As a child who went through “the system”, most of us don’t turn out “alright”. We gain a lot of trauma from our experiences. Some kids are taken from terrible situations which is great but some of us get taken from homes that care and take great care of us. That teacher saying tons of kids that go through the system turn out fine, yeah, we turn out “fine” after so much therapy and years of healing.

Honestly I woulda reported the teacher when she threw that lunch away tbh.
For people out there feeling bad for the young moms or in this case guardians, yes it's sad, but it is also important to remember that boys or girls that have to take care of kids at such a young age also learn many skills, like how to deal with things on your own, working, paying bills and most most importantly, responsibility, which many people learn too late in life.
