This is wonderful. I honestly feel it's complete truth that if everyone had a creative hobby of some sort, the world would be tremendously different/better from how it is today. Spread creativity and compassion for your fellow man and the world will change.
"but you do what you have to do, especially when you're mentally unbalanced and have a model railroad" I'm going to start using this phrase all the time. Thank you
Thank you, and that's really nice to hear. Working on this layout continues to give me a great deal of enjoyment & satisfaction. I'm happy that you like it.
This is wonderful - it occurred to me that a useful addition to the outside area might be a small play area for toddlers who might be too small to go on the ride - just a suggestion, but overall, blown away by the whole thing - fantastic and heartening to know that great minds do still exist ☺👍
Wow! Love it dude! I really admire how youve taken a wee bit of your past (Coney Island etc) and some of the now (honouring your wife with her own food stand) Makes this a beautifullt personal layout and one that Im sure it a great pleasure just to sit and watch. Extra bonus points for the fireworks!!
Adrian, I looked - before writing the same suggestion as you did - around for a comment like yours and here we are, indeed! ;-) I like almost every model and this one here is awesome. But always the interrupting speed disbalance..... A flywheel could be a solution and hen it works, it would be fantastic......!!! (?)
Paulie you are great. Your craftsmanship is second to none. Have you ever thought of making the cars go in motion? I enjoy your layout, your imagination and the work you have put into it. Please keep it coming.
I have been looking into the Faller system, and having run out of space to expand, it would not surprise me if that is the next direction my layout takes. If you want to be notified of updates, subscribe if you haven't already, and thanks for the comment.
you prolly dont care but does someone know a method to log back into an Instagram account..? I somehow lost my login password. I would love any tricks you can give me!
@Clayton Eden thanks so much for your reply. I found the site through google and I'm trying it out atm. I see it takes quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Lance,Thanks for your comment. I've finely run out of room, so all future projects will be additions & upgrades to the existing layout as I did with the roller coaster..
Everything is great, but I ran out of room a while ago and my business has been crazy-busy the last year. If I can find the time and inspiration for an upgrade I'll make a new video, but for now I'm just enjoying the layout.
Wow. It looks just like the old Cyclone roller coaster in what was Paragon Park in Nantasket Beach MA. They had a much bigger roller coaster there too and it was called the Comet.
You do good work. I dig it. You're the first person from Brooklyn that I've heard say it without the expletive which I normally pepper my everyday speech with, but I won't type it here out of respect, since you didn't say it. You know, the one that starts with f and ends with ing... Of course, I haven't met that many folks from there, but the ones I have met all said it. Anyways, like I said, great work man. Dig it.
Only way I could see is to have a motor controlled train for the coaster that would have a programmed speed cadence to simulate real life, and similarly other motion controlled elements.
hey so i just want to thank you for giving me that extra motivation to fix my layout up (though you may not have known) i love the look of your layout and now i cant wait to finish the basics of mine and get the big idea for future layout projects
Nice model! Never been to Coney Island. Sounds like you know it well. I couldn’t imagine a roller coaster that does 200 mph through the dips. A lot of unconscious and sick people I would think. And lots of whiplash. Lol.
"...Maybe a soft shell crab sandwich and a lobster roll..." never heard of a Lobster Roll but now I got to dig out that 2 pound bag of Jumbo Wild Caught DEEP sea SCALLOPS from the freezer I was saving, you made me so hungry!
Wow, love the rollercoaster! Looks like the actual Cyclone! Also love the beach as well, but is there any ocean? This Coney Island layout is coming along great, keep it up!
It's a combination of running out of space and my business (bonsaiofbrooklyn.com) getting crazy-busy since so many people are either being forced to stay home or working from home. There's no more room to expand the layout, so now I do little detail improvements and mostly just have fun seeing how long I can keep 5 freight trains, 3 passenger trains, two elevated subway trains and 2 trollies running without a train wreck. I built this layout to have fun, and it pays off big-time every time I go to the basement.
I totally agree. My layout currently covers 400 to 500 square feet, and since the roller coaster was put in place, my first stop is right in front of it. When I watch it, I go from 74 to 9 years old in one quick leap. What could be better than that?
Thanks. By the way, it's about 99% sure that I will be incorporating the Faller Car System onto my layout. I am looking into details, and will probably be placing an order for equipment this week. As soon as I get the first section up & running, I'll be posting a new video. If you have subscribed to my RUclips channel, they will notify you when it's up.
After 8 years of expanding into every available space, I have run out of room. If I am able to make changes that support a new video, I will make one. Until them I am enjoying running my railroad.
I completely ran out of room after expanding as far left as I could go (Amusement park) and as far right to the end of the basement (winter scene which required cutting 3 holes into a foundation wall to access the next room.) Since then I have been adding to the scenery. I'll probably do a video soon showing the improvements and upgrades.
Hi, I was born and raised in Bay Ridge now living in Boca. I'm in the process of building an HO setup and I want to include Coney Island in the design. Can you tell me where you found the parachute ride in the background?. I'd like to add the man attractions of Coney Island that will include the cyclone roller coaster, wonder wheel, parachute drop, astrotower, Nathans and what not. Very impressive setup, the animation is incredible. Your voice sounds very familiar to me for some reason, wonder if we ever met in Brooklyn.
I bought the 4 rides (other than the new Cyclone roller coaster) at Train World here in Brooklyn, but they no longer have it on their site. I checked around and I was unable to find it for sale. You can search under "Mr. Christmas World's Fair Animated Musical Table Top Carnival Parachute Ride." I looked at a few of the results and they all showed it as discontinued. Maybe you can find one on Ebay or some other site. As for my voice sounding familiar, I have operated Bonsai of Brooklyn since 1976, and played in various bands. Maybe you came to my store in the past, or heard me play. Anything is possible I suppose.
Hi Paulie, I guess timing is everything. After looking at your display I went hunting for that parachute jump. I got lucky when I found one on E-bay, got it for $50.00. But there were a few lights out. More good news, it turned out to be a bad solder joint. Took longer for the iron to heat up than to fix. If I didn't see it in your layout I never would of found it, thanks. I'll be checking in every now and then to pick up some pointers from your videos. Thank again
My additions are now more subtle. I filled my last bit of available space with the N Scale addition, and since then I have been adding and upgrading lighting and fine-tuning scenery. I'll probably shoot a new video before the winter is over. I just want to finish a few things first.
The one I built where the parking lot was is called "The Comet" by Coaster Dynamix. The other one came ready to use from Trainworld (available on their website) called "MR CHRISTMAS #79751 Grand Roller Coaster"
No, actually they are 2 cars which I painted and put "N" scale sitting people with their legs cut off from their knee down. I know, it sounds horrible, but it didn't hurt them at all.Seriously, I tried with H.O. scale people, but they were too big. I tried with three cars, but it ran too jerky so I wound up with just 2 cars. If you check the video, you'll see another 2 car set painted gold in the center of the base. That's from the original Comet I built. I made a fatal error when I spray-painted the tracks silver. I could not get the cars to go up the first hill after they come off the spring. I called Coaster Dynamix and was told that you cannot paint the rails. I tried sanding the paint off, applying silicone spray, then WD-40 then oil to the rails, but it would not work, so I bought a second one and now it works great. I run it with 2-2 car sets and it looks fantastic.
very nice layout I am just starting to add somethings to my layout I added Dodgem Cars Carousel I am adding the Rocket Ships I have also added a dance hall park office fun house my layout honors the memory of Euclid Beach Park in Cleveland Ohio I have a frozen whip stand and two food stands I made the office dance hall and fun house out of legos I have a battery operated fire works I will put a video up on youtube once its done
Wow. Fantastic, Paulie. I am in awe of your skill and talent. Truly inspiring! Thank you so much for sharing all with us.
This is wonderful. I honestly feel it's complete truth that if everyone had a creative hobby of some sort, the world would be tremendously different/better from how it is today. Spread creativity and compassion for your fellow man and the world will change.
Very nice. I like the fence, too. Even the parking lot.
Wow!! This is Amazing!! You are Very Talented and Patient!
"but you do what you have to do, especially when you're mentally unbalanced and have a model railroad" I'm going to start using this phrase all the time. Thank you
I put "mentally unbalanced" first because you can be mentally unbalanced without having a model railroad. The converse is is not necessarily true!
the layout especially the atmosphere is amazing not to mention the creativity
Thank you, and that's really nice to hear. Working on this layout continues to give me a great deal of enjoyment & satisfaction. I'm happy that you like it.
This is wonderful - it occurred to me that a useful addition to the outside area might be a small play area for toddlers who might be too small to go on the ride - just a suggestion, but overall, blown away by the whole thing - fantastic and heartening to know that great minds do still exist ☺👍
This is incredible! You did a terrific job.
Thank you.
Fantastic work. Hugs from Rio de Janeiro. Hoje i can visit Coney Island some day
Just amazing, you have done a super job. You are both an artist and civic engineer
Bobby, Too much to explain to do it by messaging back & forth. You can reach me at 9173253954 in the evening between 7:00 & 10:00.Paul
Wow! Love it dude! You are one crazy dude. God bless you.
Love your story telling, sir. Beautiful piece of work! Hopefully you will have an update video.
Looks amazing! I'm in Bay Ridge. Have a 1/64 slot car diorama in my apt. AND guess what? I used to give Paul's daughter guitar lessons 😁
Another great video ...spent a lot of time on the cyclone and Coney Island. Thanks for sharing
I had a blast building the roller coaster and re-doing the whole amusement park. I'm glad that so many people have liked it and commented on it.
Very nice job Paulie, really like your custom build Cyclone sign. Good show !
Please make an update video soon. Very much enjoy your amazing layout and your terrific narration and demeanor.
Someone should make roller coaster cars with flywheels to slow them down for realism.
You, my friend, are a genius
Not even close, but thank you for the thought. I'm just having fun doing something I wanted to do for years.
Paulie you are great. Your craftsmanship is second to none. Have you ever thought of making the cars go in motion? I enjoy your layout, your imagination and the work you have put into it. Please keep it coming.

Amazing build. Thanks for posting this.
Love it! My first train layout was an amusement perk, but I made everything from paper and cardboard. Lit everything up with grain of wheat bulbs.
you prolly dont care but does someone know a method to log back into an Instagram account..?
I somehow lost my login password. I would love any tricks you can give me!
@Antonio Heath instablaster :)
@Clayton Eden thanks so much for your reply. I found the site through google and I'm trying it out atm.
I see it takes quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Clayton Eden It did the trick and I finally got access to my account again. I am so happy!
Thanks so much you saved my account :D
@Antonio Heath glad I could help :)
Nice work !!! Thanks for sharing and keep up the great work.. Lance 🚂👍👍👍
Lance,Thanks for your comment. I've finely run out of room, so all future projects will be additions & upgrades to the existing layout as I did with the roller coaster..
Thank you. I had fun building it. I'm glad you liked it.
Thats a cool theme park
Great work on this Coney Island layout.. makes me so home sick.
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it.
Paulie haven’t hear from you in a while. Hope all is well . Enjoy your videos. Fantastic layout.
Everything is great, but I ran out of room a while ago and my business has been crazy-busy the last year. If I can find the time and inspiration for an upgrade I'll make a new video, but for now I'm just enjoying the layout.
Only missing the elevated tracks at West 8th next to Coney Island.
nice work on your layout
Thanks, it's been a lot of fun, and I will be adding the Faller Car System vehicles soon.
Wow. It looks just like the old Cyclone roller coaster in what was Paragon Park in Nantasket Beach MA. They had a much bigger roller coaster there too and it was called the Comet.
Love your work Paul! Keep it coming.
Thanks for the kind words. When you are having as much fun as I am, it's nice to know that it shows.
You do good work. I dig it. Great video, really enjoyed it!
Amazing layout and theme
Fantastic job. The dilemma i see with small models is how to slow movement down to exhibit realisim.

Fantastic !
Nice model! Never been to Coney Island. Sounds like you know it well. I couldn’t imagine a roller coaster that does 200 mph through the dips. A lot of unconscious and sick people I would think. And lots of whiplash. Lol.
"Jackson" ... THAT is what it's All About !! 👏👍👍
lazy RRR thanks. Glad you liked it .
Nathan's hotdogs,... hot knishes,... mmmmmmmmmmm... makes me hungry just looking at this fabulous layout! lol!
Now you got me hungry. I may have to go to Nathan's for lunch tomorrow. Maybe a soft shell crab sandwich and a lobster roll.
"...Maybe a soft shell crab sandwich and a lobster roll..."
never heard of a Lobster Roll but now I got to dig out that 2 pound bag of Jumbo Wild Caught DEEP sea SCALLOPS from the freezer I was saving, you made me so hungry!
Very interesting details!
Thanks for your comment. More to come.
Wow, love the rollercoaster! Looks like the actual Cyclone! Also love the beach as well, but is there any ocean? This Coney Island layout is coming along great, keep it up!
awesome!
just one word "WOW"!!!
Thanks, it's nice to know that it's appreciated.Paul
I luv it!! Great job!!
What are you doing nowadays? What’s happening with this great layout?
It's a combination of running out of space and my business (bonsaiofbrooklyn.com) getting crazy-busy since so many people are either being forced to stay home or working from home. I know what you mean..and totally agree, what a great hobby...happy railroading

Paul, when are you going to do an update video?
After 8 years of expanding into every available space, I have run out of room. If I am able to make changes that support a new video, I will make one. Until them I am enjoying running my railroad.
Any new additions to this awesome layout? Been a couple years.
Wow nice
Better add some trash cans around the picnic tables, pizza parlor and ice cream truck if you want the park to stay clean!
Wait..let's go back to where you have REAL water on your layout!!!! Wow! I'll have to find the video where you go into that.
Hi,
I was born and raised in Bay Ridge now living in Boca. I'm in the process of building an HO setup and I want to include Coney Island in the design. That's great, and a bargain to boot.
I'd live there.
1:39 That made me laugh. :-)
no mermaid parade?
May I ask, how much you paid for the comet coaster?
Have you done anymore work on the layout ? Havent seen anything from you in awhile
My additions are now more subtle. I filled my last bit of available space with the N Scale addition, and since then I have been adding and upgrading lighting and fine-tuning scenery. I'll probably shoot a new video before the winter is over. I just want to finish a few things first.

Where did you get that other rollercoaster?
The one I built where the parking lot was is called "The Comet" by Coaster Dynamix. The other one came ready to use from Trainworld (available on their website) called "MR CHRISTMAS #79751 Grand Roller Coaster"
There.were.more.hills.in.the.real.Cyclone.rollercoaster.than.the.model.shown.here...I.saw.the.rollercoaster.video.but.this.model.layout.is.nice.though
The R in Brooklyn is silent.
You got yours working pretty well! Are those custom trains?
No, actually they are 2 cars which I painted and put "N" scale sitting people with their legs cut off from their knee down. GODZILLA! GODZILLA!
Do you let people go in there
It's not something that is open to the public. It's in the basement of my home.
very nice layout I am just starting to add somethings to my layout I added Dodgem Cars Carousel I am adding the Rocket Ships I have also added a dance hall park office fun house my layout honors the memory of Euclid Beach Park in Cleveland Ohio I have a frozen whip stand and two food stands I made the office dance hall and fun house out of legos I have a battery operated fire works I will put a video up on youtube once its done
Mike, I just subscribed to your channel. I can't wait to see your video. Sounds like a lot of great things coming
I just added a video of what my layout looks like more videos coming soon!
Nice video. Keep up the good work.
