Neat! I like to use big rustproof needle nose pliers on the wire on top of the foam wheel to keep them looking nice, neat, & professional. I start with 4 wires & slowly go to alot of wires. I roll the excess in weighted bobbins so I don't poke anyone in the eye with the wires.

So glad I found this tutorial of yours on these particular troubles with wire braiding kumuhimo style
I have been using wire in much my art work since begining with chain mail tinkering now with kumuhimo art forms still using electrical wire scraps I find usaly any place from 19 to 12 AWG and it's so true about all that work hardening and softer wirei will strip my wife and throw it in to my pellet stove till it's red hot take it out Kool it then it's as soft as it will ever be now as far as technic goes I have learned a few things as far as keeping it tight not really knowing proper technique for this I am grateful I have followed your channel for some time now even as I was in search of inspirations in my quests for new and fresh ideas some stuff I may make up my self or have to spend many hours trying to study something else in a foreign language so glad I am not needing to have to do all that now
Slot of technics are truely harder to find but in the trade of it all is it's still art work and there will be no right or wrong were it's said busty is in the eyes of the beholder
Kind of how I started using wire scrap the glow of a red metal really shines nicely much the same as gold
Thank you for sharing this tutorial with us

You’ve inspired me enough to buy a macrame board, a kumihimo board along with lots and lots of threads and wax cord! I’ve spent a fortune on eBay and Etsy today!

A pair of vice grips for holding ends of wire flat works great. A patch of leather protects from any scraps or dents

hi! i love your tutorials. can you let me know what brand wire you use? (if multiple; which is easier to work with? best coating?) i always just see it on the spool in most videos & i thought it would be listed in the description. i’ve had some wire that was terrible & yours always seem like quality wire. thanks !!

when working with wire kumihimo i weave it some what loose then i pull through a plate i made with slots of different sizes and it compresses it as if I had used the finger pressure. Similar to pulling viking weaves though round holes

I noticed your book has been sold out for a while. Will you be printing more?

  • @curlycooking

So, couldn't you use the "bending the ends of the wires to keep them from slipping out of the tape" on projects that require weaving the ends (as opposed to cutting them off) by simply leaving extra wire to bend and then cut off at the end?

I'm curious about that too! If I had to guess - between 22 and 28 . I'm gonna give it a shot .... again - using whatever falls off the shelf and lands on the table first. only 20g to 30g on that shelf ... lol - keeps life interesting.
Edit update: 22g and up (smaller) - total irritant for me and my terrible eye sight. Take 2 - gonna try what falls of the teenage shelf ... we'll see.

Im sorry, but it took her like 22 min to explain 1 stich of a braid. I mean I was falling asleep listening to her talk about her fingers. If someones doesnt know which finger is which, they probably should not be making jewelry.
