I remember reading somewhere that the 650 engine was purposely built to accept a larger bore, but it’s hard to imagine that RE would give up an engine that is A2 compliant.
Well, the cylinder barrel on the engine in the spy shots appears to have seven cooling fins, while the present 650 has only six. This suggests a stroked version of the current motor.
I'd love a Enfield to do a 500 or 600 air cooled single with Velocette Thruxton looks. Got to have the Brooklands fishtail exhaust. That would be the best retro cafe racer on the market by a mile.
Hi Willie - it’s Big Rodders in Ireland. I don’t understand the constant desire for bigger and more powerful engines. In my view they come with serious disadvantages such as increased cost and especially extra weight at a time when, with an aging motorcycling population, the emphasis should be the production of lighter machines. Another issue is that more powerful engines generally have higher gearing and it’s likely that normal 40 to 60mph riding won’t be the sweet spot for these bikes, which want to tramp on at higher speeds. I’d be happy on my 105kg yellow Monkey with 20bhp instead of the standard 9.6 😂🤣!
5:19 Rosie is a cute kitty. I have not seen any solid evidence that there will be a Royal Enfield 750cc motorcycle. I have seen quite a few A.I. generated videos mentioning the news, so I can not put the information into the non-fiction status yet. The Royal Enfield website does not mention anything about a 750cc engine for the near future. I guess I am just terrible at searching for stuff. Who knows, a 750cc RE could be a decent motorcycle for the US market. Then again my Honda Shadow Aero has a 749cc, with 47hp from the factory, and I am good with it.
Hi Willie, love the cat (what a star!). My concerns are that Enfields are just going to get heavier and heavier with every increase in capacity - the 350’s are not exactly light are they?! An Himalayan 750 would be so unwieldy for off-roading surely they’d develop it for one of their road based bikes first? Though as you said, we’ll have to wait a couple of years to find out anyway. Cheers Willie 👍
So this is the usual play with RE...they understand what the star performers are and they bring out updates using other bikes to underscore capability and test them in the real world and then bring out the bike once they have enough info...hence the Classic 350 was released much after the Meteor came out because they had the engine tested in the real world and once they understood it worked they were safe to bring out the Classic which is their star performer in the 350 class. This leads me to believe that they will bring out this bike...with a completely new name (they wont cannibalize the Himalayan name with this one) test the 750 setup in the real world before they plonk it into the Interceptor and the GT!
Hi Willie, I thought that you and TAYM would like to know that Orwell motorcycles have taken on Royal Enfield as part of their portfolio so you can go and try out your favourites. Great channel by the way.
I dont have any inside info. I have met Adrian Sellers a few times but never discussed new engines. That said, i think RE is absolutely killing it right now. Theyve in my opinion completely stolen the modern classic sales from Triumph. That all said if I were RE 900cc is the biggest id go as 1200 clearly struggle to sell.
Damn willy follow you're bliss I had a cat die from a snake bite I hear him come off the sill since he died 3 years ago may I suggest:zen and the art of motorcycle maintenance they should offer the 750 and I believe 865 big bore out the door🎉 then f-ers party time hey up Will ❤
Either way to pronounce Himalayan is ok. I say Him-a-lay-an. I think Royal enfield should stick with 650 and smaller as that is their niche in the market. It would be like BMW making a moped.
RE make bikes primarily for the Indian market but they need to gear up for the rest of the world. I would love a Meteor but 20hp? no thanks, not here in the Balkans where the highways are 130 kmph and the super meteor weighs 2 tons. I still dont get why modern bikes are so heavy, my 1968 650 Bonnie was about 170kgs.
It wouldn't make sense. They would get my attention with a twin disc front brake. Torque is the only reason for more displacement. Economy and tank range are more important than a bump in peak in HP. The price would be more premium, sales would be split and pre owned 650 single disc would be less attractive. Too many reasons against.
POWER and more POWER, I’m really struggling with todays roads, (congested in the uk all year round only in the UK, July august here) that is bigger better faster bikes really relevant, from what I understand the 450 Guerilla has as much performance as you will ever need or am I being a misery guts cos it’s my Birthday soon and I’m getting old 😂😂😂😂 …. Pete🇫🇷
There are big bore kits out there now taking it to around 850cc. I'd rather see the engine downsized to 595 to get lower road tax and insurance without much, if any, loss of power. Surely nobody buys the Enfield because of it's high powered engine or stunning good looks. Mostly, it's a cheap utility bike for older people who don't want the power, or the expense of a Z900 RS. I'd say Him-a -lay-an, but that's because I am English. Just like the capital city of France is PA-RIS because it is too camp to say PARREE . So speak like a straight Englishman and don't try to sound like a native.
750cc is coming Willie.I read article in Bikewale an Indian bike news report.Bikewale said they'd heard things & Bikewale us pretty reliable. They said atleast 55hp 65Nm & are in testing at moment. RE been building 750 & 850 prototypes for awhile. The 750 needs to be put through it's paces by test team & since the Classic 650 just been released a 750cc won't be out till atleast the end of the year or early next year.I do believe the Classic would of been time to release 750 but that's not the RE way they stick a motor in everything & anything to get the most out of it.Same with 750 it'll go in everything alongside the A2 650.I also noticed on that Himmy twin prototype that it had a extra cooling fin & that means it probably a longer stroke so a 750cc.I wouldn't be worried about it cause take atleast till end of this year to give RE to sell a bunch of Classic 650's first.RE still hasn't released a Constellation named bike & Constellation was a 700 & 750cc bike so we could see a new modern classic 750 to be first 750cc but that is just my thought. RE will no doubt make 650 & 750 at same time & 750 be slowly released across different models over the next few years.A 800 or 850 aircooled bike probaly won't pass tight emissions standards.
Yamaha does a RD inspired fairing kit for the XSR 700 Willie looks awesome but not cheap. That cour coded Ermax nose fairing I got for the Trident cost me $730nz delivered postage was $130nz from UK.
I reckon there'll be a 750 (or similar increase) at EICMA at the end of the year - probably the adv/tourer Himalayan (if that's what they call it). Then, going forward, the 650 range will slowly be updated to 750's or discontinued starting with the Interceptor....
I went into my local RE dealer yesterday and they've already got a dozen or so pre sales for the new Bear!!! The Guerrilla has got a bit of poke, but personally I'm torn between the Bear and a BSA 650 ? Love my C 350 & a bigger single would be great, but is the RE world as a whole better than BSA's🤔
I just checked on YT. Rumours of a new 750cc RE engine were around 8 years ago, more news 3 years ago and last year as well. I suppose they'll have to bring one out eventually! 😂 Might demolish the 650cc platform though, unless it replaces it altogether.
Saw a bloke at Matlock Bath last summer with an XSR700 which had a RD350 fairing kit fitted. It looked fantastic in blue and white. I can't remember the cost, but it was definitely several thousand pounds. Looked amazing though. Kelly says she loves Rosie, thanks for showing her to us 😊. Always a cat lover my wife. She used to work for CP a few years ago.
I don't know anything. But I'm not sure I see the logic in a small increase of power. Are those who are not happy with 47 horsepower going to be happy with a small increase? it seems like if they are trying to appeal to the big bike crowd, they should just go to a 900 and leave some significant space between their motors.
A new Scram 440 ...coming out this month ....443 cc more torque...more hp.....6 speed gear box tubeless wheels bigger front brake pistons stronger rear frame check it out on y t ....could be a winner
@ yes I agree. My opinion was based on the over 48 motorcycles I’ve owned and experienced. Those numbers you quote seem realistic. Another aspect is how they design the engine to breath. Higher reving will allow increased hp. But in my experience, torque is everything. I had a 2009 Suzuki bandit at 1255 cc. It was a powerful machine. However the power numbers were 99 hp and 80 ft lbs torque achieved at 2500 rpm and carried a straight line to 7500 rpm’s. All that torque over the rev range made this bike feel crazy powerful. I’m all for a 750 RE with 55 hp and 65 bt/mt.
They said a few years back they were going to aim for the mid range and smaller bikes. They have. I suppose therefore a 750 is possible. But I think the 350 j series must have been designed with ability to be increased to 500cc or similar. Would sell in India more than a 750 I think which is their market. Just my view.
I remember reading somewhere that the 650 engine was purposely built to accept a larger bore, but it’s hard to imagine that RE would give up an engine that is A2 compliant.

Love Rosie mate. They probably have already fiddled with the internals of the 650 and turned it into a 750, so it'll be the same engine just worked.
Thanks mate, yes she's a proper funny little cat!
750 and larger kits available in Oz. Check out Revelry Racing, also S&S.

Yes, using water cooling with new crankcase, cylinder block, and the pistons and valve setup from the Guerilla to keep down design costs.

A new production 750 air cooled 270 degree crank? Maybe 50 to 53 bhp. Triumphs at 900 water cooled at 64 bhp.
