    Thank you for showing this process. I hate seeing perfectly good anything destroyed when people redo their houses/yards. There is someone out there who will consider it an upgrade to get that countertop. I’m having a hard time finding a contractor to redo my kitchen because I want to save the solid wood cabinets that are still in good shape they just need to be refinished. I have a feeling we are just going to have to take them down and rearrange them ourselves. It’s not the first time we’ve redone a kitchen ourselves but we are getting older so it will be harder.

    splash, got a Dremel multitool which will come in handy on many projects and bought a set of super strong magnets to try to find screws and am now just getting together the bravery to start cutting those screws. No space on either side, so we'll see how I do. Thanks again.

    Hi just to say BIG THANKS I used all the tips and principles you mentioned minus the stud finder no need they used some type of glue but the multi tool work really well . Work like a charm. Took 5 granite tops from 2.2 meters to corners of 1.5 meters l and 3 Splash backs, 2 window seals 1.8 meter ie 10 pieces in total. The wedges and the tips were great took out not a single issue. By the way none of us had a clue Or done before THANKS AGAIN. I saved allot removing it me and my guys.

    We had an installer do ours & they did a fantastic job.
    Except for one piece of the backsplash they forgot to stick to the wall. When they sent a guy to complete the job he was just gonna stick the last piece on the wall and call it a day, even though it wasn't flush at the corner.
    If they don't return and do it properly I might brush the dust off my own toolbox

    No screws along the wall side of the granite? I'm told that there isn't usually a plywood sheet under 3mm granite. Does that make it harder to remove? Last, my quartz vanity topper has two undermount sinks. Do those have to be separated from the quartz and removed first? Or can I just unhook the water lines and drain pipe and pull it all off together?

    Quick question. We have granite countertop peninsula that has two levels, so it goes up into a higher bar level counter to eat at. We asked a local granite supplier if they could remove the bi-level and make it flat and fuse the two pieces of granite together instead of us having to buy all new countertops. They told us that it wouldn’t be possible without breaking the granite because the upper granite piece is sitting on drywall, not cabinet. We are not sure if they are just trying to make a sale!

    Hi , thank u for sharing this video. I wonder if I can do that only on the right side of my cooktop countertop, the guy who fixed the cabinets , did a bad job and now, I can’t push the oven all the way to the back of cabinet but only on the right side, and the countertop company wasn’t responsible for cabinets installation ... So I am in trouble. Do you think I can do like you did just to loose it , and in this way to be able to fix the cabinets properly?

    • @HowToWithMrNoodle
      @HowToWithMrNoodle  6 лет назад

      I am not sure I fully understand your question. I am assuming that your back splash is too far left hanging into the area where your range goes preventing your range from being pushed all the way back. If that is the case you can certainly try and remove it using wedges then re position it with some construction adhesive. In another scenario if this is a slide in oven and it is hitting the underside of the counter top on the right side you can cut the screws on the right side and lift it gently with a few wedges placed between the face frame and the sub top. The wedges will be a permanently placed. In order to re-secure the top to the cabinet you will have to carefully angle some screws from the underside through the cabinet frame into the sub-top. If this is not the case a picture may help me offer a better suggestion. In the end if you don't feel comfortable doing this project please hire a reputable counter top company to make the fix.

    Thanks for the tips. Question: If I am replacing my kitchen cabinets with the same configuration and I’m unable to separate the sub-top from the granite slab due to an excessive amount of glue can I just reuse the sub-top as well and fasten it to the cabinets using multiple L-brackets and short screws? Shouldn’t that and the weight of the granite be enough to hold it in place? Thanks.

    • @advancedanr
      @advancedanr 4 года назад +1

      If you want it to look rigged you can or you can take the multi cutting tool that he was using to cut nails to cut the glue. Same principle, get something thin up underneath the granite and then start cutting the glue while you the granite a little at a time. don't get impatient and try to lift it too much or else you will break the granite

    • @HowToWithMrNoodle
      @HowToWithMrNoodle  5 лет назад

      If you removed the counter top you could use a diamond blade in a wet saw to cut off the quarter inch. You could follow that up with a polishing wheel using a side grinder type tool. To do it in place would be quite a bit more difficult and require specialized tools and techniques ans getting the final cut up against the wall would be the most difficult part. Not impossible just difficult.

      I have seen other videos online that utilize a blow torch or a heat gun to soften the adhesive allowing the pieces to be separated. Sorry, I can't be of more help as I have never done this myself, however in this video: ruclips.net/video/QTvqZFgUKaM/видео.html they demonstrate the usage of a blow torch and a box cutter to seperate the seam.

      Hi what worked for me after seeing the video that he suggest was to use a heat gun. Use a Stanley knife ie box cutter to cut as much as I could on the joint while heating up. Then put the wedge ie Shim on one side of the joint ie supporting one of the granite pieces and raise it and push the other down it snap the joint. It was only glued altogether I don't know if they use a wood pin to connect internally what will happen

    I got an idea, instead of taking and cutting each screw how about look on the bottom side of that piece of wood that the screw is going through and back it out. Only two ways to screw could be put in and that would either be from the top through the granite which I doubt or from bottom through the wood into the granite. Shouldn't be too hard to find the screw head

    Hi there ! Why put screws with granit countertop when glue is supposed to be enough?

      The granite countertop in the video has a wooden substrate its glued to. The substrate is between the cabinets and granite so the screws are in the substrate not the granite

    I wanted to see the bottom of the slab; how do the screws connect the granite and the wood?

      The screws hold the plywood to the cabinet and the granite is glued to the plywood.

    You couldn’t unscrew it from the inside?

      They lay a piece of plywood on top of the cabinets, like a countertop, and put screws in from the top. Then they put the granite on top of that so the screw heads are covered by the granite.
