    Scargil got one thing right he said "if thatcher has her way they won't be pit left in britain", but eventually his bravado, and arrogance led the NUM down a doomed path with his absolute refusal to negotiate with the NCB.

    I have to admit that I wasn't Scargills biggest fan even though I was personally involved in the miners strike. But I have to say: that everything he predicted to happen, happened. The real blame lies with the Thatcher government. They stocked piled coal and cheap coal from abroad for months- the government had prepared for a long haul. And in the end they won.

    I don't understand how you can cry foul over getting a few slaps off the Police, but think its ok to murder a Taxi Driver just doing his job. To then claim that they did not intend to kill anybody, what did you think was going to happen when you smash a concrete slab through the screen of a car doing 50 plus mph.
