Hello there. First off, thanks a lot for making this video, I'm sure some people appreciated it and some still do ( like myself ). I'm personally looking to buy something as cheap as possible, second hand ( but with not too many km on board ) and I "stumbled" across this Kugoo Kirin S4 with just only ~ 250km on board, in almost perfect condition, for ~280 Euros. Managed to negociate with the seller and I can buy it tomorrow for ~240 Euros. Truth be told, I had absolutely no clue it's sold for just 300 Euros new in China, where I'm from ( Romania ) some stores sold it for about 500 Euros, so obviously right off the bat I thought it's a great deal for half the prize of it in the stores. The only reason I came across it though was the fact that the first and main criteria was top speed : from 35km/h and above. This was the cheapest I could find and I really thought the guys at Kugoo are serious, their brand is known for making good quality scooters but all of a sudden I hear about this straight up lie about the speed and I simply don't get it ! Why ? I don't even mind the other issues this model has, I would've been fine with them all things considered, but it this is at the same level at all other 25km/h models, I would be better off just going for something else entirely. I wanted to ask : in your experience, what are the cheapest but at the same time good ( overall ) models should I be looking for, with a top speed that is for real at 35-40km/h ? Sorry for the huge comment...
Hi mate, I do not know why they do it 🤷🏻♂️ I can understand how you feel. Off topic, but just yesterday I spent an evening in Bucharest :) you guys drive your scooters like maniacs! 😂 The “real 35-40” km/h scooter most likely needs a battery that runs at “48v” (13s). There are some exceptions, but generally more speed will need more voltage. So you can dismiss all the 36v scooters almost immediately. The last one of similar speeds that I have tried was Kukirin g2 max. It was also on another level regarding the quality of the scooter and had great suspension as well. Only 1WD though 🙄
Thanks for the very honest vid. On Banggood it's 430€ ;) I'm hoping that you have a faulty battery but I don't think so. We will Semifinale mine has the same false claims and I'm afraid so ;) Maybe this gets me hooked on scooters and I will get a more decent one later. Do you know a nice off-road version that you would suggest?
There is a discount code for Geekbuying in the description mate ;) For city commuting it is not a bad option. It can reach the 35km… downhill 😂 depends on the size of a hill 😂 for offroad consider cyberbot mini. You need two motors and at least 500w each, battery not less than “48v” to have enough traction 🙄 at least in my opinion :)
@@adamtt2009 well, there is no "manual" for that. You find a controller that fits your power/voltage requirements, buy it, then figure out which wires go where and connect them. You need basic electronics and soldering knowledge to do such a swap
Unfortunately I bought this one. I can make only 14 km range with one charge. I'm 115 kg. Speed for me is not bad. I get max of 30 km/h sometimes. Normally I go at 27 km/h. I bought it as my first scooter and because the light weight. Now I know I need a 20Ah battery to reach at least 30 km distance per charge. Do you know a good 20Ah scooter? I need a long range scooter, that's what matters to me. I found the scooter IENYRID M4 PRO S+ MAX with 20Ah battery and a somehow good price of 600 Euros. Do you know this scooter? Would you reccommend?
Hi, I have not tried it, so can't really comment. I was thinking last week that weight is such a huge factor for these scooters with little tiny motors. Completely understand your feeling. Normally larger battery packs go into larger scoots as they take up more space.. Just did a review on KuKirin G2 max, very nice scooter, 20ah, but more like 900+ eur. Have you considered just adding an external battery pack? That would be the cheapest way to solve your range problem without buying a new scooter
@@VRMinde right. Only problem is that I live on the 3rd floor and the elevator is quite small. I barely can put the scooter inside therefore the only ebike I could fit in it would be a foldable one with 20 inch tires. Leaving the scooter or ebike outside is not an option. It would be stolen. That's why the scooter is more practical in my case, only because the size of the elevator.
Very true, kugoo are misleading about the performance of this scooter. I'm 78kg weight and it does not climb slight hills. Going down hill I got 30km in speed but it is very disappointing unlike the kugoo G max that performed in every way. I feel as if I've wasted 360 euros and been mislead. Is there anyway of increasing the speed. My scooter is brand new from a kugoo dealership.
You might try replacing the controller, but I am not sure what is the "weak link" as I never tried to figure that out. I would start with replacing the controller though
Just got one today. It felt that something is wrong/broken with this scooter because of acceleration. I sometimes ride with my GF totalling our weight around 110kgs. In that case it takes really long to get up to speed - like majority of time you ride 8-10km/h, but then it holds speed around 20km/h. Is there any way to fix acceleration? Besides that security lock is just to thick to lock and doesn't turn into position. Luckily the main arm of scooter is stiff in mine and has no 5cm play.
I think suspension is needed when the scooter gets more than 40-50km/h. On lower speeds it is much more efficient to keep the weight (and price) low, inflatable tires do the job. Thanks for the comment mate!
Not right about 36v systems can only go around ~30km/h. Xiomi Pro with 350W after party motor and stock battery goes 42km/h meassured by GPS many times.
It is magic then :) I have about 14 scooters with all sorts of setups. Including m365 with the Grin Technologies “Phase runner” that is fully customizable controller with “field weakening” - you can’t squeeze out more than that :) and 500w motor. On a straight road it does not go more than ~32km/h with a stock battery pack. Even with 12s reaching 40km/h is a big challenge. Maybe you weight like 60kg? :)
@@VRMinde Many M365 Pro owners have confirmed 42 km/h out of Pro with 350W motor and 10inch tires. Reviews in the shops where the 350W motor is available report same Pro can reach 40-42 and classic 35-38
@@VRMindeAs far as I know its matter of how motor winding is made. The motor has less torque but higher top speed. When I talk speed I never trust what scooter displays. They all show more but in this case I measaures by GPS like 10 times and records are always 41.5 - 43 km/h. I'm 82 kg. btw. Aand keep up the great reviews, pleasure to watch !
As always, a very detailed, unbiased and thorough review. Thank you for your work.
Thank you mate! It is a pleasure :)

Do you know how to hack the speed on the scooter, like other e scooters?
I am not 100% sure, but I think you need to replace the controller if you need more speed. Like 99% :)

When it’s 36v can u put a booster pack of say 12 V added to it
