KB2024 - Middle - Canaan Downs South

Kings Birthday series is an annual orienteering carnival - this year in Tasman, at the very top of the South Island - sunniest spot in New Zealand. The middle was at Canaan Downs South, at the top of the Takaka Hills (a filming location for Lord of the Rings). Famous for its geology, especially limestone caves and karst rocky outcrops. This was always going to be hard, especially for someone unfamiliar with karst rocky outcrops...
Kings Birthday series is primarily the qualification event for the NZ Secondary Schools Team.

I was hesitant to control 1 (people running in all directions), but gained confidence as I went round the course. I am not entirely convinced I didn't climb an impassable cliff on the way to control 6... but control 12 messed me up completely - I had to relocate twice. 15th Overall.
M50A - 3 km, 15 controls - many thanks to Amelia, Calum, Annemarie, Micheal and Nelson Orienteering Club for organising.
