      I updated to the version 2 OS, installed a 1tb SSD and removed the 80gb hard drive (it was the main thing slowing it down, and I treat it like a machine from 2008 not like a machine from 2024. It’s not super fast so I don’t run through menu’s super fast like I do on the studio 2. I have had it hang once loading files, when I was rushing. Hasn’t since.

    If I remember correctly, the fan's default orientation is set to intake, which only cools the input side of the PSU, causing the output side to become very hot. I recapped the output, reversed the original fan to exhaust, and added a second 40mm fan blowing directly onto the output side. You need to be mindful of the second fan’s angle, as it might blow the hot air onto the boards.

    • @PetrolMediaInc
      @PetrolMediaInc  27 дней назад +1

      I did not know that. That is really good to know. What I ended up doing as a solution was taking a external powered ventilation fan that has high airflow but low noise and set it up behind the unit to have the air flow into it. I’m probably gonna look at which way the air flows and set it up more efficiently

      @@PetrolMediaInc Reversing the stock fan's orientation and adding a second one is the way to go. You might also consider using Noctua's 40mm fans.

    Does the mpc 5000 come with built in drum sounds or no? That’s been something I’ve been thinking about before I buy one 😅

    • @PetrolMediaInc
      @PetrolMediaInc  3 месяца назад

      No built in drums. Though you can download the original drum sample pack that came with it I believe but it’s not in the machine. It does come with a built in synth. At my website www.petrolmediainc.com I have kits for it that are already formatted to function with all of the samplers of that era.

    The 5000 in my opinion is a monster and I love it , the problem was it came out after the 4000 and many thought it was going to be like the 4000 but with even more which it does have but akai also took things away , the first os did not help the 5000, really the 5000 is a upgrade from the 2500.

    Def you need 2 of these if trying working hard on it. It breaks... and you stop. Love it... but it breaks. HD recording has several bugs. Its easy to lose recordings

      @@PetrolMediaInc Love it... but it rests too much on yhe repair shop... I bought a 2500 last week just to keep things going. Lets see. When it bugsit is frustrating. Also, if you find a good way to hd record I will apreciate if you share.

      @@Zemael I will try out the internal recording soon and I’ll see what I find because I haven’t tried it yet. And I think the reason why you’re feeling like it’s in the shop a lot is if you’ve gotten it used from someone else they haven’t thoroughly taken care of it so of course there’s gonna be some issues. With mine, I realized when I first got it I had to take apart certain things and check to make sure they were OK and then once I found all of the issues I resolved most of them and it should be fine for years but I agree having spare parts is a good idea. And in all honesty, the only reason why I have is because I love it I started with it (the 2000xl), and it’s workflow makes sense to me. But most of the time when I have to get something done for a deadline, I’m just using logic, Pro or Serato studio.

    • @PetrolMediaInc
      @PetrolMediaInc  6 месяцев назад

      @@Zemael the reason I went with this over the 2000 XL, and why I picked up the 1000 as well is because of the ability to transfer via USB or compact flash to the computer and launch the same session inside of the MPC studio two software. This allows for an easy transfer of files to create stems for me to mix in logic, which is where I mix in the end anyway. I have a video on my channel about that whole process.

    Very good MPC but I dont think you could record in 24bit 96k..You can do that on the 4000..That was the only MPC that allowed that..The 5k has a nice built in synth and a smooth workflow.

    • @PetrolMediaInc
      @PetrolMediaInc  11 месяцев назад +2

      It is a good MPC. I’m not sure why they went with 16bit for the 5000 after the 4000 was set to 24 a bit, and you are correct you cannot create in sequence in 24 bit. However, the built-in hard disk recording when using the eight track recording mode allows for 24-bit 96K. Again, not sure why that was allowed for that, however, that feature only works if the plan is to export those files via a USB port, or pull them off the drive to drop in to DAW on your computer. If you’re going to burn to a cd, it has to be 16 bit. Only the 8track hard disk recording supports 24bit 96khz.
      I have a 32 channel mixing console so most of the time I’m going to record all the tracks at once directly through that, and into my DAW.

    • @PetrolMediaInc
      @PetrolMediaInc  11 месяцев назад +2

      @@kevinsullivan2360you can’t export in 24/96. Only record to the hard disk via the 8 track recording mode then transfer it. It’s in the manual on page 58 or so.

      sadly no. You could build your own power supply which I’m considering but the best thing I’ve found is to buy one that’s having issues for spare parts. They just didn’t sell enough of these. Or find an old alesis fusion keyboard. It uses the same power supply.
