not matter.....can be bought anywhere...check auto stores for "dielectric grease", which is just silicone grease....

+TheStig ZeroZeroZero as they should be .. Seiko Bezels are one of the smoothest I have ever had
Going to do it today with my SRP309 orange monsters with stuck bezel. Wish me good luck :-)
Good vid! Instead of a dull knife you can use hard plasic removal pry bars if you worry about scratches.

Благодаря, стана лесно. Имаше натрупано наноси, трябваше да ги отстранявам със спирт и клечка за зъби.
Many thanks struggled at first to get the bezel back on but popped back nicely with a coat of vaseline on the seal. Cheers

Beautiful strap ! Where do you take it ?

Thanks for the good video. I see people swap out their bezels to get a different look on some watches...do they have to be from the same manufacturer and model, or just same diameter?
I have the same question
Thanks. Just used two pieces of wood. Not upside-down since I was afraid that the ring would be misplaced. Worked too on my Baby Tuna
That's the savage way, there is tools to remoove a bezel properly without risking to completly scatch the watch or even deeply cut you finger.
Newb question: What are the tools that one would use to swap out a bezel?
I use a katana sword
For $10 on Amazon you can get a whole set of watch back removal pry tools. Works perfectly.
Look for the ones with the large yellow plastic handles.
Are tools....savage
I have this synthetic oil I use on stuck bezels works pretty good except for the worst of them.
i have clean it but it still stuck!! any tips ? some grease maybe?
Thank you so much for this video. it has helped me to repair my almost 30 yo seiko 7T34, where the bezel was stuck.
cheers
Doing these way there is a chance you bend the ring or it came out the guidance holes
I have a dull cheap kitchen knife just like that which I purposely never sharpen. It worked perfectly!

Hey EDC Gunner- What's the name of that strap? I really like that style
hi, can you tell me the inner and outer sizes of the belez?
Does anyone here know.... I have a Black Monster 2, I would like to Mod the Bezel with a Pepsi style Bezel... what would fit and if they are sold... where? I can't find anything on it.
Is there a way to make the bezel move more smoothly and easily than before?
after cleaning it should be much smoother also the wire can be bent a little bit but I would not recommend you doing it as you may break it
Define "Bend the wire" please? By the way i did give her a clean and a tiny touch of machine lube and she is more smooth than before.

nice, easier than I thought. just got my strapcode super oyster bracelet with submariner clasp for my skx173.
+clay houghland sweet :)
Bazel is one way or 2 way ?
@@manusudha4269 one way
i have a double doomed crystal fitted already how am i supposed to press back the bazel against the floor or carpet
If you have a socket set use a large socket.
Nice video...just did mine and your video worked great.
Good video and great explanation! 👍
Don't use a potato peeler for this. Two feeler gauges (.006 and .007) will work better and won't scratch up the case.
I actually use Swiss Army Knife Victorinox can opener works like a charm but not everyone has one and I always try to find a common household item.. great suggestion though someone will see it and find it helpful
Haha I totally scratched up my watch case removing the bezel. I am going to need to sand it now.

Same here! Broke out the 1000 grit, Scotch Brite and some polish it get almost right..
You make it look simple.

bent it back where they were or you can buy replacement water resistance is not compromised

EDC Gunner so i can throw out this ring or what
I wouldn't be throwing it store is somewhere safely in case you change your mind
EDC Gunner ok i will store it with my watch stuff thanks for this help man 👍👍
Thanks! I tried with a book and with carpet. Even when it got completely flat it still will not rotate :( I'm thinking of using a case back press
maybe you should remove it and inspect the problem , maybe the wire is not installed properly ..
would this work for a Seiko Sea Urchin?
just be careful
Does anyone know where I can get one of those rings? My bezel won't move without it
Cool tutorial! I'll have to try that sometime.
+Jack Cole I wouldn't do it unless I need to do something with it :)
I've got one thats hard to turn, don't know if it would help to remove it and clean it or not, but it might be worth a try.
very interesting video sir, now I know how it's done, thanks for sharing.
+robito hans Si Senor!
Can i make this on my rolex sub?
No mate let the trained pros do it
Can i wash the watch with water after i take the bezel off??
yes
Okay, thanks ;D
I took the bezel off, but it was pretty clean under the bezel. my problem was that the o ring needed lubrication.
I will tell you a secret, you don’t to pry the watch with whole bezel cuz you would surely leave the marks, just turn it backwards and dip in alcohol then wait for ten minutes and gently pry with no.1 screwdriver, sweet spot is where crystal and bezel meet.

Lots of yakkety-yak about how to line up the pins with the holes ... and not a single mention of what to lubricate the bezel with.
you lubricate gaskets with some silicone grease
