I love how they add helicopter buzzing sounds even though the thing is so quiet you can’t even hear it from two feet away
That guy on the cliff sucks at hiding.
Its insane how well he was hiding. Standing straight up in the open like that.
lol

We learned how to fight in a war when at middle school but even then I was better than the one.We always shouted "pupil is soldier" while marching and saluting in uniform.
Why does the voiceover sound like it's recorded in a toilet?
have you ever heard of flushing meadows sound studio?
Paul Bolger Bitch Bitch.
I know the journalist, his name is Espen Steingaard and works in Norwegian broadcasting. He had to shoot and edit the whole shit very quick. He edited the capture in his laptop and added a voiceover. The nearest wc became his office for 20 minutes.
Because it is! He’s full of shit.
Paul Bolger maybe it was!
That’s a insane hiding spot standing in the middle of a opening in the woods with a 20ft shadow
"Paul is the drone's target. He is going to hide. About 1km away, at the top of small cliff" Next to the stone shaped as a cube behind the tree with no leaves among a forest, where no other tree suffers from leaf-loss. Yeah, this is indeed "reconnaissance". :D
Lol, "hes hiding about 1km away, on top of a cliff due northwest from us, at exactly these coordinates we've put into the drones GPS, let's see if we can make him out from the three pixels our three cameras provide!"
Damn this guy is the reason we now have awesome cheap mini rc helis. cheers bro.
The point of this drone is that it is SO small, and therefore stealthy. The design principle of making the target weight a priority, rather than down-scaling, is correct. Kudos to these engineers. Now if thermal imaging can be brought aboard, it will be an incredible platform. And Cheap. And available to all. Shazbot!
LOL the target was standing out in the open looking at the heli with a smile. what a tough target it was
tough with nokia camera quality.
Hey Now The DJI FPV motion controller
The latest model of black hornet got much quieter, lighter and compact now.
could you point us to a video?
@@galgogergo ruclips.net/video/rm_xMuo2Ong/видео.html
Meh it’s more gimmicky and fad filled now. Not really a good package.
Also the buzzing is fake sound effects added.
@@kishascape do you have any reference to what you're saying?
Of course the military would pay 30 grand for an Air Hog.
PeyoteIguana That thing performs way better than a mall helicopter. It's closer in performance to collective pitch hobby micros but seems a lot simpler mechanically as well. If you've ever owned one of those things you know that keeping them running is like working on a watch and are incredibly hard to fly (they are basically full scale helicopters in micro form). This thing seems to have the performance without the associated mechanical complexity and difficult control.
***** not really neither
+GremlinFPV Have you tried Naze32 mini with 10dof and MAX7Q GPS? 2g GPS modules are available. You can have longer video range with a 200mW module, also only a few grams if you choose the right one.
I dunno, does airhog sell helicopters with three internal cameras, one of which is infrared?
Tuna Funk the Dutch military just bought a few for 40 grand each.
'Target' was hiding? Yeah..sure...more like standing in the middle of open field, far from trees. Which enemy does that?
Oh yeah I would definitely buy this, I just gotta hope my enemy is standing still in an open field waiting for me to come so I can find him. Best invention ever
1km range would detect enemies fine. I think.
20 min is a lot of time for a small heli like this! The toy market last 7 - 8 min. My big drone last 15 - 20 min.
and that cost is over $500 bucks. But I can get battery upgrade for 25 min.
for tens of thousands of dollars I'll just buy a DJI Phantom, rig it with and HD camera and also mount a mini gun to finish the job. LOL.
Lekadol Si the new dji drones have ranges up to 7 kilometers
Buy dji mavic 2 with flir thermal camera. For way less
@@robertjarrard4541 Mavic Mini. 400 bucks US.
Do you even know how much a minigun weights ?
@@TheNefastor It could be a really really minigun. It would sting, maybe put an eye out.
We were really impressed by this when it came out.
"They've located their target HIDING on the top of the cliff"
I don't think HIDING is the way to put it.
Arnold Helibus was the first successful indoor helicopter. I had one as a child.
2020: Now we have the DJi Mavic Mini...
This is still better for what it is ment to be used for. You cant compare a cheap commercial drone with a drone made to meet millitary needs.
lmao
@@Faddnn What do you mean "you can't compare?" Of course you can. There is absolutely nothing technologically challenging or especially advanced about this thing and there is no way in hell they're worth 10k a pop. That's a farce but then most military spending is.
@@gblan 1. You hear the cheap drone hovering over you.
2. The military drone is much lighter and smaller.
3. The military drone is mad by only high end components.
4. The software/hardware is much more advanced and comes with more features
5. The military drone is made to opperate in combate situations.
I mean, there is a reason why military all over this world sign contracts with these guys and not with a toy manufacturer.
@ronnie doorzon It like asking why your not buying a RTX 2060 instead of the PNY Quadro... These drones do not have the same requirments when it comes to safety, they are not the same size and if you are not aware they keep updatting the military drone as well. This version is not the same as the current.
I like how it’s just 5 years ago and now we have better stuff as civilians
And way cheaper!
This is what you call a force multiplier. Individual squads in an infantry platoon could have these. On demand battlefield intelligence is priceless.
Every soldier could have one of these.
mPky1 There is no way these things purchased in bulk will cost 200k and building schools and hospitals are state funded projects, these will not take away from them at all.
Don't let your chilren grow up to be soldiers.
We can thank those people for making this world such a beautiful place to be...
Very cool, but I'm a bit confused about the price. Nearly $200,000 for the whole setup? I realize that this is a piece of military hardware, but I could build something similar (not as small) for less than five thousand dollars out of an Align Trex 700 or 800e with GPS, autopilot, first person cameras, electronic stabilization, a higher operational ceiling, and could potentially carry weapons. Tack on another 10-15 thousand and I could throw in a thermal camera.
350.00 for your thermal camera if you buy the flir one and tear it apart.
You can get one for like, a grand, but it wont have the resolution of a military grade thermal cam
... of course you couldn't build one that small that could carry conventional weapons. How many conventional weapons are that small?
have you ever built a helicopter?
*****
FPS russia had a quadcopter that had a UMP45 on board. it was also tough as shit as he shot it several times before it would crash...but i have no idea how much it is.
"Far out and high up." Well spoken.
far out and high opp*
Hiding standing up in a 30 ft clearing on top of a hill that they new he would be amazing
this needs to be combined with 3d video technology and some lightweight VR glasses for the operator.
Thats a high quality camera..
Incredibly compact UAV
In the beginning, the announcer with the muffled voice said the 'target' was hiding over a kilometer away. But at the end, he said the helicopter traveled 1300 meters. If they found the target, was directly overhead of him, and traveled back, while he was over 1km away, the helicopter would have had to travel over 2000 meters round trip.
Therefore, I call bullshit.
I see these things flying around in my local mall all the time. Usually flown by some Indian dude.
Stupid
Those are just cheap toys, nowhere near capable of what this thing can do. You'd be lucky to get enough range with one of those "mall" toys to actually fly it out of the mall, from the place where the Indian salesman was! 😂
@@mickmuzzmkmz1628 That thing can't do nothing, professional drones now a day are way better for 5% of the price!
@@joeltauficlaracastro8478 But "professional drones now a day" are 20 times bigger and have 20 times worse software.

Yep thats definitly a pocket sized base station
$195,000 ill just buy a full sized helicopter LOL
the cheapest helycopter in the world costs about $500 000. lol?
Vitia Mironencko There are helicopters as low as 20k I suggest you do more research before you become an expert.
where did you found for 20k hely?? haha, tell me, i am going to buy. but..please you do research, the cheapest lightweight hely costs 500k. 20k maybe hang-glider?
kole726 i forgot, you have to get expansive license for fly, but if in your country you can fly without license, then yeah, only 20k for hely
Vitia Mironencko Once again if you do your research you can own a helicopter that seats 1 person for 20k. This is still qualified as a helicopter because it does indeed have two rotor blades.
I could see how you could confuse that for a hang-glider.
A lot of people can build a quad-rotor out of self contained, modular parts that can do autonomous flight and surveillance for a fraction of the cost. All these guys are doing is taking already existing technology and soldering it onto one PCB.
Balle Klorin They do just search : How to build a drone it is quite simple
Everybody gangsta till the black hornet starts flyin
The system is only available for government agencies; www.bssholland.com/#!en/products/nano-uas-pd-100-black-hornet.html
+BSS Holland Then don't make a RUclips video about dummy.
+WankersCramp69 everybody know that obama browse youtube
+BSS Holland why does the government get all the cool stuff give me a drone and ill do a vlog.. for a pay check of course
Which explains why it's overpriced. I've seen better built by everyday people.
- imagine a hive of a dozen of hornet patrolling & searching ...remote controlled with artificial intelligent autonomous computer that observe any movement or change & send it to the commander ... compare the cost with a dozen of guarding & soldiers & vehicles ... also compare the stealth , casualties if scouting or patrolling soldiers targeted by enemy also who could you target or even observe a small drone like that , the speed , postilion of watching (eyesight )... etc
- I will no talk about locality & personal errors
I'm glad he designed this.
I have about 12 tiny helicopters
And 7 tiny whoops , the whoops all have 5.8 F.P.V. cameras 😎👍
The kid down the street , has even more of them than i do
😀
Vitia Mironencko если у террориста нет средств противодействия (что маловероятно, но нельзя исключать), то да, согласен.
Bhh- hy
So this thing cost tens of thousands of dollars, and they were impressed it could go barely under 1km while getting what appears to be like 240p live feed. Fast forward 7 years to 2020 and you can buy a DJI Mavic mini 2 drone for like $400 and you can fly it up to 10km while having full control through a HD live feed. Technology is wild.
the narrator sounds like he's in a box..
Now this is a drone. A vehical capable of fully autonomous operation. Yet some people call every multi rotor on the market a drone.
"pocket sized" base station 0:53
i would like to see more video on how well it flys outside - B/c bring out 1 of them micro copters from the mall & it will fly away & never comes back.
and soon you'll be able to 3d print most parts of it and then just go buy small cameras and all the other stuff and build one for less than 100$...
I can't imagine the battery life is that long. Probably uses a capacitor to hold a charge like the kids toys. An amazing design though
Or you can just use a racing drone and employed a fpv pro drone pilot to find the target
But they need to spend those 195,000/Piece , You know ;-)
With much better resolution too.
This heli had thermal vision and night vision and many good things...like weather proof, you can takeoff even it’s raining,,and had GPS,,you can fly within 1.8KM for distance I mean,,able to fly within 8-12KNT
Seriously? If any government wants this, they should just go to amazon. Hope they have prime! Anyways, I could get something with higher resolution for less than 1000 dollars.
But something with two cameras and one FLIR camera, that can fly in mountain terrain and works for 90 minutes on average?
@@odinlindeberg4624 No No, the maximum flight endurance is 18 minutes that too if it's Hovering at a spot. Get your Facts Right Dude.
Found the target hiding. Yes out in a open area. Im a quad pilot myself so i uderstand what your talking about. Very cool heli though. Well done!
particularly important, battery life =)
Interesting little UAV-Drone... Nano tech is growing.
See you in the skies.
Why not buy a Hubsan with better cam for 50 busks? 10.000 dollars for a gps? I Think i Can make one for 100$, with the same specs
The price was the cost of that prototype!
Can it fly in windy conditions?
Can it follow target?
What about automated runs? Monitor an area assigning its own path ways. Can return to recharge when needed.
Can it recover from crashing?
Does it have thermal-vision? Current camera looked like crap.
What db level does it have atm? Sounded pretty loud to me.
Anyway. These kind of drones can be prevented with an electric-bubble aka electric-net.
In combination with other protections Drones are not really a threat.
Still a fun geeky technical challenge though. Very expensive but fun.
Darth Vader narrating this??
Excellent job by our friend's company
God i hate the narrator's voice
"listen to how science-y i am!"

''spycam'' makes more noise than hell itself
10k USD ! :D
now you can buy smt like this for 100 USD :D
China... you did it again...
I think its auto pilot might be an issue in a jungle environment or an urban environment, then the user might have to manually return the drone to base, which could be a pain in the ass when going through/around obstacles.
4:03 Yeah... "hiding"
A Chinese drone maker can make such a package for about $200. The reason why others can't enter the drone industry is that DJI has most of the key drone related patents.
Tens of thousands of dollars/pounds/currency?!!! Ridiculous amount of money for just a 'model' with a camera and GPS!
They probably take in to accaunt the development costs as well
*****
perhaps they should have spent some of those "costs" on a better camera, you can get 7 quid key ring cams giving better footage lol
Micro transmitters could transmit to beacons on the GSM network (phones). The system wouldn't have to return to home as that would be wasting a lot of power. Better to get as much surveillance out of the little beast and when it runs out of power, it'll crash and self ignite.
Alternatively, the receiver would be within a few miles that would have a helix antenna for long range reception (10Km etc).
digitalbroadcaster What a great military strategy! Install GSM towers and cell phone base station buildings around the enemy location before spying on them!
Alternatively, we can place a 50 pound Lithium Ion battery on that little sucka so it can transmit 10 km!
Ah, but they do use portable GSM systems to monitor GSM traffic. Encoding and encrypting a video codec to send in packets would be easy enough.
how does it turn without banking?
$195, 000.00????
No surprise its Swiss -- experts at nano design. They've been nanoengineering complex luxury watches for years
"Each one costs tens of thousands of dollars"
Yeah, if you sell to the military you can charge tens of thousands of dollars :) Since I build stuff like this I know how cheaply they can be made.
The only reason that they cost $10000s of dollars is that R&D is being factored in. The reporters know full-well that losing one is not a particularly expensive problem.
Awful video quality, poor maneuverability, probably poor flight time and much too noisy.
I guess it's good enough for government work.At any rate it's government-priced.
uhm... hobby grade mini helicopters with the same maneuverability can only fly 6-10 mins at a time.. its it slower and heavier than the black hornet
plus the black hornet have 3 cameras on it
RC4ddict What are you talking about. Look ate the rotor and head design. It looks like those first small rc heli like Picooz. This can fly only forward, can't fly backward, hover etc. Cheap modern 4ch rc heli like v911 is beating this black hornet in every aspect.
shodanxx folks are forgetting that quadcopters require more electricity. this thing is sophisticated enough to be as performant with a traditional copter design. it needs to be skinny and small so as to be undetectable and so the war fighter can fit as many as possible with the least amount of wait in his kit.
tewkewl even if it's undetectable from your eyes we all do have ears right? ..listening to something like this is obvious, better do something about the motor noise, either make it total stealth or make it sound like birds or something
crackerworld FYI the filmmakers actually added noise to the movie for the "effect". The helicopter is effectivly inaudible in real life :-)
Seen a few DIY projects just as good for few dollars, imagine when nano technology is used
Dear Santa...
Curious about THAT battery tech. And what, ocusync 8.0? :p
What is wrong with the narrator audio
I tried to be cool once.
soundcloud.com/the-looking-men/be-cool
k
are you sure that video quality is enough to use in real battle
why the fuck does it costs 10s of thousands of dollars?
do you know how much money is poured into developing the $5 optical mouse that we can get on ebay these days? Do you know how much money 3M used to develop the sticky note which only costs you a few bucks for a 100 of them? Making something never exist before and bring it into reality is gold. Well... despite of the fact that if the design will be profitable and become popular or not. Not to mention aerodynamic is hard. Aerodynamic is hard math and engineering.... the "worst" kind of engineering....
Well, low volume production and r&d mockups will cost more on paper. Think how much the first iPhone before they went into production cost. All of the development time for iOS, the touch screen, camera, battery, processor etc would be lumped into that single unit. Mass producing them though after all of that is setup means 50 bucks a pop.
I'm fairly certain the negotiated price to keep them out of the hands of the enemy also has something to do with their inflated value. Force the enemy to develop their own by keeping the price artificially high. It's a tactic, not an abuse.
other than its large range ... i dont know why it costs so much. even so, 10K is way to much to develop such a thing. put in consideration that a lot of tiny helis are sold out there.
I saw a few drones going 20 miles for a price of $800 with GPS, better cams etc
Tens of thousands of dollars for what cost less than $100 to make, another way to waste tax payers money.
+Iyke Gbench We all know why.
Most drones don't come with night vision, thermal imaging, have secure communication links, etc. they do more than shot video and take pictures. They are not toys.
rainbowsixODST You can get thermal imaging for about $200. Once the market reaches, the chinese makers will make ir imaging a basic functionality of toy drones. Secure communication is also basically encryption and path issue which the Chinese are well capable of. Norway has no technology and cannot even make ships. Europe does not have advanced communication technology and is getting economy aid in such from Korea.
Yup right, Norway cant build ships, they must be the worlds worst shipmaker.

Looks too good to be true. Especially when they showed all those huge solder joints inside.
Wow! Since this is so easy and cheap why are there no videos posted here from you idiots that think you can build one of these for less than a $100? I don't understand how you think this is a toy. Yes you can buy rc heli's with gyro's on the cheap.....but guess what, they are basically garbage. So good luck following this one on the trip he demonstrated. Decent hobbygrade rc helis can cost up to $1000 and the real good ones can easily hit ten grand and take many man hours to build. There are none with these capabilities this tiny. A run of the mill gps unit is $300 and 3 times the size of that pd-100. A lithium polymer battery small enough to fit in there and power all the systems for this thing would be at least $200 alone. In the RC FPV world, something that fly's that far on a gps auto fn pilot costs minimum 4 figures and they are HUGE compared to this little guy.
Don't use logic and reason on RUclips!
Ya I know, I forgot...lol
When they say 'hiding on the top of the cliff' they meant standing in clear view.
how does it fly outside with this little size without the wind blowing it away...?
Impressive! I assume the production military versions will be camoflaged rather than stark black and white.
@1:02 "It quickly reaches a top speed of about 20 klicks". A klick is jargon for kilometer, so the top speed 20 kilometers? That makes no sense. Did the narrator mean it can move at 20 kilometers per hour or was he saying the maximum distance on one charge is 20 kilometers?
Take a look at multiplex´s funcopter, i know its larger but there was one smaller modified version of it
quite stealthy with that loud motor noise
electronic devices can be heard way better with recording equipment than with human ears. the noise is probably too bright pitched for adults to hear.
A very impressive implementation.
holy crap, that thing is compact
2:51 no military tech could ever leave such workshop
1:05 = about 20 Klicks is not a speed , but a 1 KM distance,
BUT 20 clicks per hour = 20Kph or over 12 miles per hour
Crazy how you can buy drones just as small if not smaller with a decent camera for around 35 bucks.
Is it possible to buy this? I build My own Fpv mashines, and the smallest i have is a camera at 1 gr. and a 5.8 Ghz Rx at the same wieght, and they are mounted on a Hubsan Nano which is about 15 grams, I was one of the first to Mount this system on a Nano quvadcopter, but its nothing compare to this beauty....:)
I wonder what the battery is made of and how big, current draw must be high?
Why costs one tens o thousands of dollar? I guess it's production costs are much less than 100 dollar. So are there only 10 of them produced and sold so far? Or is it kind of an "Apple" product - where I pay already the 2 to 5 times for the brand in comparison to other similar products.
$200,000. That's insane. You can buy a nano drone from AliExpress with a passible camera for $25. I have one with me right now in fact.
the black hornet has a normal camera on the front, one on the belly, and the second camera on the front is infrared.
for 200k you could walk into a chinese toy quad factory and tell them the specs and they'd build a dozen custom high quality nano copters that same day. fuck western govt and their over handed militarization desires
The price of this thing is clearly in the software, like many objects today. The hardware is not so expensive but the code is private so when buying one of these you pay for the algorithms...
This is well within the capabilities of Chinese drone makers. We might see similar or even better things available for maybe $200-$300 or so on Aliexpress in the near future if those makers find a market potential.
its a beautiful thing, how i wish we had a world of peace-driven individuals whose creativity and energy were exhausted in the creation of something new to make this world a better place with no wars....
its a pity that the developer himself argues how important his design was for a corporate war in Afghanistan,,,a war for financial gains.... Thats many of us are constrained to appreciate such invention....
Very nice drone
Now you can see Nano object with your eyes thats must be a miracle
