It’s just me and my husband and I can’t keep up with the house chores. It never ends. We have a small chicken farm and garden. That keeps me busy. You work, you’re raising 2 boys, you’re married, you have a garden, you have your Etsy and side selling jobs, and RUclips and you still clean your house. And you still have a smile on your face. Your doing a fine job!

I'm going to tell you what I did to my 18-year-old boys and I had four of them. When they would bring their dirty laundry to the washing machine area and did not attempt to do it I would take that dirty laundry basket back to their room and put it on their floor. After wearing dirty clothes for the second time they would go do their own laundry. Have fun with the boys.

Love you so much, Sophia. You always keep it real. You live a full, rich, busy life filled with your wonderful family, your doggies,
two jobs, an Etsy shop, a RUclips channel, and Instagram and you manage everything with such grace and humor. We all admire and look up to you so much. What's a little mess here and there? We all have them. Besides it's great fun to watch you whip things into shape. You are like a Conquistador of Chaos (only on a very small scale). Seriously though, we don"t judge you. We love you heaps and you always inspire.

Hi Sophia, thank you for the video - it was a hoot. At least you handled the basement with humour, whereas I look at my messy house with a sense of overwhelming “where do I start?”. I have depression and anxiety which makes the tasks seem monumental. When you talked about your boys ignoring their laundry it reminded me of when I was growing up. Life was very different in the 60s and 70s. A family of seven, we lived in a very small, 3 bedroom house in Australia, sharing one bathroom and toilet. By today’s standards, we had basic appliances and games (ie no dishwasher, clothes dryer, video games, etc). My sisters were good at avoiding work, like ironing, cleaning and dishes. Somehow they always disappeared when these things needed doing, leaving most of it for me to do. I am not complaining, it was life as we knew it back then. These days, it seems that the pressure is on the children with extra after-school and weekend activities, but it is never too late to learn some life skills. Take care and look after yourself!! 😘💕🇦🇺

Sophia dear, your house is not dirty. It has the same problem my house has always had: nobody picks up after themselves! I am 24 years older than you. I have a husband and two grown sons. One time I told the boys not to leave any of their things in the living room and it was 11pm at night and they left their shoes and books in the living room. I know it was crazy but I got so mad at them that I opened the front door and threw the shoes and books onto the front lawn. They had to go out and get their things. It felt so good. Haha

  • @dorisw5558

Edward is a grown man. He should be responsible for his own laundry and cleaning. He would have to be if he lived away from home despite college and job. My mom stopped doing my stuff when I was fifteen. And if the basement is left dirty after video games: no more video games. As easy as that.

    • @Sydneysider1310

Especially with Sophia's work load. I wouldn't have folded it - rather had Edward come down & take the entire lot back up to his room. If he doesn't want to fold it, fine, but store it in your own room!

I agree with you about having a clean house. It isn't like you got rats, bugs, or anything else.I can't hardly keep up and I don't work outside the home. I am disabled and live with my son who is 33 and my daughter who is 25. They both have jobs so they don't do alot of work at home. I have a bad foot so I just do what I can. I decided it's not all about a clean house. It's all about having a happy family. I think you do better than most people because you work outside the home and do Etsy, gardening, and many other things. I think you do a great job I think you will always be my favorite.

Took me a long time to learn that I'm not 'this is who I am', but rather 'this is who I choose to be'. Once I got that, I was able to make some serious changes that made my life more manageable and happy. As for kids....they get away with what we allow them to. You work way too hard and deserve more help. When my kids were little I would wash a couple of laundry loads in the morning before I left for work then throw them in the dryer as soon as I got home and then after dinner, when we watched a couple of tv shows as a family, I'd fold everything I'd washed in front of the tv using the coffee table to fold. I gave everyone their stack of clothes to put away before bed. It really helped me a lot.

Answer: because they don’t know where anything goes 😂😆.....( where are the lightbulbs to put in the socket? Where does the towels go? What Couch do the pillows go on ? Etc etc )
typical male responses 😂😆..... hence” a woman’s work is never done”

This is such an old fashioned comment and really just an excuse. Household chores are not "women's work". If that's the case, bringing-home-the-bacon is men's work. See what I mean? Three adults & one teenager in the house & the one with a demanding FT job is the main cleaner/cook/organiser/etc etc. It's simply not fair.

I totally agree with you. Unfortunately, men of a certain age bracket grew up in a home where their mother’s job was solely as homemaker and mom. They got used to the woman cleaning the house, cooking, washing clothes and taking care of the children. Now that their wife is working full time they have not adjusted their old reality to their current situation. Women usually wind up doing the former “traditional” roles plus their new wage earner role. There have been many surveys that have demonstrated that women usually wind up doing most of the household chores & child rearing even when working full time. Hence, many women are resentful of their dual roles and overwhelming duties. Many times men are totally unaware of the stress a woman faces trying to juggle it all. There are instances where the men get resentful when asked to help with chores because as a child they had no male role model that participated in the household duties. Or, They feel mowing the lawn or taking out the garbage is enough. The best scenario is when everyone pitches in, but unfortunately the reality is quite different. Sophia is a wonderful, talented person and Everyone’s situation is different. As time goes on hopefully our young men will help their wives more, especially in a dual wage earner home. Shared responsibilities makes life and relationships better. (To be totally fair, I have seen some men who step up to the plate and share household duties. The modern world certainly seems to have more challenges than the easier traditional years of yesterday where roles where clearly defined.(Not saying one is better than the other, but clearer role delineations). 😊👍🏻

You are just you ,you are real and you always keep things real and that is what we all love about you. I have people in my life that are judgemental about a clean house and I'm so over it anymore. Housework is a never ending job. I'm behind on your videos and it was another video I was watching and you were cleaning your kitchen and you told Scott that being an adult is way overrated lol lol I completely agree! I started telling people if you want to come see me come over anytime your always welcome but if your coming to see if my house is spotless then don't bother because more then likely its not gonna be lol Just like today for an example we are leaving in a few days for vacation and I need to do a tidy, vacuum and mop on the main floor of the house but hubby was out in the garage changing his breaks so I sat out there and chatted with him while he did it. Life is to short to not make memories. I'm slowly learning to let things go that are really not that important and just enjoy life. Thanks for sharing pieces of your life and family with us. Lots of love xoxoxox

Your career is just fascinating to me. 2) You have so much psychological knowledge, could you do "Dear Abby" types of question and answer videos? You are such a good teacher and are very common sense oriented. I'm sure me and everyone else that watches would be entertained if you took a few questions each week to answer. 3) Change the Etsy store to "Frenchy and Scotty"!

Right now I'm on a cleaning binge because I want to do it. A big difference. My plan is if I get each room really clean it will be easier to keep up. We'll see how that works. I can relate with getting something to put things in and it never works. I bought a basket for all the remotes in our den. The basket gets filled with junk and the remotes are still on the table! I bought a bowl for my son to put his keys, sunglasses and a few work accessories in and it's filled with junk and everything is on the table. See you're not the only one. Laundry...it just never ends. Right now my garden is my happy place and I'm going to enjoy the nice weather before winter comes around. The fact that your family and pets come first makes me a big fan of your channel. Enjoy!

I happened to run across a RUclips channel with videos on organizing. The maker was so organized every container was labelled and had its specific spot. Was it inspiring? Not at all! It felt like the organization system promoted would drain the life out of my life. Now, an organized and clean house is nice and comfortable, but there needs to be a balance. A real and worthwhile life has to be able to accommodate real people and real people make messes. No need to apologize and I have seen worse messes! I enjoyed your video.

I can totally relate to all of the above! My sons are 18 and 17 I’m repeatedly saying the same things about laundry, dishes, showers, toilet! I just love you guys and how real you and Scott are. Whom ever has anything negative to say about it can see me in the principals office. Lol!!

I enjoyed this video. It was just what I needed. I love what you said about a clean house. I struggle with depression so I struggle with getting things done. I am responsible for the home as well as the yards. I also struggle with watering the yards and flowerbeds. I have recently begun to make a flowerbed by my kitchen. Thus far I have put down some top soil and need to put down another bag. I also transplanted two spider plants and plan on doing one more. I was going to have decorations in my backyard, but I decided that I didn't need more to try to maintain and to make so I am not going to do that. I am struggling with getting rid of the weeds. I have four small areas where there are no weeds, but in one I keep getting a bit of nut grass popping up which I dig out. In one of the areas I found some old clay bricks buried. It was the 2nd area in the backyard that I found buried bricks which I dug up and disposed of because they were no good. Life is a struggle and I appreciate your sharing yours. I appreciate all that you do. I just wish I had your energy. Depression saps energy and I am 64 so that accounts for some of the loss of energy. I seem to get worn out easily, especially when it is hot.

Your house is great. I’m 70 years old and have down sized 5 times and I still cant do it. Started a Reno in my kitchen snd still not through. That means my kitchen is all over my house.

I feel i can say this...
You try . You TRY . In times past women churned , worked gardens for survival, took babies in the field. I side the house was tackled as well. Your circumstances also scream survival. You are trying to earn and do. So what if you neglect the basement. Is it important, not so much . Is your husband and boys LOVED... YES.. friend in my head Sofia. Yoyr doing well .. you mean a lot to a lit of people. Wr are on your side . Im better in sime ways worse in others .. yet .. and yet we battle on in our great challenges

Hi Sophia! I think you are being hard on yourself. It’s obvious laundry was backed up, that’s a regular chore that never ends! Plus a lot of the “clutter” was your side business items. If I could give a constructive criticism it would be to focus your time on posting those items on Etsy to get them out of your house before shopping for more. Maybe schedule some time to work on it. Or even make June a catch up month for that business. Obviously you have a lot going on and having more pile up on the “to-do” will just overwhelm you. Basement looks great!!! I grew up with 3 brothers and they did the exact same thing with the laundry!!!! Haha grab what they need from the basement and leave the rest 😂

you don't have to make excuses for living your life your way - you have a very full one and if someone says "she was a lovely person" when I pass, I will figure I lived a good life....and I know they will say this about you...enjoy your life - you are an inspiration to me - I loathe housework and do the bare minimum to not be a slob....that's why I decluttered - less stuff is less to clean! Cheers!

I don’t think anyone thinks your house is dirty. Things get messy as you work and live your lives. Every house looks like that until they tidy.

I really enjoy all your videos. One cleaning up tools would b just fine. I enjoy you n your videos. If the boys can't help keep the area clean then they just have to deal with how mom had to do with all the game wires is what I would tell them. U all r a great family and Scott has been doing a wonderful job on your videos. I liked the tempo of the music when u were cleaning and the spill when u first came down to the basement was very entertaining.

Yes...there are times that I get the cleaning excitement in me and I go through the whole house cleaning but not everyday.

Hello. About Edward wrecking chairs. I have a very tall, 20 year old son. He also breaks chairs. I think they rock backwards on the back legs and destroy them. Don't know how many times I have heard a bang in his room, he comes out and says, "'I fell off the chair"'. lol
