This is absolutely the kind of content I need. Thanks so much. I love your beautiful grays! I appreciate your taking the time to show the degree of wetness you need on your paper as well. Love your paintings. You’ve been a favorite of mine for a long time!
First time visitor to your channel. Great content, and I'm excited to try the overwash technique. However, I had to watch it several times to figure out the mixes because sometimes you call the 6 primaries "lighter and darker" instead of "cooler and warmer" and never use pigment names (eg lemon yellow) after the intro.
Hi CastleMc,,,,, thank you for your input,,, you are putting your finger on one of the negatives in doing live painting demonstrations, namely trying to paint and talk (and make some sense) at the same time! Go to my website, donandrewsstudio.com, then to the video section, scroll down to color harmony(not the title, martha gives the videos come on titles)there's a colorful church on the thumbnail, this video is free to watch and it give you a better idea of my color selections and why,,,more to come! Friend Don
I am going to paint this Neutral lesson right now! I'm going to look for more of your lessons too! Great teaching style...thanks so very much to both you and Martha Jax FL
Fabulous fabulous lesson Don. Just what I wanted to learn. You’re my new watercolour hero. Only found you recently. Thanks so much for sharing your wisdom xx
@@moirastevenson4567 Hi Moira,,,,yes, I'm born, raised in South Alabama so the accent comes with the territory! And yes,,,,I taught a workshop in your wonderful country 6 or 7 years ago and it was gray made for watercolor! Btw,,,I'm half Irish myself, most everyone on my mothers side is a redhead! Friend Don
Hi Don. Lived the exercise. To me was mind-blowing. So, if I understood correctly we can cool or warm our watercolor mixings by adding cooler or warmer paint!!! If so, my question is if that goes for every color mixing? Not only grey? right?????
Hi Cristina,,, thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed the video! Yes, you are 100 per cent correct, this color temperature concept is so unnecessarily confusing,,,, all blues are visually cool, there is no such thing as a warm blue that you see as warm paint,,,, Ultramarine blue is a good example,it is referred to as a warm blue, why? Because it has a touch of Magenta in it, a cool red has a touch of Thalo blue in it,,,a warm green has more yellow,a cool green has more blue,,,etc,,,,Hope this helps! Friend Don
Hi majrminer,,,,, Oh yes, we haven't announced yet but we are about a month out from launching a Patreon monthly watercolor class! You're on our email list so you'll get a notification! Hope you'll join us! Friend Don
