What about heat and fan noise on these and other PC computers?
depends on which one you get. f.e. these gaming focused laptop with dedicated graphic cards are notorious for having bad battery lives and can get extremely loud and hot. They are really powerful tho. Dual Screen Laptops have bad battery lives but are much more quiet. I personally own the zenbook flip 14 oled and I'm pretty happy. It's quite powerful but it has no dedicated gpu so battery life is fine. In Idle the laptop is completely quiet and still doesn't get hot. If i put on some workload you can definitely hear the fans ramp up but not as much as it would feel uncomeatable in an environment with a lot of people. The only downside compared to macbooks is the battery life, when I have like a max of 6 hrs most people with macs around me always praise how long these macbooks can go without charging...but this kinda is the case with most windows laptops.
TBH Windows laptops are great. But they don't have MacOS in them, which is a big drawback.

having used macos daily for over 7 years as a software engineer, i have no issues switching to ubuntu on my personal laptop, windows on my gaming rig and back to macos on my company issued mbp 16. why limit yourself to only one os?

I'd like to stick to a powerful laptop that gets all the basics right which my MacBook Pro M3 Pro 16" fulfils perfectly.
By basics, I mean stability, battery life, great display, amazing speakers, webcam, the list goes on -- don't get me started on performance.
It's expensive yes, better windows PC hardware for the price? Yes but it's all about what works for YOU and this does everything I want and more without the finnicky aspects of windows.
But for gaming, I'll stick to windows... but 80% of the time, I still reach for my mac.
I'm returning my base spec m3 pro macbook pro as I've realised I need lots of ram and storage, and the minimum usuable spec for me would be 3300 dollars so I'm looking at a couple windows laptops. I think my best option is the Asus zenbook pro 14, and one of my gripes with it is that it only has one thunderbolt port, it has another usb c which isn't a current generation port.
Windows laptops like to cheap out like this, even the razer blade for 3000 dollars has only one, even though intel cpus have support for 4.
But it shocked me to see that the far cheaper and lower end non pro asus zenbook has two! 😮💨

If you are a Mac user, you might find Windows annoying no matter what the hardware specs are.
Two displays are very niche and very expensive. Lenovo is spending a fortune on advertising and sponsorship despite these being unlikely to appeal to less than 0.001% of humankind. I certainly would not swap it for my Macbook, and it wouldn't be a close decision.
I disagree, before Lenovo Yoga Book 9i, Asus was already selling 2 display (kind of) laptop if you ever heard about Asus screenpad plus, and the selling number was very good, to prove it this year Asus even join Lenovo to make a literally 2 displays laptop….i mean Asus is not stupid, if the selling number of this kind of device was that low (0.001%) they will not continue the series for years till now
i would love to swap from my MacBook to windows ...but how to import all the Photos from mac to windows and all the page files etc...
You can start now by slowly moving the photos to Google Photos. I have the family plan and my wife and kids use my quota even on their iPhones.
Its not just about photos. If you are a Mac user, you might not like Windows. While windows is not as glichy as it used to be, it is still extremely annoying and non-intuitive. You might not like the windows experience at all. Google photos is 2/10 of Apple Photos.
@@Asifalirahman1 that's subjective tho. my wife and kids prefer google photos on their iPhones. not sure about apple photos, but i can simply search by face, or by location, or only videos of this face, etc.
and my library is now 800GB photos and videos from back in 2006 so it's not feasible to move to another service anyway, especially when i remember that 600GB of that is free from google because it was backed up before they started charging for space saver. how do i know this? last month i downloaded everything from photos and it took 800GB despite me paying only $3 for 200GB per month.
I checked all these laptops and are more expensive than the macbook air with the m2, while the battery of them is half of the macbook s, so I will probably buy that model. Waste of my time with this clip honestly

Those windows machines still fail tremendously when only running on battery power. As soon as you take out the charger, they slow down too much and fans get too loud so no thanks.
that's weird. one would assume the fans would be quieter if the cpu is slowed down.
this actually is the case they are quiter when they are not on power at least in my experience but he's right performance plumates when on battery especially with gaming notebooks. An dell xps on the other side is apparently pretty good in keeping up with their promisses even on battery

well sure, it's a new device. would be a waste to upgrade in the next 5 years. i myself use a 2018 thinkpad l380 yoga with touchscreen and upgradable ram and ssd. will be upgrading to 64gb ram and 2tb ssd soon to handle some new stuff i plan to learn.
let's all do our part to reduce ewaste.
@@tempeleng thats right, it is a new device. I had to upgrade...i bought my old laptop 7 years ago and it was one of the cheapest. It can not handle any of the programmes i need for university. Thats why i bought the M3 Max (they use apple there). It should be enough for the next 5 to 10 years IN order to safe money and reduce ewaste
