As an avid United supporter since the early 60 I find this whole sale saga quite depressing . Post Busby in the early 70s was awful resulting in relegation in '74 The 70/80s were bearable but Liverpool winning leagues and European Cups regularly often put a dampner on the odd cup win we had then. Along comes Fergie and after a rocky start he turns us into an unbelievable winning machine due to his commitment and work ethic.I often wonder what he must be thinking about how all his hard work in making United the global attraction we became under his guidance is now being wasted by greedy parasites far away in USA.

I’ve been a fan since the early 70’s … I remember Busby’s final game, it was terrible back then. Useless Frank and George Best in self destruct. Relegation and promotion with Tommy - up until Fergie, he was my favourite Manager. Utd wasn’t a popular team to support at my school. Liverpool were unstoppable and Man City were mostly above us and spending more than us. But, back then it was honest! I was at the 76’ cup final when Southampton beat us 1-0. Watched the 77’ final on TV and after beating Liverpool 2-1, I thought we’d made it. Then Docherty fired and Sexton was a waste of space. We have always been a soap opera. I blame Martin Edwards for cashing out and letting the Glazers in. He wasn’t liked, but he was good for the club. He sold off his dads legacy when he didn’t need to. After years of the Glazers … I wish that Edwards had been more loyal to the club and his dad despite the fans. I think it was the fans fault he cashed out. Everything after that has been smoke and mirrors at the Glazers ATM. Fergie was amazing to do so much with so little … but in reality he powered their ATM machine. Once he retired the wheels have been falling off. We’ve had no investment in infrastructure, no investment in facilities and we’ve had a circus of bad decisions, bad coaching and bad signings. The club is the most toxic I’ve seen it. I’m praying for a miracle … I’m praying for the GLAZERS to sell so we can once again be run as a serious football club and not as a debt ridden cash cow!

Compared to the Glazers, I now think I was wrong about Edwards. On reflection, and compared to the current owners, and for the fact he got us Fergie, I now think he was good by comparison and wish he’d stayed to keep the debt and the parasitic Glazers out.

This interview pretty much solidified my approach to United as a fan the last two years. I’ve been a fan of United since 1997 but the more I’ve seen and read about the Glazers in the last 5-6 years,it’s clear this club is never going to be challenging for trophies post-Fergie because of the Glazers.
Being a United fan is great but at the same time it’s an embarrassment because the Glazers use this club as their own ATM. Owners who don’t reinvest in the club are not in it for football and they are failing their fanbase. Folks love Man United from afar. Stop putting money in the pockets of these unserious owners. Stop following their social media platforms and stop buying their jerseys. The Glazers year after year they are disrespecting their fans both in Manchester and abroad.

      a) 16 trophies were win under their full ownership, irrespective of SAF, we're talking about the owners,
      b) They're business ppl, coz footy is big business as you're well aware, so they don't care about a left back, centre back or right back...their only concern is the green back,
      c) Every fan that decides to support Man Utd, does so out of his / her own volition, I mean no one had a gun against his / her head to support the club,
      d) Let freedom reign from the centre circle of the Emi to the leaky roof of OT, so if you ain't happy with the way the club is ruin, oops, run...the Etihad is only a couple of miles away, or there might even be a ssn ticket seat with your name on at Carrow Rd...ok my good friend...respect 🤝

@@fearlessformidableferociou8623 Appreciate the response and the small little jokes in between lolol. Completely agree, fans are free to do what they want but I wanted to put it into context that the Glazer family are laughing at us. This club is their ATM and that’s it. It’s extremely insulting how they treat this club and it’s right in our faces. Even as a disenchanted MUFC fan, I’m first a fan of the game PERIOD! So my Saturdays and Sundays are watching matches from across the top 5 European leagues.
As for your City comment, I’ll never root for City. Never EVER LOL. Some United fans might hate me saying this but IDC, I’ve been following this club and football in general since before some of them were born. I dislike City but to a degree I give their owners props because, they’re run like an actual FOOTBALL club. They have the right people in the right positions, making the right football decisions. Regardless of how much money and spending power a club has, you still need a concept (style of play/philosophy) and competence to run a top flight football club that can challenge for trophies every year.

The crowd sang songs mocking him having a stroke, when he died the call from the director of communications was to keep the vitriol to a minimum.

The problems the Glazers have, if they remain, are only going to iteratively reduce the value of Utd given how they will continue to run the club.
No investment in the ground, if continued the costs increase to potential bidders (whether that takes the form of redevelopment or building a new one) = lower offer. Same goes for the training facilities.
No sizeable reduction in debt, means interest payments will rise as interest rates increase = lower offer from potential bidder (since there'll be punitive charges for paying off early as the Glazers will never dream of doing that, so sign up to maybe get a lower rate).
No significant changes of fortune on the pitch, due to their ownership, means lower income from sponsorship = lower offer from potential bidders.
TV rights will at best remain static, and TV income from Champions league is directly linked to on pitch performance. Again a lower offer.
Then there's the fan unrest and the unpredictability as to how that manifests, but that won't put the club in a good light and even could mean that it continues following change of ownership (depending upon who that may be) = lower offer.
All of this adds up in the eyes of the buyer, not to mention revamping the staff behind the scenes that they will inevitably want to do, as it won't just be a hiring fest (admittedly a small sum compared to others mentioned, but time is money and that means delays on projects/goals/action).
The trust fund morons don't have a clue, but they'll only realise when it's too late for Utd.

All enjoyment is literally being monetised out of football year on year with extreme wealth and debt like this. And given that the owners can't even fix the bastard roof I doubt they'll be able to afford the IT infrastructure for virtual reality and shirt cams, let alone impliment it at a fair price for fans. They're taking a huge gamble on things that may well never materialise, and all by lumping huge layers of unsustainable debt on the club. There's also the question of whether more digital gimmicks are even a positive in football. VAR has been a shambles since the day it came in, how are they going to do shirt cams for one team who could then potentially use that footage to contest refereeing decisions if the opposition don't have it? This novelty Americanisation of the sport really will be the death of it.

Plus this club is playing like a midtable club and if we get relegated then the club will be completely worthless and it maybe only then that the Glazers will be bailing out!

the only people talking are the buyers. Not the Glazers. They will sell only when they get the price they want. And It's not about digital camera's or AI. You value the club on the growth potential of all revenue streams. And you mention chelsea stadium being on prime real estate. But coming from an American sports perspective. It's not great because it's small, US sports wise, you can't expand it easily, You'd need to expand it to monetize the amount of lucrative luxury boxes, You can't build valuable parking, So the value of the land isn't a big factor in the worth of the stadium. From the Glazer's perspective they'd rather be able to build a new stadium or massively rebuild O.T. because there's more room. But they'll sell when they get a price they want. Nohing will change that.
