OEM tires that come on the truck are not the same as if you bought these tires off the shelf. They change all sorts of parameters to make for a nice test drive and that’s it. The tread depth is usually changed as well as the compound.
Thanks for the heads up . I am going on 4 years with Duratracs on an 18 Tundra. They have worn really well but have had minor vibrations and was thinking of going back to Michelin LTX. Your input is much appreciated
They have a new duratracs called the RT plus added 3 ply to the sidewall & snow rated. I ordered a set for my F350 off road. If you ordered them make sure they are the RT. Thanks
Lol. We ran Michelin defender ltx ms on my bosses duramax and tundra. Both used heavily daily. Use the duramax too haul daily and use the tundra hauling and off roading almost daily. Unless they changed or these are a little different I have nothing but positive too say about those tires. Other people will say the same who ran the trucks including him. Multiple times they where so bald they had wires showing wasn't even really safe too drive and never once got a flat. Believe me or not that's the truth and I have no horse in the race. Like I said unless their making them cheaper or their a little different maybe but the ones we used where awesome!!
The Michelin XLT tires are way cheaper. My brother bought a set for 750$ if you know the right place / people. The KO2 would cost double the price. The Michelin XLT are way better for gas mileage and the road. I have rode offroad probably 500 km with the Michelin tires without any issues. I don't know maybe I don't drive too fast or my trails are nicer. I did ride threw some sketchy parts last year.
I just got a set of Apollo Apterra AT2 tires about two weeks ago and can't be happier. They're about 42% cheaper than the Michelin LTX Trail. Not expensive but very grippy, puncture- resistant (3-ply), quiet, and Apollo is known for high mileage (UTQG 650 A A). I'm glad I got Apollo but we'll see. I don't live in the USA so I dunno if you have Apollo out there. Not as famous as the bigger guys but still fairly big and very competitively priced.
My stock tires had cracks and slits in them everywhere too, not to mention they wore horribly. Were completed shot by 35k km's. Disappointing for sure but that's just another reason to swap them out for some 35's 😎
😂 come on, man, you and I both knew they were junk in the beginning when you first buy your truck. You were just happy for it, wanting it to do well, for the price of it, it should have come with better tires for sure, I knew you were going to make a video of a flat tire 😂 but can't wait to see what you replace them with.
I’ve purchased the Michelin Agilis cross climate for my Tundra and so far am very happy with them. They have the 3 peak mountain snow flake and are 10 ply I believe. They are more of a highway tire than off road but were rated quite good for off road.
I have gone in the woods on a sketchy trail for firewood plus dirt roads while fishing and hunting. I am at 9,200 km so far no issues at all. I don't know maybe your trails are much worst? The trail on the family farm of my grandparents is rough with some exposed big rocks. Definitely these tires aren't the most offroad. The sidewalls aren't protected but they are decent offroad for me and great for the road.
Couldn’t agree more with ya man. I replaced those exact same tires on my trd off road with ko2’s… thinking I might try the Goodyear duratracs rt next tho.
I have never regretted switching to E load rating, even on my Grand Cherokee. K02s. K03s are coming soon and I'll switch to them next. I have never had a puncture in them in 200,000 miles of on and off road use, and they are the only tires I have ever had shrug off a framing nail. I though for sure it had gone straight through, but instead it was just bent and ran under the surface.
Now my 2022 f350 lariat came stock with Michelin LTX, I’ve had zero issues and they go through what you do, but tread does look different. I get about 40-50k
My ltx trails didn’t make it last day 1. What a crappy tire. 295/70r18 wildpeaks. Working in forestry and travelling back roads, load range e saves you a lot of headaches.
Get you a nice set on both maybe some c or d rated Toyo at3 or atw3 . I’m running D rated on my tundra ran E rated for a bit just a little overkill for a 1/2 ton
@@workplaytv You can get a 17-19 model with 50k miles for 55k, and it’s spotless hardly seen any rain here in the southern states of USA, just import it, to CA. In fact when I sell my trucks most of the buyers come from the north for a clean new used truck.
Are these actual Michelin LTX or made for Toyota? They’ll often make the fire with a softer compound rubber for factory tires than what you’d buy if you bought them from a tire shop.
Just another short coming on that new Tundra. I realize it’s a wear item and easily replaceable but you shouldn’t have to spend $1500 for new tires as soon as you purchase a brand new “off road” truck just so that you can drive on gravel lol.
I’d just sell and drive the f350, you beat them up, rough roads, etc you can’t keep a really nice truck. Save money also, one less truck, insurance, maintenance, etc. also one truck to do it all, the f350 is basically same size as the tundra…. Been there with many trucks and all my shit was always in the wrong truck when I needed it!
Too be fair you thought the terra tracs where good and I thought they where the worst tire I've ever had. Still like the channel just don't agree at all on tires lol
I agree Tyson, Michelin used to be good tires, and they certainly have never been cheap to buy. But after seeing how badly yours look in that short of mileage span, I will never buy any. Happy Easter to all, and hope Bauer enjoys his candy! lol
Yeah I wouldn't own Shitelin tires ever again they are crap. They had the reputation 30 years ago they were junk. Sidewalls soft as butter you can tear out a sidewall driving over a round rock. Tried them a couple times over the years they had to replace them because of issues with belts breaking. Ya they ride nice because of the soft sidewalls. I'm a Toyo guy now Nitto which is Toyo. I learned stick with 3peak snow flake tires it sure makes a difference in the winter time. I learned mud tires make a truck look beefy and tough they handle not so great the tire noise gets old real quick. Learned read the reviews do your research. Tires today are not cheap.
Maybe the new ones like everything else are junk but everyone knows their older stuff is too notch. Theirs a reason you see older Toyota's still on the road and cars half the age newer in a junk yard. The amount of abuse my bosses tundra has seen is absolutely ridiculous lol still going strong.
Wow ide be pissed paying that much for new trucks and cant drive them or use them like trucks should be them tires are for pavement princess only wow toyota
Unbelievable, I was planning to buy those trail tires, but after seeing this I totally changed my mind

Made in Texas and works hell-a-good there too 😂
Good video Brother. The LTX’s should only be on the 2wd trucks. The dang 450 and 350 wasn’t even that bad with the stock tires
I have 1600 miles on mine and I'm replacing them next week. They suck period. Thanks for the review.
Hello again my friend, thank you for another video, I wish you and your family an happy Easter 😄👍🌹
Hi Tyson,
Thanks for sharing about these awful tires.
I’ve purchased the Michelin Agilis cross climate for my Tundra and so far am very happy with them. They have the 3 peak mountain snow flake and are 10 ply I believe. They are more of a highway tire than off road but were rated quite good for off road.

Crazy! I’d go ahead and change them out. Have you tried Nitto’s?
We had a ford f-450 a lot of years ago. Had Michelin’s. Every trip to cape Breton every weekend stone went through the tread. Had to get rid of them.
I'm glad I saw this review. Ltx trail had nothing but good reviews. But after watching this, I would rather take the nitto dura grappler
What kind of Tires do you recommend?
If you went back to Toyota would they give you a different set of tires or at least prorate a set since you seem to have a lot of tread left ?
If they can’t repair the tire they will replace it
I have never regretted switching to E load rating, even on my Grand Cherokee. K02s. K03s are coming soon and I'll switch to them next. BFG is owned by Michelin.
Happy easter , hope all is well
Glad the dealer offered me a set of Falkens for my SR5 TRD...
I had Geolander on my 2023 Tundra
I had to replace them at 20k miles.
They were completely worn out...
I got Toyo RT trail tires and love them but I don’t live where it snows so I can’t given an opinion on snow ability
I've got KO2s on my Tacoma, they've been great with over 60000K. Would recommend.
Now my 2022 f350 lariat came stock with Michelin LTX, I’ve had zero issues and they go through what you do, but tread does look different. I get about 40-50k
Different weight rating
@@workplaytv yep 10 ply, I take your are 6 or 8 ply.

BFG All Terrain KO 2’s or 3’s ! All I run on my trucks! Maybe the new Toyota V6 Tundra puts out too much torque for those tires to handle ? 😂
It's crazy how this is still a thing after years of complaints from the community
I put Bridgstone Duellers revo 3 on mine, no complaints.
I have 80k miles on a set of 295/70r18 at3ws on my f150 that I (use to) tow a lot with, there’s still 5/32nds left
They are the best!
Are these actual Michelin LTX or made for Toyota? They’ll often make the fire with a softer compound rubber for factory tires than what you’d buy if you bought them from a tire shop.
Toyota
Yep. Pure garbage. Got stuck in wet grass in 4x4 with these. Got real tires the very next day.
Them factory tires are so soft snd flimsy probably just to please the ears for road noise
BFG ko2’s or new ko3’s. That’s what I have on my Tundra.
Just another short coming on that new Tundra. I realize it’s a wear item and easily replaceable but you shouldn’t have to spend $1500 for new tires as soon as you purchase a brand new “off road” truck just so that you can drive on gravel lol.
Don’t do repair kit you have tire & wheel warranty they will give you a new tire
I realize just wanted to make it usable
I guess you need to install an air compressor on each of the trucks so you can refill your tires throughout the day. 😏
Aren't the tire's only P rated? Not even LT tire's. My 2021 Tundra only came with garbage P rated tire's.
Same person that decided not to have front tow hooks.... LOL

Hahaha all good
I ran Michelins ONCE. ☝🏽
Wow! $80k truck and they don't give you quality off road tires. SMH
It is dumb. SR5 and Limited aren’t $80k though…
Yeah that’s wack. At least the Defender LTX M/Ss maybe? Lol, not a fan of Michelin’s trail lineup LTX included
LTX Trial is the "low end" tire, gives a better ride... LTX Defenders are way better....
I agree those tires are trash and I don’t think they even ride good.
Stock tires are always shit doesn’t matter what truck you buy
I agree Tyson, Michelin used to be good tires, and they certainly have never been cheap to buy. But after seeing how badly yours look in that short of mileage span, I will never buy any. Happy Easter to all, and hope Bauer enjoys his candy! lol
Dont understand why toyota ships these "offroad trucks" with street tires.
Damn.

Go order a set of ko3s and just be done.
These are life style trucks not real trucks, plastic bumpers all over.
That's sad lol
Pretty sad, but then again, Toyota 😂

Most factory tires are junk
Sure are but these take the cake
I knew you would get sick of those baby trucks any day now, lol. They are cute when you first get them, grow to hate them real quick though.
No hate for the truck just the tires
