Good day Troy. Thank you for uploading this video. I found it very helpful and informative. I do have some questions. I hope you will be able to answer: 1. My wife and I (RSA citizens) have been married for over a year traditionally (Islamic). We do have a "certificate" with witnesses (signed by our muslim cleric). Is this not recognized by the government? 2. We would like to get married out of community of property, so the process would be; - prepare an ANC by an attorney - have the ante nuptial letter signed by a marriage officer with accompanying documents required. -the documents will be submitted and after 3 months or so we will receive our marriage certificate. 3. I would like to become a marriage officer to assist our mosque with our ceremonies. What is process of becoming one?
HI Mubeen, thanks for your message. Yes you are correct that the Islamic marriage is not recognised and you would have to either go to Home Affairs themselves or to someone like myself to get the legal requirements done. You would need to have the ANC drawn up by a lawyer for the day of the wedding or signing the register and have your SA IDs and those of your witnesses. YOU don't have to wait 3 months, this can be done as soon as you have the contract signed and the correct Docs for the Marriage Officer. On the day of signing you will receive your marriage certificate. As far as the becoming a MO is concerned, you would have to contact HA directly as they are the only department that can designate someone as a MO and under very specific guidelines. My email address is weddings@telkomsa.net if you want more info. Regards Troy
you all prolly dont give a damn but does anybody know a way to get back into an Instagram account?? I was stupid lost my password. I love any tips you can give me!

Hi Troy..My husband and I (RSA citizens) have been married for over 2 years according to the Islamic tradition. We wish to get married legally in COP. What is the process? Is it done at court or at the home affairs offices? Do I call in to book an appointment or do I have to visit home affairs to book the appointment? Your reply would be appreciated. Thank you for an informative video.
Hi there Thanks for the message. if you want to register your marriage then you will either go to Home Affairs once they are open again for weddings and they will do the registration for you. the other option is to use someone like myself that is a marriage officer and do the registration through me. this means you will have a special moment rather than just signing the register. At Home Affairs it is a free service but you will wait many months to get an appointment. you can email me if you would like me to help? good luck and enjoy your marriage....oh and please keep safe
