Been living in Anchorage for many years now, and have enjoyed this series so far! Its really fun to see what others think about my home state. Running Commentary of my thoughts while watching the video: - Its funny to hear the "Seward Highway" called "Route 1". Only the GPS calls it highway one around here lol! - Girdwood is our little sleepy skiing town. Jack Sprat is also a great restaurant in Girdwood. - I always recommend the tram ride in Girdwood for tourists. Beautiful views as long as the cloud cover is high enough. - Whittier is always fun because of the novelty of everyone living in the one building. Begich is pronounced "beg-itch". - The 1964 Earthquake did significant damage to many costal towns including Whittier, Seward, Homer, and Anchorage. Many of the buildings near the AirBnB you stayed at in Anchorage didnt originally have basements, but they do now because some buildings along 4th avenue downtown sunk into the ground during the earthquake.
Out of curiousity are Alaskan salaries higher than normal? Some of the prices Nicky & Claire have shown are so high compared to other places I've visited in USA (even NY/LA).
@@markcummings3146 I'm honestly not sure. I've spent all my working life in Anchorage working for a small family business, so its hard for me to compare.
I've been watching this series on the tv which i dont normally do but I believe the production value here warrants it! Then of course i forget to come back and comment 🫣 Claires face when she arrives in Anchorage says it all 🫶 Pure happiness, appreciate the quality of these videos Nicky!
Fantastic vlog and great filming as always. At least I have seen Alaska through your vlogs, so don’t need to lay out thousands! Looking forward to meeting you in Leeds. 👍
Love this vlog those bears & bison worth the money to go see the animals. Wow all that land & mountains just so beautiful. I remember seeing a vlog on the Whittier building I think by Peter Santengelo so interesting. I can why the prices are so high to buy food & items there its so far lol Looking forward to the next vlog.
Wow! What a great video. The scenery and drone footage keeps getting better and better. Loved the animal preserve how close up you can get. Especially when its like your walking the bear. great views from the tram up the mountains. very cool. loved the one way tunnel to Whittier. That must have been something to see. can't wait for that train ride.
Hi N&C - Stunning scenery, amazing drone footage! That roll was insane - bigger than any Cinabon I've ever seen!🍩 The views from the tram was breathtaking. The wildlife animals at the sanctuary were amazing - it's hard to believe how massive they are!🐃🦌 I would be worried that a vehicle might breakdown in the tunnel - quite a feat of engineering. 🌉 Thanks for another incredible adventure guys - hugs to you both!!! Cheers!!!😎❤🍻
Before the Whittier Tunnel was modified to allow car traffic, if you wanted to get your car to Whittier you would drive it onto a flatbed of the train in Portage, off the Seward Highway, and then drive off in Whittier (or vice versa). You could also get on a regular train car as a foot passenger.
Hello from Indianapolis Nicky and Claire. I always enjoy your vlogs. So well done and you take us to some amazing places. And always a good history lesson as well. Looking forward to the train ride.
Hi you two, I want to take a vacation with you!! Such fun and I love your commentary! Looking forward to the next vlog. Signing off from Cave Creek, Arizona where it's 110 degrees.
Been fairly hot lately where I am, high 90s-low 100s. Imagining the Alaskan chill. So where do the snacks cost more, Crow Creek or a Vegas hotel gift shop? Loved seeing the animals. Definitely this city boy’s preferred way to walk with bears. Whittier gave me The Last of Us vibes. I don’t know if I would have walked through that tunnel. Guess I don’t have that “adventfurmage” spirit. Looking forward to a first-class train ride. Thanks Nicky and Claire.
Really enjoying your videos Nicky. You're a very talented vlogger and editor. Looking forward to the next one. All the best from rainy Weymouth (Dorset)
@@nickyfurmage Ah cool! Nice part of the world Corfe and Purbeck. Have you been in recent years? The wife and I have just last week returned from a Cruise of the Fjords on Anthem of the Seas, which is how we found your channel a little while back. Must have watched your ship tour video half a dozen times before we went 😂Olden was absolutely incredible!
❤ watching your vlogs, so informative and entertaining, loving Alaska. My wife wants to know if Clare is wearing waterproof hiking shoes, as we are heading to Alaska also. Keep Vlogging guys, you’re just the best 😊
Born here. Still here. Like your video. Route 1 is known as the Seward Highway. Very dangerous road- You also keep saying “Nick” arm. Knick is K’nick so pronounced “K-nick”

Jack Sprat was on the list actually, if more time, we would have liked to try out! I pronounce things wrong all the time😆

We were close to the bigger bear for a moment and yes it's amazing to see how huge they are!
You did good staying on the right side of the road lol !! Beautiful scenery, looking forward to the next one!
Thanks lol, I've had plenty of practice driving over there now😁
Fresh clam chowder everyday for sure 🍲
Love it!
Good to see that town through the tunnel has ice machines 😂
Americans love Ice 😁
Loved the walking with bears!
Who even thought it was possible to be crackin flags in Alaska!😂
Them bears were cool to gang out with😁🐻
We did well with the cracking flag action in Alaska 😆

Thanks for the info, and for watching the video👍
Very awesome! I vaguely remember going to the animal sanctuary once but the only animals I remember were the reindeer.
It was cool to visit and definitely worth the cost.
Excellent episode!! Really really enjoyed this one!
Cheers Vicki, nice to have you along again. Plenty more to come from this trip👍
Absolutely incredible, looks amazing. Its now on my bucket list 😊
The next video was on mine 😉
