I love Databricks Assistant and use it pretty much every day at work. A few days ago I knocked something out in 15min that would have taken me more than an hour if I had done it on my own.
Right. The business user has no interest in doing this and the developer needs something in it for him to work on. They should know how to strike a balance.
I think it can speed up development for data engineers and / or enable some business users to do basic data engineering work themself. The assistent is not failure proof, so you still need to fix some items yourself.

This makes people stupid and AI smarter. I don't think this is good. Copying code without trying to solve it by yourself is not what I want to do.

Most young developers don't want to understand. They are given a task, which they want to finish. This works really well for them
