i honestly cant wait to see where hip hop cultures heading in NZ in the next 20 years. With all these professional critics on youtube and a new rapper born on the internet every 5 seconds.
Nzhiphop started to fall off when the management got slack.. A lack of dedicated radio shows with great freestyle sessions which kept the fans happy. The early 2000z was a great time for Nzhiphop!!
Couldnt agree more bro, mainstream in nz stared away from our own hip hop/rap scene and jumped on the huge bandwagon of the u.s, but i have faith in the young brothers pushing their shit now but still the no recognition from our own radio stations but fuck that im glad the world is only gripping our shit now because of the internet but we have anthems like this that we can go back to and people wont know about it. Just us og kiwis.
@@hhunting_trolls9500 Disagree. 2000s NZ hip hop scene was corny af, with the exception of a few (Nesian Mystik, Savage, Scribe). Tom Scott and his Young Gifted & Broke label has created a truly unique world class sound with a massive stack of artists (Diggy Dupe, Melodownz, Raiza Biza, JessB, Team Dynamite) not to mention D Dot himself. 2010s has been a golden era of NZ hip hop and hasn't tried to jump on any US bandwagon (with the exception of SWIDT)
No we dont...I grew up in manurewa..mangere..and grey lynn, went to mags and st pauls...it has always been like that...whatever america has we copy it....the only original music we created was herbs, dave dobbyn, when the cats away etc...we need more of damn native, upper hutt posse, rythyim and oj..etc
