    Very helpful Bec! Quick question...prior to the page limits being brought in I would do a short sentence or two at the beginning before addressing each criteria, giving a short overview of my philosophy etc, and a short sentence or two at the end projecting myself into the position. Is this still the done thing?

    • @talkinchalk
      @talkinchalk  3 года назад

      Hi Emily. Some still use a very short intro/philosophy sentence. 2 lines max, if possible just 1. I think the projection statements can only fit in the principal applications that allow 1 page in the specific criteria.

    Hi Bec, thank you for the video. What are your thoughts on the use of action/projection statements at the end of the criteria. For example, As assistant principal of xxx I will xxx. Is it a waste of space?

    • @talkinchalk
      @talkinchalk  3 года назад

      This is such a tricky one now that we have such limited space. Many panels would like to see that in their submissions but others don't. I would recommend including a very short and succinct one at the end of the criteria, not one for each point you make. That is if you can fit it in.

    Hi! Would you use paragraphs of writing as part of your Cover Letter or do you think that's too wordy and lengthy? Thanks

    • @talkinchalk
      @talkinchalk  3 года назад +1

      No I recommend only points on your cover page. Your details, employment history in dates and duties, professional learning and referees. A short and sharp snapshot of you 😁

    Thanks for this helpful video! I work in a NSW school. Lately there has been uncertainty around HOW you include your cover letter. Should it be attached as a separate document? Does it count toward your page restriction?
    When working through the NSW Teach Application Submission steps you include all of the details from your cover letter (personal details, roles, responsibilities referees...). What does this information look like from a panel perspective? Would you look at the information from submission steps or the cover letter... or both?
    I find it strange that we write this information in two places (written in submission steps and attached cover letter)

    • @talkinchalk
      @talkinchalk  3 года назад +2

      That info needs to be in the online submission just for records. The panel doesn't look at that. Only the application document so I recommend making it all one document starting with your cover page then your pages that address the selection criteria. Thats the document the panel will use. Your cover page is not included in your page count 😁

    If a criteria is as simple as 'Approval to teach Infant and Primary K-6', what sorts of points would you cover?
    Thanks Bec

    • @talkinchalk
      @talkinchalk  3 года назад +1

      This is a great place where you can showcase all your amazing experience that you dont have room for in other criteria. For example, maybe none of the criteria is about extra curricular activities and you would really like to share how you extend kids through those programs

    • @talkinchalk
      @talkinchalk  3 года назад +1

      But make sure your main points are all about quality teaching K-6 first 👌

    My question is in regard to employment history. I have taught in three states in both the public and independent system as either fulltime or as a casual. I have had various stages of relieving in executive positions as well from as little as 4 weeks to as long as 6 months. The problem is - how much of this do you include in your history as it can be very 'bitsy'. Is casual work relevant? Is experience in other states and systems relevant?

    • @talkinchalk
      @talkinchalk  3 года назад

      I would recommend sticking with the longer employment unless your casual work was substantial. Definitely include the executive roles.
