I was there. Amazing performance and we still got relegated. Loved the 70s though. Kenny Hibbit and John Richards quality players who should have had more recognition.
An injustice indeed! A further injustice was that Kenny Hibbitt, Dave Wagstaffe and Derek Parkin failed to win a single England cap between them. Incredible really. Even Frank Munro, with 9 Scottish caps, was somewhat short-changed I reckon.
Wolves were wrong side of the tracks & didn't play the England way. Wolves were up & at 'em, same Newcastle. Arsenal Spurs Man U stroked the ball around.
I was there as a tearful little kid - wondering why the hell we were playing in blue - and so badly after a goalless first half as I remember. The story was we were trying to get Brum relegated (why I don't know) - but that didn't work out too well. We were on MOTD - sat in the front row.
Liverpool bought first McDermott & later Allan Kennedy from Newc & they were good players but nothing that made them special. Liverpool did, time & again they'd buy good players & made them better & do the Liverpool way. Stars like Dalgish did stand out & buy but others they knew what the rest of us didn't see.

Love watching these old games. Thanks for posting.
Superb footage again, 1 England cap out on the wing??? What an injustice!
Kenny For England,he would have been better than we had then.
Went to this, as well as the 5-1 defeat at Newcastle.
You didn't go to either.

Points tell the story.
I was there
You weren't.
Another win for SUNDERLAND v mags .
It's all there win or lose, footy is first & I applaud them all back then.
Newcastle I've seen a few times doing miss-timed back passes.
Poor analysis.

Wrong.
Newcastle were pathetic there.
