🤦🏻♀️ I'm a pharmacist... you CAN take a PPI long term if your doctor prescribes it (still, do your own research and advocate for yourself). There are legitimate reasons to have to use it long-term (esophagitis, ulcers, GERD, etc). but Austin's right; you may have to taper off after long-term use instead of stopping out of the blue, due to a chance of increased acid production. however, insomnia isn't a common side effect of omeprazole... if anything, it may HELP with sleep if a person HAS acid reflux waking them up/keeping them awake. anywho ... PSA: just bc it's available over the counter doesn't mean it's necessarily safe. (also, Ws for QT making it to Canada yaaay!) 💖 *edited to fix/include info
i was looking for a comment talking about this lol. i am 21 and i was on omeprazole and then pantoprazole and it really affected my body. i had no idea that your body gets dependent on PPIs until i started doing some research! bottom line is always do your own research before taking any medication. its so important to be informed on what you are taking instead of blindly trusting your doctor. they definitely don’t always tell you everything, and medication doesn’t always have to be the solution.

I feel like this episode was a mess but in the best way possible. It was like listening to my adhd brain. Random thoughts and jokes were thrown around and I kept laughing.
