I have the momentum 4 SE and you can remove the earpads without breaking them. In my experience you can grab a ledge on the upper back behind your ear, where the plastic ring is held in place with some plastic clips. So you just need to peel them off.
I have the xm5 from sony and the B&W px7 S2 and I notice the following; I use this for watching TV; both connect very well with the TV and have no interruptions. The 2 big differences; The B&W has slightly better sound quality, but the Sony has more, or perhaps the best, ear comfort. In the beginning the b&w will hurt the ears, you have to be patient in the beginning, after a certain time the b&w will get better. I find it a difficult choice between the two ;). They are both so good and one has the advantage of better sound quality and the other has better wearing comfort. I can't judge anything else, I only use it indoors and to watch TV. Both are recommended. But since in Belgium the xm5 costs 339 euros and the b&w costs 229 euros, I think it would be better to go for the b&w. What I do have in favor of the B&W is charging; If I use a USB-C plug, it does not charge, if I use a USB-A plug it does charge and if I plug it into the PC to charge with the USB-C cable, it also works. It just doesn't work here with a USB-C plug.
Great comparative review. I got the Momentum 4, I liked the $300 price tag, they sound fabulous, with good Bass, and the battery lasts forever. I have had them for a few weeks now and have not had to re-charge them yet !
I got the Momentum 4's based on all the reviews I have seen, but there is a problem with the drivers being unbalanced with more sound coming from one side over the other. For me it was the right ear which had noticeably more bass than the left, and more sound overall, and the replacement pair I got had the same exact issue. As it turns out, there are a lot of people who have had the same problem and, while some people claim they have fixed/mitigated the issue, no one potential solution seemed to work for everyone equally, and none of them worked for me. If they fix that issue (either with a firmware update, or an entirely new "version 2" model depending on the cause of the issue) then I will go back to them since they definitely had the best sound out of all the headphones I've tried so far (Bose QC45/NC700, and Sony XM4/XM5). Until then, I think I will go with the Px7 S2's, or possibly wait until after the end of the year when (hopefully) something better comes out.
Same here with my first pair of M4s… got a replacement recently and its definitely a little better than the first one but the bass imbalance still remains ever so slightly. It’s an issue that was highlighted by a review written by the soundguys as well. But the sound profile of the M4s still blows me and I prefer them to the Sony XM5s
This was yet another comparison that I was really looking forward to. Thank you! I had a hard time deciding between the PX7 S2 and the Momentum 4 as a successor for my PXC 550 (first generation). I didn't hear any noticeable difference in terms of instrument separation between the two (only tested in a hi-fi store), but I agree with you that the Momentum 4 have the better bass (better sub bass extension, cleaner and more headroom for boosts), while the PX7 S2 have tidier mids (more neutral, the Momentum 4 push certain frequencies slightly for their signature sound). Treble, detail and soundstage were on par in my impression. I also agree with comfort for the most part: the PX7 S2 have the roomier earpads and fit my big ears better. On the Momentum 4, my ears could touch the driver very slightly. But i felt more clamping force compared to the Momentum 4. I finally decided to go for the Momentum 4, even though I like the look & feel of the PX7 S2 a lot better, because: - I like being able to push the bass more on the go, even though I actually prefer a neutral sound signature (using Beyerdynamic DT 880 at home) - I don't want to miss some things that I know from my PXC 550 (aware mode, call features and quality, and I'm used to that touch control) - I'm looking for a noticeable improvement in ANC - but the most deciding factor: they were 25% cheaper than the PX7 S2 I'm just hoping that the most major software issues are fixed by now, at least very soon. I didn't have any software issues with the PXC 550. I also hope that I can wear them for hours like the incredibly comfortable PXC 550.
@@Anonymous-wt4lx The M4 bass is not boomy at all, but has a good rumble in the sub bass, like a subwoofer, but cleaner. This pushes kick drums and synth basses but keeps bass guitars clean. It's really special in a very good way, you have to experience it. Actually, the bass on the PX7 S2 can get slightly more boomy when boosted (not nearly as bad as Sony headphones sound by default because).

I can confirm the s2 sound fantastic, I’ve had them since the day they were released. The bass is actually very tight and plenty powerful, any more is overkill in my opinion. I tried the Xm4 and xm5 and thought they had too much bass and it muddied the waters so to speak

I am sitting at a Starbucks right now, listening to this on the background while working, and wearing the Momentum 4s.... this don't block any noise... I am tempted to return them and get the AP Max
Very comprehensive comparison. I had to go with the momentum’s for the price. On sale around half the price of the pods and less than the PX7 at $350 CA before tax. I got the denim colour which I’ve noticed no reviews tend to display, it’s a very nice colour. And I’m really digging the sound quality for that price. Ive always been a Senheiser guy and have used momentum earbuds since wired and other over ear. I like that a lot of people don’t even know about Senheiser, or didn’t back in the day. Bit of a cult following. But I admit for me the look of the B&W is by far the best here. I have a B&W formation wedge speaker and it’s pretty impressive. But like most of their stuff the bass is a bit lacking.
As usual, very informative review, but, I was all for upgrading to M4 Wireless from my current PXC 550-II, and this makes me wonder if PX7 S2 should be be the option! I really like the Sennheiser sound signature.
Get them for sure. I have them and I've tesed the Sony XM4 and XM5 and Sennheisers can put both of these two into pocket very easily with their sound. ANC is a little worse but just neglegable difference in highs and you can only hear them when the music is not playing. Haven't tried the PX7S2 tho.
I have to say the Bowers & Wilkens have an absoluty beautiful design but i am a Sennheiser fan in terms of sound. Really don't like this current design though, it is very cheap looking. That's why i will wait till the momentum 5 will arrive with hopefully a better design.
FYI, the PX7 S2 are vegan and do NOT use real leather, they use faux leather, though to be fair it is quite a nice one, and the arms are plastic, while the cup thingy where it says Bowers & Wilkins seems to be aluminium. It is the PX8 the one that has real leather.
One thing I always tell people is sennheiser just doesn’t do ANC and wireless well. Their app kinda sucks and the connectivity is somehow worse. My MTW3s anc and transparency stopped working at one point just straight up, they also mess the sound up when on. Have a wired pair from them for 7 years that while it has its flaws from aging, it still sounds absolutely amazing.
@Gabriel Gledhill fair enough, pretty sure I meant to type true wireless, like earbuds. Those seems to have a high failure rate no matter what company makes them.
Fantastic! For my ears, the M4's has an increidble bass and cleaner highs. I love Gorillaz, the base in their songs are so 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 which one headphones you'd say is the best for that kind of music genre? Best video ever, you got a new sub, my bro! 🤙🏻🤜🏻🤛🏻
I have the bowers and wilkins px8 (I know this the s2) not to far off from each other but I'd probably go with the sennheiser m4s as I've had the headband literally peal off the px8s. In terms of sound I'd say the m4s are better but I went with the px8 just because they feel amazing to wear you feel like you're on a first class flight.
Hi man. First I really love your videos. And I need your help, I really want to buy the momentum 4 but I would like to if they have dealt with the connections problem? It will really help me decide.
@@sathira_anuk5179 i had all, the PX7s2e!crushing the game but i miss sometimes that bumpy bass, (but clarity, instrument separation vocals) different lvl.
Hey man, you haven't made any videos on the Tribit Stormbox pro. Please make a detailed comparison of Tribit Stormbox Pro vs JBL Flip 6 vs JBL Flip 5 as they are similarly priced.
Momentum 4 really does miss the mark with comfort. They look like they should be so comfortable and somehow they’re not. The headband sucks and creates a pressure point at the top of your head, which seems to be the only part of the headband that actually touches your head.
One Thing that would interest me, as I have many problems with "cabin pressure" whilst using ANC-Overears: How are die PX7S2's compared to the Momentum 4's? I've tested the M4's a few weeks back but can't find a Model of the PX's to try on ^^
did you also return your M4s because of the high cabin pressure? I liked the Sennheiser really much, but I got sick of the pressure. I am used to ANC for years (Beyerdynamic Lagoon ANC and multiple Jabra ANC Headsets), but I can't stand the Sennheisers. My Px7 S2s should arrive on Monday. I hope that they are finally the "right ones" for me ;-)
@@stefanlasser3872 I've only tested them in a showroom - seeing the wear on the (glued) Earpads was my first reason to not buy them. Actually I had (compared to Sonys offerings) only minor problems with cabin pressure. But I don't know which mode they we're set to. I'm really hoping to find a pair with no cabin pressure (for my ears) soon. All people mention Airpods Max in this regard. But I refuse buying them as an Android-User.
I gotta disagree on the mics. I don't know if it sounds differently when wearing them but listening to the mic test for me the PX7 S2 sound the best and clearest in all 3 scenarios
Damn it’s getting kinda hard to pick now, I thought the momentum 4 were gonna be the best of all but with this review it didn’t exactly sound like it. I do like how the bowers look more premium compared to the momentum’s, and I like how the AirPod max have much better build materials, I think I’m probably gonna take all 3 along with the Sony XM4 or 5 if not. Although that may be hard for me as a guy who only makes around 350 at most a week
B&W px7 s2 doesn't have real leather!!! faux-leather is what lines the memory foam earpads & headband cushions, the Px8 has real leather, also sennheiser has the loudest volume of all these & you can test that with a sound/decibel meter.
I had the momentum 4s and I was so excited but it never worked out because the clamp force was to strong for me and the noise canceling wasn’t as good as my Sonys but the sound was far superior it’s just annoying hear outside noise
Thats what happened w my Senheisser 450 bt. Its hard finding a headphone with good clamping force. Ive heard the Bose qc 45s are really good but im also kind of leaning towards the px7s
I wish more people would know about them (and get a chance to test them, they are really hard to find in stores). Technics should really do some more marketing and distribution, they're pretty good! But not perfect... I tried them and considered buying them for quite some time, before the PX7 S2 and the Momentum 4 came out. The Technics have slightly better ANC than the other two, also great comfort, maybe also the best of the bunch. But even though they sound better than most of their competitors in their price range, I found their bass to be somehow wooly and undefined. They have a strong mid/upper bass, but it feels like it's slow and reverberating. They also lack sub bass extension, especially compared to the Momentum 4. The mids are too recessed for my taste, maybe similar to the AirPods Max. Treble is nice and clear, lots of detail, great soundstage. And they are said to sound awesome via cable (fixing their bass problems), which I couldn't test. Another plus is that they fold, but on the head they are very bulky and big. And they rattle quite a bit. Even though the Momentum 4 looks painfully plain, they still look better on my head and also feel more premium. The PX7 S2 is in a whole other league however. I finally went for the Momentum 4, but I think either of the 3 is a great pick, depending on your needs and expectations.
Its so ridiculous that the Airpods max don't have an off button. I bought them 2 days ago and saw that it just sits there sipping battery even in low power mode, even in their case. It takes a full 18 hours before they are switched off automatically. Until then its just wasting battery. Returned them today because of this and a myriad of other major dealbreakers. No wired connection without an Apple 30$ cable (which is flimsy as fuck by the way), no universal EQ, the headband mesh loses its elasticity over time and therefore the fit and comfort also becomes bad over time, stupid bra case, no multipoint with non Apple device and no USB-C port. This so unfortunate because I loved the sound quality, controls, ANC/Transparency and their premium feel. They are the best in their category when it comes to these features. But there are just too many mind boggling limitations and flaws thanks to Apple being Apple, it left a bad taste in my mouth.
Guys, you do realise that all of this is marketing? All of them sound kinda cheap and boosted, only ANC headphone that sounds good so far is the Anker life q30 with Oluv's eq, otherwise same as the others. Also, airpods pro are not far from the anker. All of the others I've heard are not even decent irrespective of price especially when you consider that you can get Senhieser hd6 series for that price or nearly Focal Elex on some discount.
The Momentum 3 still sound awesome. Similar to the Momentum 4, but I didn't do a direct comparison yet. Some prefer one, others prefer the other. I think both sound better than the old PX7, but the PX7 S2 improved by a lot in my opinion and now is on the same level as the Momentums. Just tuned more neutral, like @GYMCADDY also pointed out in the video.
I think the overall best headphone brand is Marshall. Marshall gets it right when it comes to price, quality and style. The only thing Marshall hasn't perfected with their headphones is the noise cancelling - the ANC isn't bad, but it just can't compare to the best of the best.
Agreed. Marshall monitor II ANC is a pair with great sound and the hearthrough works quite well when you need to hear outside sounds when wearing. They are what I gravitate to mostly. Their ability to fold up and take with me anywhere is another plus. I find them comfortable and after a couple years of using the build quality is superb. The app on the phone works quite well also, it gives plenty of options for sound.
Now I'm stuck, I was about to grab m4 but not anymore glued earpad in 2022 when competitors have introduced easy clip off/ clip on...really disappointed px7 s2, airpod or soundcore q45 it is if mpos h19 ipo completely fail on me over wired anc mode.
Even I'm confused. I was under the impression the momentum 4s were a clear winner, however I'm now having second thoughts. Let me know which route you take.

If PX7 S2 can handle vocal trance music then it can handle EVERY genre! I head apple have brighter signature sound wheras PX7 S2 have Darker/Warmer tube-amp like sound as i've used tube amp eq on Samsung before and its very very similar feeling immersed with their DSP 3d like audio damn it feels like Highres car audio, there is sparkle but they never pierce my ears with high's/snares/crashers etc absolutely love these pair and they came out June 2022 and Airpod max came out in 2020. Ill be up for sampling Airpod Max 2 once its released in spring 2023 around my birthday otherwise it might look too suspicious buying 2 expensive headphones and returning one as i've also returned Soundcore Q35, Sony XB910N and Sony XM4. Having tried Senhesier in the past i just know their sound is not for me, its for Audiophiles/soft listeners with big soundstage with not much dsp magic going on. I needed some oomps/excitment (non-dull sounding headphones but warm and dark which only xm7 s2 can deliver) with solid metal build construction with decent amount of clamping force for work gaming/working out and general music listening via Android aptx. Yet to try these with Creative Bluetooth aptx/aptx ll/aptx hd transmitter. (Aptx ll/hd might work for wireless gaming with a minimal lag). Airpod max top out at AAC codec and they will never cater to a non-apple audience with fancy new codecs that you expect from a £300+ headphone. If you're unsure don't waste money on Soundcore Q45, Sony XM series, M4, Technics EAH-A800, Bang and Olufsen H95 before trying PX7 S2 as they're currently the best sounding headphones I've personally tried sound so warm with zero harsh treble peaks.
If you’re reading this trust me, I wear my AirPods Max 11 hours a day every day since I bought them a month ago. They are the worlds most uncomfortable headphones

listening your review on the bowers and wilkins, they need more improvements on the software part but i love them, same color by the way.
Which are best for jazz music?❤
M4
@@sathira_anuk5179 i had all, the PX7s2e!crushing the game but i miss sometimes that bumpy bass, (but clarity, instrument separation vocals) different lvl.
Hey man, you haven't made any videos on the Tribit Stormbox pro. Please make a detailed comparison of Tribit Stormbox Pro vs JBL Flip 6 vs JBL Flip 5 as they are similarly priced.
Momentum 4 really does miss the mark with comfort. They look like they should be so comfortable and somehow they’re not. The headband sucks and creates a pressure point at the top of your head, which seems to be the only part of the headband that actually touches your head.
thanks!!!!! really helpful
One Thing that would interest me, as I have many problems with "cabin pressure" whilst using ANC-Overears:
How are die PX7S2's compared to the Momentum 4's?
@@stefanlasser3872 So, how are they (px7 s2) doing? You like them? How is ANC? I'm thinking about buying them
@@bleyer7821 returned them as the mic was faulty. No one could hear me
Try the new PX8!!! The sound is amazing and better than PX7 S2 ✌️
sure, they do not at the same price level
Better than the PX7s2 ?? More money yes but better sound ?,I think you have lost some money.
I gotta disagree on the mics. I don't know if it sounds differently when wearing them but listening to the mic test for me the PX7 S2 sound the best and clearest in all 3 scenarios
Thanks! I think I am going to go with Bowers & Wilkins Px7 S2, but the sad part is... it ain't available in India :/
Bro come on man 3 headphones you sound ridiculous
Which did you like the best
yo you're wild man just get one dude
u cant tel much diff in the video but when u go in person and try them its really easy
Just don’t eat for a month. Very simple
Very good and helpful video.
Hmm... Battery life vs B&W.... (and about $250)
Finally! Thanks. :) 🎉
Had to hold on to it due to the algorithm.
Do you have a review of the Master and dynamic mw75 in the pipeline? If not can you do one?
theyre crap
@@falcodarkzz ok
Isn't it the worst when you buy a product and then a RUclipsr shits on what you just bought. Shit
Still no comparison with the technics A800s?
B&W px7 s2 doesn't have real leather!!! faux-leather is what lines the memory foam earpads & headband cushions, the Px8 has real leather, also sennheiser has the loudest volume of all these & you can test that with a sound/decibel meter.
ThanksMuch!
Which Sonys did you have that had better ANC?
Please make a review for Tecnhics EAH A800. They’re getting quite positive reviews
Did Sennheiser eat your lunch or something?
Maybe, because during the mic test the sennheiser was a obvious win.
Iam on my 2nd m4's and both are louder on the right ear cup. Should i go for 3rd or everyone has this issue?
But there are just too many mind boggling limitations and flaws thanks to Apple being Apple, it left a bad taste in my mouth.
at the very beginning you said predecessor when you should have said successor 😅😅😅
Just wanted to make sure that you were paying attention
The cup on Sony XM5 snapped..gotta send it in for repairs i guess. I still got the Bose QC 45 though
Which has better sound quality between the two?
@@md6722 Xm5 sounds better..has deeper bass. Both has great ANC. Bose has very clear mids though. XM5 disconnects sometimes doesnt. Bose doesnt.
@@Mickieshelton understandable. I actually have the BOSE NC 700.
I am not surprised. I have had Sony m3 head band split on me and Sony did not stand by it.
Guys, you do realise that all of this is marketing?
All of them sound kinda cheap and boosted, only ANC headphone that sounds good so far is the Anker life q30 with Oluv's eq, otherwise same as the others.
Also, airpods pro are not far from the anker.
All of the others I've heard are not even decent irrespective of price especially when you consider that you can get Senhieser hd6 series for that price or nearly Focal Elex on some discount.
check your first minute and understand word meaning.. successor
MX5 best ANC - px7 sound - momentum 4 baseline in all areas
What about comfort?
@@sealsho2205 Mx5
would you say sound quality wise the momentum 3s are still relevant?
compared to PX7s?
The Momentum 3 still sound awesome. Similar to the Momentum 4, but I didn't do a direct comparison yet. Some prefer one, others prefer the other. I think both sound better than the old PX7, but the PX7 S2 improved by a lot in my opinion and now is on the same level as the Momentums. Just tuned more neutral, like @GYMCADDY also pointed out in the video.
PX8 are tomorrow
thanks for the heads up, but I'm busy with the boombox 3 and afterwards earbuds. AirPods Pro 2, Bose QC earbuds 2, Pixel Buds Pro, Galaxy Buds 2 Pro,

Air pod maxs are so itchy
"Successors"
Successors* not predecessors
@@arshdeepmehta8689 bro I wrote this review on reddit, if you're interested in airpod max then wait for airpod max 2 but if u can't wait then definrtly try or pick up px7 s2 no point with px8 as same 30 hour battery;
Just received my px7 s2 today after trying Sony Xm1, Xm2, Xm3, Xm4, Bose QC35 and Soundcore Q10/Q20/Q35, and also Sony Xb910n, damn they blow everything away and i read yes apple airpod max bass is better thanks to I their real-time dsp but i'm canceling the order for Airpod max firstly they're too loose for walking/working out/treadmil and pretty happy with px7 s2 got these for £370.00 they're dark/3d sounding with unbelievable instrument separation/clarity with vocals.
I have a pair of Momentum 4 and he's wrong : the pads are NOT GLUED. I did successfully remove them and put them back without issue.
Airpon max😂
A lot of base bro 😂
Px8 Vs these??? Lol
Do u have The Jbl boombox 3
If you’re reading this trust me, I wear my AirPods Max 11 hours a day every day since I bought them a month ago. They are the worlds most uncomfortable headphones
Airpods sucks.
It’s kind of ridiculous apple is…
This is not an Objective Review. Sorry!
How so? Not even saying I disagree, just curious & curious what headphone u prefer
Airpod Max all the way is your priority is sound and build quality, I would say!
Sony XM5's better than all these.
lmao that's comedic, laughable, you're not an audiophile or quality listener, you're an ass consumer. These are the best headphones with ANC sub $450 range. Now with out ANC they're are many other audiophile based headphones in the $300-500 range.
@@ainjuhl4509 you don’t know what I am sir. Sony is the best in the business. These other brands are just catching up. Good for them. The XM5’s are the golden standard for ANC headphones 🎧. Anyone with right sense knows that.
