It would be great if you can explain the reason for some of the drills. As you sometimes do, but for all the drills. For example the 4 forehands moving in drill makes sense, but running around every ball to hit a forehand doesn't necessarily make sense to me. I understand running around a floating ball to play an aggressive forehand, but if you're not in perfect position to play it, surely playing a backhand would be better?
Depends on the player, depends on the backhand. Federer would not have had the same success if he didn’t look for that forehand as often as possible. His backhand was underrated. But his forehand was the best ever in my opinion. Thanks for the comment 👍
In running backwards how should I step so as not to trip on my way back.. I find if I face the high ball as it comes towards me I’m stepping backwards and end up tripping and falling backwards. Thanks for your help.
Anticipation is key. The earlier you anticipate the depth on the ball, the amount and type of spin, the sooner you can set up and get in position. The later you anticipate, the more hurried and rushed your footwork will be, making it more likely for you to be out of position and maybe even trip on your way back!
Good question. It helps to develop the explosive movement going forwards ie. an approach shot or when chasing down a drop shot. A lot of the focus in this drill is on the first initial push off the ground. A progression of this drill, which I did not include, is to not allow my player to see when I feed. Not only will this help that explosive push more, it also develops your reactions skills. Patrick (comment above), in extreme cases of backspin, this drill is also helpful. Really glad you found of use 👍
I do this V drill, but I put my cone on the center baseline to simulate a short ball and a deep ball. Why do you have your cone so far into the court? That doesn't seem right to be resetting in no mans land. 1:18
Hey, thanks for the comment. Just had a browse of some of your vids. Got some great clips in there 👍 On this particular drill, I am not sure why I put the cone there to be honest and you raise a good point! I tend to do a lot of drills on the baseline and the majority will always be there (when working on groundstrokes). And although I would never encourage my players to recover into no mans land, there are definitely situations where these types of shots are played in that area of the court. For example.. you play an attacking short ball but don’t get enough on it. Normally you’d come in and close out the point, but your weak approach gives your opponent a chance to be offensive. This can often push you back and force you into a position where you are on the back foot playing a ball whilst in no mans land. Not ideal. But important to practice all scenarios. Hope that makes sense! And keep posting content 👍
Wow. Great drills. You are so FIT!!! Those forehands near the alley-I notice you hit a lot of those with a closed stance. Is that by design? Or maybe the drill is designed to give you no time for the extra step?
C Gaffga thanks for the comment and good question. Most of the emphasis is on the wrist, especially when closer to the net. So more effort with the wrist and less on rotation of shoulders and hips. Closed stance more necessary.
Hey! My first camera is actually my iPhone X. Will upgrade to a 12pro next month. Camera quality is great I also use the canon M6 and a sony mark 4 for the other angles. I usually have 3 cameras set up, but my iPhone is always my primary cam. Do you film/play tennis?

There are many other people in your position. Many wouldn’t even admit to the fear of failure when hesitant to try something new. You have, and that’s the first step! I’d never force anyone in your position to go out and just try. That is always far easier said than done. I can only encourage you! What I will suggest is that you at least enquire at your local tennis club. Do a quick google search and see what you can find in your area and I will guide you from there. Ask what they have in terms of private/group coaching for complete beginners. As cliche as it sounds, you will never know unless you try. You might surprise yourself 👍

No pain? No gain :D
What is the purpose of feeding balls from behind? 3:39
i personally struggle when the ball has back spin and I have to generate my own pace so this is super helpful for me!!
