I’m not sure if they still do this (it was before COVID), but it is because it is supposed to be a temporary bed. All the roommates (A+B+C) have to agree to keep bed C for the second semester, or bed C gets assigned a new dorm! Also, bed C can leave regardless of whether the other roommates want them to leave. The other beds (A & B) can also choose to leave. Again, I’m not sure if this is still the case, but it was when I lived in the dorms!
Definitely buy a mattress topper! I went over some of the essentials in the video. Do you have more specific essentials questions? That would help me to answer them!
Lindsey Garner If you want to lift or lower your bed, you have to hammer out/in the pegs! Also to hammer in nails if you might need! In my dorm we used my hammer and screwdriver a lot!!!
@@BritgirlTX this is true! Our dorm had a wooden strip (you can see in the video where I have the metal grid hanging) so we were able to use nails. We were also able to use small picture hanging nails/tacks in the walls because command strips wouldn’t stick with the texture in the walls. Many other dorms here at shsu also allow small picture nails/tacks because command strips/tape will ruin the paint, but most of them include a small wooden strip like ours so you can hang bigger things that need bigger nails!
Hi! I recommend changing your meal plan to the one w the most bearkat bucks! i honestly only ate at the dining hall max 2 times a day for like 3 months straight. otherwise it was only once a day for just a few months out of the year. it was nice going to the lsc to get food or starbucks and not having to pay, or even to the PODS (mini convenience stores) to get a snack before/after class! if you want help w anything please message me on twitter at sumsumdavis or on insta at sum_sum_davis and i can give you more advice/help if you need it!!!
there’s no community kitchens at SHSU at all! :( If you live in the dorms (besides BKV which are apartment style w/ a stove and oven) you have to get a meal plan for the dining halls!
Yes! They have 1 set of bunk beds, so as long as you get one of those it will loft! If you get the one that’s separate it will not loft higher and you have to buy the loft cones
I’m not sure how it is due to covid-19, but when I stayed it is 3 people for the fall semester and it can possibly drop down to 2 people in the spring if the third person wants to leave.
@@BritgirlTX Personally, I didn’t like the suite style of Piney, but many of the learning communities are there which is why it’s so popular. White hall is the closest to an apartment in my opinion, and is really great for students who want more of a cozier dorm style without sacrificing space. But it’s also unfair to compare any of the dorms with BKV as BKV is the only on-campus student apartments that have a kitchen with a oven/stove and doesn’t require a meal plan. They are also extremely hard to get into considering the increasing amount of students on campus, and really need to be updated.
Thanks! We wanted to see White Hall.
Thank you so much
Thanks for making this video ,I’m thinking of going here!
Hi this was helpful, but why does the third person have to move out 2nd semester?

Is the mattress provided by sam comfortable or did you buy an additional one to place on top of it? Do you know what essentials we will need?

Very helpful! Thank you
Thank you!! Why will you need a tool kit?

@@atSummerDavis FYI ... some dorms do not allow nails in the walls ... check with RA first or you will get fined!

Hey I’m going there next year but I don’t get anything:( what meal plan do you recommend?

@@atSummerDavisWere you able to separate the bunk beds by yourself or did you have to call maintenance?
@@Princess-df4rs We did them ourselves with tools! A hammer is all you need, but it was tricky so if you can’t do it definitely call maintenance
Does every room have 3 people
i heard that it's two people now but idk cause on the pamphlet it has four.

This is way better than lonestar hall at SHSU its horrible lol my favorite one to stay in was bearkat village it's on point
Try the newest dorms ... big and roomy! Cost less than Bearcat Village
