My father was a WORLD WAR 2 veteran. He was raised on Sinatra and Billy Holiday. He HATED the Beatles. But whenever he came to visit me, he always asked "Can you play "The Lonely Road'. I knew what he meant. So I would sit down at the piano and sing to him, The Long And Winding Road. He loved this song. I wish I could play it for him still, but he passed in 2002. Whenever I hear this song I think of my Dad. Thanks Cim for reacting to this song. It brought back many wonderful memories. RNB
I love this song too and I Paul McCartney is my favourite Beatles singer…..🎶he’s got an amazing voice and the lyrics are awesome too👏👌and you are so good at these reactions well done my darling🤗🤗
This song always grabs my heart and makes me want to cry. It’s not just the sad tone or melancholy lyrics but the fact that this was at the end of the road for the magic that was a gift to the world, called “The Beatles”. I could picture Paul singing this to the other band members and it just tears me up. Lovely reaction!🌺✌️
Great Paul song here and gives me fond memories of my father. I remember just getting in the car with my father when I was 12 in 1970 and on KDKA Radio out of Pittsburgh, Pa. the DJ came on and said "It's official, The Beatles have broken up and that it's been a long and winding road" and then he played this song. I was crushed, even my father said it was sad. My father, who is gone now was a professional singer and musician, so be knew something about music. He always enjoyed Beatles music and they were the only pop band he ever gave credit too as far as I can remember. I also remember probably about 15 or 20 years ago, every Sunday morning there was an hour long radio show called " Breakfast With The Beatles" and I knew every Sunday morning I would get a phone call from him asking if I was coming over for breakfast and listen to The Beatles show with him. These are wonderful memories for me. I clearly remember the song "If I Feel" came on and he said "Now, these guys could really Sing" I don't know why that sticks out in my mind, but it does. My father was a quiet but really cool guy who was a medic in WW11 who came ashore as a twenty year old at Normandy, France on D Day+2 and made it all the way to Germany through the end of the war. The one regret I have is he would never speak about it except for some funny stories. I guess the horrors he experienced were just too painful. Because of my parents I had every Beatles album and single and when The Beatles came to Pittsburgh in September, 1964 I wanted wanted too see them so much and my father worked with a guy who's daughter worked at a record store or somewhere that sold tickets so my father was able to score 4 tickets for my older sister and I and my parents. What great memories I have of that evening. Beatlemania was something one would have too experience first hand to explain. Let It Be was their last lp released I 1970 but recorded in early 69 but Abbey Road, released in September, 1969 is actually the last Lp the band recorded together. There is also a version of this song from the Lp Let It Be Naked released in 2003 with no choir or strings which I kinda prefer and that's the way Paul intended it to be released. The Let Be Lp story is a little complex, I'm not going to get into that right now. The 50th anniversary remix of the Lp Let It Be was just released last Saturday, check it out Cim, it sounds incredible. You really need too react to John's "Across The Universe" from this one, it's beautiful ! Sorry for getting all sentimental here Cim but The Long And Winding Road triggers a lot of pleasant memories for me. That's the thing with The Beatles music, those of us who were fortunate to live it as it happened it kind of became the soundtrack to our lives which even carries on with younger ones through today. I can't think of any other band or artist that had this much impact on people 🌎🌍 wide like these four boys did. By the way, the new Let It Be release is a year late due to COVID. Take care and always stay safe Cimdy. ✌️☮️💕
"Many times I've been alone....and many time's I've cried.....anyway.... you'll never know .....the many way's I've tried."....heart and soul piercing.....most of us can relate to. Without a doubt one of Paul's finest.....if this doesn't move one.....then your either immature with no life experience or a rock.
Also, how about the genius of only putting this bridge section in one time. There was string section around the chords later in the song, but only these few measures with singing, and not repeated again.
It always amazed me that Paul let John play bass on this, his "baby", when he was famous for his bass perfection. People have criticized the bass line for decades, but I think the "looseness" is just right- or maybe I've it heard it so many times I can't imagine it any other way.
Paul singing about all the time the Beatles have been together. From the time they were in Hamburg the cellar club , all of it been a long winding road. Now to everyone's sorrow it is over. Paul is also saying if there is a road back count him in. Sorrow for the world when they split up. Could do with the Beatles now, to bring some love and hope back to the people. Never will be 4 musician who can capture the world with beautiful music. Those of us who were there 60years ago will for ever have the memories
Hi Ms.Cimdi....... I always appreciate your appreciation of Beatles songs. Their music is always worth listening to and talking about. I've heard that some of the Beatles did not like the string arrangement by Phi Spector but I actually prefer this version to the "naked" version.
If a singer / songwriter came up with only this one song in their career, they would be famous. It is songs of this quality that separate Paul McCartney from everybody else.
For me, this song has always been a religious song, a prayer from Paul to his Maker, asking the Lord to lead him back once again to His door; perhaps after Paul had become too immersed in this world of materialism and fleeting pleasures .... I might be wrong, but that's what this beautiful song of yearning seems to be, at least in my mind ....
You'll love David Soul . Don't give Up On US Baby . Another great Ballad with beautiful strings and a great voice . He's an actor of Starsky And Hutch fame
The song is good, the production is too mushy for my liking. It is a sentimental balad but Spector's wall of sound makes everything a bit too exaggetared. No wonder why Paul hated it...
This is the version I dislike the most, where the Murderer Phil Spector drops his pants and dump his infamous "t*rd of sound" all over it. Of course, the orchestra and choral arrangementw are gorgeous but the original is the soul of the artist. And this is NOT close to the soul of McCartney. I know people don't really like McCartney when they pledge allegiance to this, Spector's version.
This is the Naked Version, which is one of several original-version mixes, usually disintinguishes by the instrumental break. It's George on that caliope'd guitar, and Billy Preston or Paul doing electric keyboard overlays. ruclips.net/video/lfVAJNqWw84/видео.html

This is such a beautiful song.
A very very sad love song, sung softly. Thanks for reacting
The song is very inspiring
Beautiful voice
this was the Beatles last single 45 rpm released, right after they broke up. what a swan song, as they say [
I had to close my eyes to just absorb and enjoy this melody. I love it. Your reaction as always fantastic.
Thank you so much
This is another hit from the amazing group, The Beatles are the baddest in this game, they never disappoint

Bring on the pretenders to the THROWN!!
This has always been one of my favorites. Thanks, Cimdy.
You are welcome
@@CimdyStyle I came back to listen again
Thanks for the update
"The Long and Winding Road" was The Beatles last number-one hit in the USA. I've always understood the song to be McCartney's farewell to the band.
This piece has always stirred me deeply. Infinite. Thanks for this one, Cimdy!
Hello Cindy, glad you liked it. I was brought up on Beatles songs, being a 69 year old. Nice reaction as always.
I enjoy listening to this song
Wonderful ……the Beatles were my teens …..my teens were the Beatles xx❤️👍

Wrong.. the strings add a full Ness and beauty to it.

I like that idea!
@@sarahfullerton6894 Thank you, Sarah! As they say, great minds think alike!
Last number one for them in the us
Hey Cimdy, your analysis makes me wonder whether you studied music. You are very thoughtful.❤️
Thank you so much 🤗
Strangely McCartney tried to block the song from being released with this arrangement which had been added by Phil Spector.
✌️😎👍

The original instruments sound rather anemic compared to the orchestral version, so I prefer this version and ask for Paul's forgiveness.
