Is this the same Lord Coe that insisted the London Stadium be built solely for athletics and not football which meant that it cost the taxpayer millions to convert it to save it from being a white elephant, and has left it as a stadium that will need a complete overhaul in the next 10 years? I wish people would stop going on about the government building the stadium it’s really annoying. The government will not be paying for the stadium. The Old Trafford stadium redevelopment is a small part of a regeneration project called the ‘Trafford Wharfside Regeneration Project’ that has been in the works for years. It involves hundreds of acres of land, it’s the infrastructure needed that will need government funding. Buy the way Spurs did receive a government grant towards the stadium….that sort of thing is not unusual for projects such as this.
