    What if someone built a 3D printed Jordan 1, but instead of one single piece that’s pretty much unwearable, each part of the actual shoe is 3D printed and assembled

    • @adamon5577

      That's a great idea but what type of material that's suitable for it

    • @nedric24
      @nedric24 2 года назад +9

      Probably TPU for the lowers/mid soles, and Nylon for the uppers

      Stupid😒

    • @nedric24
      @nedric24 2 года назад +5

      @J Not necessarily. There’s a lot of ways to reinforce them. It’s not that the materials are weaker. The infill% and pattern is going to directly affect the way the sole behaves. If you did 100% infill of TPU for example it’s essentially a solid block of rubber.
      There’s also dual extrusion printers that can print multiple materials at the same time. So you you could do a nylon-CF shim inside of the TPU sole for reinforcement, and energy return. It will print the shim inside the sole as the sole is being printed around it.

    • @nedric24
      @nedric24 2 года назад +3

      @J I see what you’re getting at. It would definitely have to be done correctly. There’s a lot of engineering and design you’d have to put into it to get a good result. Just printing straight off model isn’t gonna get the job done. It could resemble a regular shoe in the end, but to get there isn’t a straight path.

      You should maybe try barefoot shoes they are wide. of course there is that you have medical issues with your foot so maybe they aren't best for that since they don't have any support. This is just a suggestion I don't know how bad your feet are and barefoot shoes aren't maybe for that.

    These are super cool, tons of possibilities. Since they already have a scan of your foot you can easily get new designs and colors made on demand if the brands were really open to it. I do wonder about the longevity of them though, how long would this, presumably, more fragile shoe last when compared to a traditional runner?

    • @dervon9526

    I would absolutely try them. It’s great you said breathable, however for those that live in areas where it can get to 116°F + breathability becomes a very big question. Also with high temperature areas how well will the resin print hold up,, will stay the same or become melt a little or soften. The scan of your foot provide an absolute perfect fit - but in that note - I noticed the included socks are thin like some dress socks- so would athletic socks from Nike, Puma, Under Armour, Reebok etc. be too tight to wear with them. I really like the design of them and as resin printing advances they will be able to make shoes with a mixed color palette...

      In the summer your feet would boil in it. They should have also add linen and insole, it would make them a proper shoes. Still impressive, dont get me wrong, i see huge potential if the people print them for themselves, this way its way too expensive, there are much better options for that amount of money.

    It looks like there is a seam between the very bottom of the sole and the rest of the shoe, is the material itself a different hardness? It was definitely printed in multiple parts but its hard to tell visually if the material has different hardness or if it was printed in multiple parts so that there is something embedded. Obviously parts of their process probably aren't all public but if you print with a bunch of TPU you may have some shore hardness scales or just be able to tell with your finger if the top and bottom are the same. I imagine it would have to either be harder on the bottom or have an embedded harder piece of material.

    • @DeusExNihilo
      @DeusExNihilo 2 года назад +2

    I do a lot of wade fishing in the summer in New River located in Virginia and West Virginia. I used to always wear in an old pair of sneakers to Wade in but putting them on the following morning especially during chilly springtime temps and walking in them to the river wasn’t very enjoyable so when Crocks first came out that quickly became my fishing shoe. Being able to take a towel and dry them with a few wipes was much better! I generally wear the model of crocks with the strap that can be tightened. The water is swift so you need something that stays securely snug to foot. A pair of these (designed with some holes in them of course), look like they would be ideal. A Super soft outsole that would give a ton of cushion for stepping and standing on hard rock all day. Just curious as to how they would hold up using them for that application. I think they would be awesome to fish in and also as a “camp shoe”!
