I Love Resonator guitars. When I record or play live I combine plugged in and mic'd together. Depending on venue or sound about 60% acoustic mic'd to 40% amp plugged in. You get the best of both worlds with a big fat tone....and the price on this guitar is right for a gigging rig.
🔵 thanks for the review - i've always loved resonators and after several weeks of reviews i've decided to buy myself the RK RM-991 bell brass tricone for it's full metallic warmth ; the other option i may eventually get is the RK RR-50-VS pro spider cone ; to me i liked the tones of the spider cone over the biscuit cone in the RK mahogany resonators ❕👍 🐊 🐸🍀
Beautiful looking and sounding resonator you've got there.👍😎 Always appreciate the feel of these swamp machines. Played resonators in the past and your great vid has put the idea of re-filling that slot back into the color palette. 👍😎 👍😎❤🖖 Love brother
Great review, I love my resonators I just ordered this one it will be my 5th one I own, I have one other recording king it’s a tri cone square neck and probably my favorite / most played resonator, I’m really excited to get this one in my hand …also my opinion is you retain so much more of its personality on using a mic for amplification, but it is a good idea to use both that and the pickup for playing live so you can still shine with all the other instruments
I bought the dirty 30's 7e earlier this summer and it came out of the box with cheese grater frets and a couple of high frets. will be hesitant to buy a recording king again
Most Asian made guitars, banjos, etc that has frets will get fret sprout when the wood dry out. These guitars are made in countries with high moisture humidity in the air. It's a shame to get something new that needs fret work and other setup problems from the get go.
@@mrtambourineman6107 it arrived and set up was very nice, it looked amazing & most importantly it's sound resonates exactly as expected, I love mine💯👍😎
I cannot for the life of me decide between this or the gretsch alligator🤷🏻♂️
I totally agree with acoustic pickups sounding a bit dog shit !
Great review Jack-thank you. Any chance of comparison between Rattlesnake and Dirty 30s.. regards andy

what body size is it compared to the dirty thirty resonator ?

You should! Get one. You deserve it.
Che tipologia e misura di corde monta originariamente questo modello? Grazie!
You keep saying "reasonable price, but so far, you haven't mentioned a price. Grow a pair.
It’s $500 if you wanna know man
Never played a resonator. I'll eventually get around to getting one. A few other guitars I want to get first.
They're really fun to have around. Totally unique sound.
A very informative review, Jack. Nice playing too!
Jack you said "reasonable price" several times ... what is that in actual dollars and cents? Thank you
Was thinking it's got that ping that a banjo has. Looks great, sounds great.
Hey Jack I have to comment, I keep coming back and watching this video, very nice guitar and I really enjoy your videos and playing.
Thank you! Appreciate the kind words and the support!
Hi can you hold it up a minute please dude...
Nice when I’m 64. Sounds great
Thanks pal!

Looks very nice. The slide sounds amazing on this guitar.
It really has a nice tone, I’m very impressed with it
I have the same great guitar !!! Which strings do you play ???

I don't care for the sound of it plugged in, mic is much better

I got an RK dirty 30s parlour guitar, and I love it! Especially for dirty blues and slide
Recording King is one of the best values out there. I've played a few that made think my "nicer" guitars are ripping me off hah
They are definitely a lot of guitar for the money!
I feel the same about my Blueridge
Sounds very good.
Jack, you ever played the RK Swamp Dog? I have one and LOVE it!
I haven't! I've generally been super impressed with everything RK that I've played though.
@@JackFossett You should check it out.
Thanks Jack great review!
Buying it! My misses thanks you bro!
Is the neck C shaped or V shaped?
Dibs !
Excellent playing Jack!
I am inspired!
Would you put 16s on this bad boy?
Hmm... yes? If I tuned it down to like open C or something.
Cool Review. Nice slide sounds - cool tone out of that resonator. 😎
Glad you liked it!
Nice review. The downside of the resonator is that people expect the player to be some kind of string-wizard.
Just placed my order for this Rattlesnake but without the built in pick up. Thanks for your review!!!
How you finding it? I'm considering getting one at the moment

@@rhumpher9a nice one thanks
The only reason to own a resonator guitar is to play slide. This guitar sounded terrible when he was strumming it. It sound great with the slide.
Mark Knopfler disagrees
@@JackFossett When did Mark Knopfler tell you that?
He regularly plays resonator guitars without slide. Since the beginning of Dire Straits.
