I've never seen Santee that calm ! Lake Greenwood is my local lake, and thanks to your videos, I'm catching more cats every trip I make. Thank you Sir.
cross power station behind you. I live in Sumter SC and been fishing that lake my whole life. I am a bank fisher and fish off the pier on goat island, you have taught me a lot watching, thanks for all you do!!
Love the fishing videos can't wait until this fall when they really start biting good and the weather's not as bad how are you liking them catfish Pro reels I have several that I love
I’m going to fish lake Marion the first week of November. Got any tips on water depth to kinda get started fishing. I’ve never fished either lake before?
Good video Dieter . I remember when you and Mac were back and forth about chicken not being a good bait lol, he made a believer out of all of us didn't he. About the rods I remember using my Shakespeare ugly stick catfish rods and it did seem I had a good hookup ratio with those things.
Hopefully you have some luck. I've been out yesterday and today fishing the river down by underpasses and as far out as I can walk down the bank near downed trees and what not. And I've got a few nibbles but no big bites. Also what are those signs for?
I have switched to straight chicken bc of you. It has been very effective for lil eaters to the bigger older gals. Put my 12 yr old on our biggest Colorado channel last weekend. 17lb 10oz. Chicken is easy, plentiful, and the kitties love it
So I’ve had luck with chicken breast marinated in garlic paste, pepperoni, and shrimp and left in the sun. Even in stock ponds, 2 pieces of pepperoni folded into a pizza slice works really well.
Dieter you need to come to lake Murray....catch 10-15lb channel cats all day long and 30lb blues are plentiful also along with a straggler or 2 really big flathead
Less than 100 days til my annual trip to Lake Marion. My fishing buddy and I will be there from October 20th thru the 28th. We base out of the state park and plan on making a few trips down past the 95 bridge. In the past 2 years we have caught 95 % of our fish on chicken, plain and strawberry. I think this year we are gonna try taking the boat down to Moultrie and putting in there for at least one day. Typically we run into the wind and go wherever we get pushed. Majority of the fish we catch are in 6 to 15 feet of water. I caught my pb there 2 years ago ...36 1/2 pound blue, last year got one at 31 pounds. Hoping to eventually pass the 50 pound mark. I see where you're at, may need to go down around the islands and the power plant area too.
Great video Dieter. Some of my best days ever would break other peoples minds. 90+ degrees in 10ft or less water....never count the shallows out! Love the vid. Great work.
So ive been using a rod that i kinda inherited from my girlfriend's deceased grandfather who bought it in like the 30s. Its been doing well against catfish, but im buying my own and fishing it in pike, musky, walleye, pickeral, and bass infested water to name a few. Ill be doing shore fishing in and around docks. My question is, do you think ill need wire leaders if im using myofilament for only bass fishing, or should i be fine? With my luck, my first cast will be a record pike that'll break a few feet from shore.
Dieter you should come to the Waccamaw River and try chicken. I don’t really have good luck on it. Maybe your luck would be different. I fish from the bank though.
Garcias are the best reel for the price plus repairs can be made without a tech s degree .deiter thanks for ur reply ur a great sportsman I pray u have a great life
@@supabeast123 when you see how I put line out when trolling it all makes sense. If I was just casting and knocking it into gear it would be different.
Nice Blues Dieter, that chicken sure
is slaying them!!!
I always stay at Blacks camp...great place to stay.
I stay at black s when I go also.ive done great on the banks there as well as in boat

What was that I seen at 1:18 ? LOL, it happens to the best of us. Looked like a great time. Thanks for taking us along!
Lol good catch.
Dude, that happens daily!!! I am always dancing with the devil to get that extra foot of casting distance!
I really enjoy the pace of this video. Well done on the editing.
Great video Dieter
Last time I was on that lake with flat water we caught 6 fish all day. Great job!
Nice fishing trip Dieter you caught alot way to go enjoy your channel
Looks like those Santee Cooper cats love chicken 🐔 😋 . Who would have guessed 🤔 😏 😂
Have you seen the new Uglystick Catfish Special rods?
Lake has some big cats seen 75 lbs on chicken in that lake
great video big D!
What happened to the review on the kastking lol. Good to see this video cause I'm going to Santee this weekend

Ayyyyeee you're in my hometown! I prefer Marion to Moultrie but both lakes have awesome fishing.
In the video at 14:40 is that water on the camera lens or did that catfish ask to not be filmed?🤣
LOL!!!! It does look like a blurred out crime story video or something!!!!
What is that behind Dieter at 7:30 ? I assume they are big catfish getting the mussels on top of the water.
I had blues and stripers eating those mussels on top of the water......

They’ll still be all over the place. So many variables come into play during that time period. I would not focus deep or super shallow to start……

👍🏽nice fishing 🎣
Do you store the chicken you don’t use or use fresh each time you go out?Just curious what the shelf life is for fishing?
I use a fresh breast on each trip
Good video Dieter! Doin it again with chicken 🐔
what size/oz drift weights are you using. Great video!

Tough call, but I with heavier mono....
Is something on fire in the background there? One point you can see it pretty well is 10:31
Kudos for editing with all those cameras👍🏼
Has anyone fished with chicken on the shore...{bank fishling}? Plan to use a Santee Cooper Rig to keep bait just off the bottom.
My favorite place in the world
Good job!
Is it just raw chicken or do you add anything to it?
Dieter you should come to the Waccamaw River and try chicken. I don’t really have good luck on it. Maybe your luck would be different. I fish from the bank though.
Them ol bellies are full lol
What are the plates with the floats for? Do you prefer your chicken with or with out kool aid mixed with it?
Great videos!
Planer boards, plain chicken
When you going to swap out those garcias for the Daiwa reels
I’m sticking with the best….😜

I try chicken breast plain and kool-Aid I got nothing about turtle 🐢 so far idk what else I can do. I am fishing on cedar river
Bet your bootie chicken will work on the entire Santee River system.
Do u do fishing tours on Santee cooper
Only when I am down there for several days.....while I guide there, I don't consider myself a regular Santee guide
Do you ever fish lake Murray?
Why do mussels float on top of the water ?
Water gets too hot and they die off.
Because they are dead
There is a time in the summer as water temps climb that they die, leave the shell, and float to the surface
I have started using chicken and it out fishes all other baits. Here in Arkansas the fish just absolutely demolish the chicken.
Are you using just any cut? Thighs over breasts? Notice any difference if so?
@@bradmartin3289 I have found no difference between white and dark meat, except the white meat gets hit first. Both catch fish.
Same here over in nebraska. Chicken is quickly becoming a confidence bait for me.
You should really clarify which lake rather than lump them. One is full of monster blues...the other is full of broken lower unit parts lol.
Seem like chicken will have no smell like cut shad or blue gill
Can you tell me how to sex a fish I mean how can you tell a male from the female in catfish ?
You sure do bird nest your reels alot 🤨
Ya, I back the tension all the way off to make letting line out easier.......
@@DieterMelhorn Just a little weird way to use a baitcaster.
