- Emotional scenes at Mumbai's Girgaon Chowpatty after Ganesh Visarjan in 2022 that will make you cry. After Ganpati Bappa is immersed in the sea water, there is a transformation of Mumbai's coast. In this video I convey to you the right way of doing visarjan and also motivate you not to get influenced by wrong methods which will not only harm the environment but also make people cry when they see certain idols washed up on the shores of the Mumbai Coastal Road Project. On the day of visarjan, hundreds of tall idols travel across the city with people singing and dancing to the tunes of the Nashik Dhol to ultimately reach the shoreline of the city at Girgaon Chowpatty which is on the Mumbai Coastal Road Project route, it's almost exactly where this project worth billions of dollars is getting built by a mega compilation of Indian as well as International construction companies. One of the most expensive infrastructure projects in the world! The tallest and the biggest idols are immersed right next to this project and it would be a sight to behold in future. Ganesh Festival is one of the biggest multi cultural festival in the world and millions of people visit these epic and creative idols during the course of this 10 day festival. I have tried to incorporate all the 3 languages, Hindi, Marathi and English in this video so that maximum number of people can benefit from the knowledge and motivation that it contains. Ganeshotsav or Ganpati festival is one of the biggest festivals of the country, India. Maharashtra is where it all began as a way of uniting the people against the British Empire. Its a festival that is being celebrated over a 100 years and is growing stronger, bigger and powerful with each passing year. Prayers are offered to Lord Ganesha, son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. Many groups and families bring Ganpati idols of different styles to the households. People exhibit their creativity and talent in decorating the surroundings of Ganesha. Nowadays people have also started holding photography competitions in which the youth participate wholeheartedly. It is an auspicious time of the year when people come together to celebrate and at the same time pray to seek blessings of their beloved God, Ganesha. Lalbaug, Parel and Girgaon are said to be the prime Ganpati locations. The Lalbaug Cha Raja is possibly the most famous Ganpati of them all because it is said to make miracles. Many devotees have had their wishes fulfilled here and as a token of gratitude make huge donations and contributions in cash, jewellery, gold or even diamonds! All of the treasures collected are then put to good use primarily for social causes. Other Ganpatis include the Mumbai Cha Raja or Ganesh Gully Cha Ganpati and the Chinchpokli Cha Raja. The atmosphere is full of positive vibes and one can't help but dance to the tunes of it. Normally it takes around 2-3 hours for seeking darshan of Lalbaug Cha Raja because it attracts really massive, giant crowds but the day on which I visited was one of the rare occasions when Mumbai had shut down owing to heavy incessant rains. Owing to this many people chose either to stay at home or their office rather than venturing out in the storm. I think the BMC or the Govt. of Maharashtra should provide either paid or free 5 to 6 similar crane systems like the Lalbaugcha Raja has for visarjan for all the Ganesh mandals who have tall idols so they can be immersed in proper depth of water.

पुराणों के अनुसार, वेद व्यास जी भगवान गणेश को कथा सुनाते थे और बप्पा उसे लिखते थे. कथा सुनाते समय वेद व्यास जी ने अपने नेत्र बंद कर लिए. वो 10 दिन तक कथा सुनाते गए और बप्पा उसे लिखते गए. लेकिन जब दस दिन बाद वेद व्यास जी ने अपने नेत्र खोले तो देखा कि गणपति जी के शरीर का तापमान बहुत ज्यादा बढ़ गया था. वेद व्यास जी ने उनका शरीर ठंडा करने के लिए ही उन्हें जल में डुबा दिया जिससे उनका शरीर ठंडा हो गया. कहा जाता है कि उसी समय से यह मान्यता चली आ रही है कि गणेश जी को शीतल करने के लिए ही गणेश विसर्जन किया जाता है.

This was such a good video, you explained it very well. I hope one day we will celebrate 100% eco friendly ganesh chaturthi thet will not harm sea or any other natural water bodies. At the end bappa never want to harm anybody the why should we pollute seas and harm that marine life. At the end it is our festival whether it's big idol or whether it's small idol they both are same. Both are vighnharta, vakratunda mahakaya, and many many other names. Bappa come to our home once in a year we should welcome him, celebrate with him, make him happy and when he go too that endless sea he will miss us just like we miss us after visarjan and until next year.

Hey buddy our bappa was also ecofriendly bappa and v also immersed at ganapati bappa temple in vazira v are comfortable doing visarjan there and wat u said its absolutely correct young generations are forgetting our traditions and only see the negatives yes v all need to understand that v shouldnt disturb nature v also use to bring pop idols fearing that clay idols will be delicate earlier but sooner after seeing after effects of visarjan next day v thought if v do v should only bring ecofriendly
But big and famous mandals themselves also should think of nature and do it lyk girgaon cha raja and many other idols that were of 15 feets but some where made with newspaper and clay or they should only immerse small idols lyk they do in pune its high time v should all think of nature

Nicely Explained! We need to ponder and take action on this. I think a sustainable option would be to reach a compromise between the ecological aspect and the management aspect of it. The State governments can run mass awareness programmes to encourage bringing in idols made of natural earth, while at the same time taking some steps to gradually phase out the use of POP through penalties, etc. But more than the idols the real challenge is the immersion process. BMC should devise measures to allow immersion of bigger idols only on certain designated beaches (such as Girgaum Chowpatty) and install these cranes for the use of all the Mandal idols. This way the entire process gets regulated since only specific beaches allow big idols + the immersion takes place in a structured manner ensuring the idol is properly immersed into the deep, thus avoiding the resurfacing of remnants on the shores.
Yes, these are good suggestions. I think this will happen in the coming years or atleast some parts of it will see the light of day if not all.
