@@seafooddiablo5686that is one part of it. Kids and young reckless adults on entry level jobs used to be able to afford cool cars they wanted. Now, we simply can't. This^ 100%. We desperately need a trend in the car market that gets rid of unnecessary tech and allows for cheaper cars. Hell thats how we got the Neon SRT4, Cobalt SS, Fist/Focus ST and plenty of other fun cars. Why the hell would the Mustang consumer need 3 ipads stuck to the dash that can emulate the SVT Cobra or whatever it is? They’re tacking on features that nobody asked for. There are no more barebones manual cars anymore, hence why we see C5s and C6s jumping in price
Price isn’t the biggest problem it’s the quality your getting for the price that’s the issue the market is changing a lot car companies are moving in a direction to where practicality is more profitable than performance and quality you’ll buy a brand new car now that won’t even last you 50-80k without serious issues (I’m just generalizing ik there’s a bunch of factors that come into play) when you’re financing a car which is the second largest purchase most people make there’s not much justifying the cost for everything and they nickle n dime you for warranties as well
It is the price. 65k to 70k for a nismo z or an s650 when you can get a higher end truck for the same price which would someone go with. Practicality or speed. But in my personal opinion, there's very little good options for a brand-new sports car rn.
This is actually very true in my opinion. The Mitsubishi 3000GT & Eclipse never sold that well some people don't realize. Cars like the 5th and 6th Gen Toyota Celica did not sell that well either. I used to own a really clean 6th Gen Toyota Celica 5 years ago, it was a 1997 Red GT Liftback. I loved that car, but finding one on Craigslist or even one in good condition, you don't ever see many of them, same with the Mitsubishi Eclipse. Unfortunately, the transmission on that car blew, and I ended up selling the car. I used to own a 1994 LS Acura Legend coupe, I love those cars also, but you never see that many of them for sell. Mainly the ugly 4 doors but for a 2 door coupe that was pushing 230Hp that was front wheel drive it was stupid fast. That type 2 motor in those old Acura Legend coupes are no Slouch 😅
@@hydrohyperdrive8443 You tell people the MK4 supra didn't sell very well and the MKV sold better, and their head explodes. All these cars were expensive, and people still want commuter cars and at the end of the day that's what makes money and sells like crazy.

@@hydrohyperdrive8443 I DEFINITELY feel you on that one. The sports cars back in the day were “cheap” because it lacked modern features we have today which some are mandatory. Best car right now to grab overall if you don’t mind rwd is the GR86.
The reason the Mustang isn't selling is because its 45k-60k for a GT and you can't tune it right now. Why would you spend that on a Mustang GT when you could get an S550 for less than half and modify it and the cars have basically identical performance. You can get a used M car for the same price as an S650 and you can modify them.
8:15 when you star talking abt locked ecu's. I think the main reason on why manufacturers don't make it a bit easier to mess with the computers is emissions. Emissions affect sales WAY more than "tunning capabilities", and resonating with the motorsport enthusiasts. Imagine if BMW released a B78, fuck it an imaginary new engine, and they said, hey this engine will have a completely customizable ecu, fully unlocked, just throw whatever fuel, air, spark adv, whatever parameters you want, adjust yourself and be happy. That whole engine generation will be scrapped immediately, they'll not even be able to sell in some countries especially USA, EU, China and other countries with remarkably strict with emission standards. And thats a imagine scenario for imported brands, we can only imagine how wrong and embarrassing it would be for ford to not comply with the emission standards and be prohibited to sell their vehicles in their own country. And remember, the new EPA rule for emissions that gets WAY more strict will start for 2027 model/year cars, so we have maybe 2 more years of fun before every new gas car became equipped standard with a lown mower engine. The only saving grace for car enthusiasts are renewable/synthetic fuels, and we're at least a decade away form having something like that available to the general public (meaning prepared for mass production/consumption)
One good reason is cars being "faster" and having a lot of handicaps. The fun isn't the results, it's the journey. Hence why foxbody guys have so much fun and s550 guys don't. I waited to get my S650 until a few months ago hoping we are closer to tuning. I already did a bunch of mods on the way to boost. I won't be thrilled if I'm stuck with getting a Whipple on pump gas next and that's it. The thing that eats at me the most is the speed limiter and no E85.

Bro considers a honda civic....a 4 door hatchback more of a sports car, than a 330i sedan? So why cant sedans be sports cars if they are faster and have better handling ? If it is a difference in weight the 330i is only heavier by 300lbs and that is because it does have a bigger engine and beefier suspension....
I have always loved the Z and really like how the 400 calls back to the earlier models. But what they are asking for it isn’t worth. For the base model until very recently dealers were asking over 50 grand for them.

the camaro is dead
the challenger/charger is dead
the ecu is getting harder and harder to tune as laws crack down harder and harder on aftermarket mods/bolt-ons.
the new wrx is worse than its predecessor in every way possible
the only thing that changed about the GTR is its price
the c63's don't have v8's or God even v6's
the focus and fiesta is dead
cheap 911's and caymans don't sell cause they are overpriced, and the ones that can afford them just buy the gt3's/gt4's and the turbos

Come to my stupid town, everyone thinks a truck is better than a sports car 😅
SUV's everywhere now
Just get a supercharger on 91 it’ll be slow anyway 😉
Do u think theoretically if they made a car with this exact engine with all wheel drive that’s a coupe do u think these will sell like hot cakes??😂 obviously depending on price if it’s on the more affordable side or semi affordable side
I don’t know what ur talking about but where can u buy a C8 corvette for around 50 grand😂😂 I looked everywhere and I’m in New York there is nothing
My 3v was 11k thats how mustangs should be priced the s650 should not be 55k plus
That’s not happening. No profit with it being that cheap in this economy.
11k used lmao
Drew... have a seat brother... relax... your out of breath
It is the price 100% would i own a new z? I'd love to and would buy it right now, why don't i? Because it's too expensive to be worth it at all
Also Drew economy is pretty horrible lol rates are trash...
Inflation / crappy economy
Edit : i think the new z is bad ass .
I have always loved the Z and really like how the 400 calls back to the earlier models. But what they are asking for it isn’t worth. For the base model until very recently dealers were asking over 50 grand for them.
@bassplayer2011ify i understand, but to put it in perspective a 300zx t t new was 80k in today's money.
I bought a truck cause they ARE cooler then sports cars
You are the first person I've seen/heard that has made this statement. But thats what opinions are for!
Lmao prices. Why is it a corvette 110 msrp plus “market adjustment”. Or a 50k for a base mustang gt.
