In this video, I'll teach you a simple hack to gain more control over your fluid pours. This fluid art acrylic pouring hack is made from thing you most likely have on hand!! Have you ever run into half of your amazing cells falling off the edge? Well friends, now you can keep your paint on the canvas with my signature trademark "Corner Catcher". This video teaches you my process for controlling your paint during your fluid pour with an easy DIY tool. Hey friends! In this video I'm going to show you a super simple hack on how to control your fluid pours. It's probably already stuff that you have on hand. My followers and I have deemed this the corner catcher
because I place it against the corners of my canvas to catch my paint and that's what controls the pour. So, what I do is I take just a piece of cardboard. Could be scrap cardboard or recycling, you need an exacto knife and I'm gonna show you a super simple trick with some shipping tape. So the first thing you want to do is look at your cardboard, the cardboard runs a certain way and it bends easier in one way than it does the other way. So make sure that your cardboard is lined up so that it's easy to bend. Next you just want to take your excato knife and according to how big your canvases or the piece that you're pouring is how big you want to make it but I don't measure. I just kind of cut a
piece that's a long rectangle and that makes it easy to kind of wrap around the corners. So once that's done you can see, that if I
get it in the camera my cardboard is running one way. Now shipping tape helps you to reuse this piece over and over. So what I do is I just take a piece of shipping tape and I cover one side make sure it's pressed down and that it's overlapping. So you want it hanging over your cardboard and then take another piece and stick it to the other side so
that the pieces there were overhanging touch and they make a seal. You don't have to worry about how much it hangs over because we'll trim it before we use it. So now I have a piece of cardboard, it's covered in shipping tape which then makes it semi waterproof and I end up
just wiping it off after my pour. I trim off the sides because those ends
can get in the way and by the way if you don't feel comfortable with exacto knives you can certainly use scissors. All right so now
that it's all trimmed I'm also going to show you just a quick example on how I use it. Everybody sees it in all my pours, it's one of my signature trademarks! The "Corner Catcher", totally great for controlling your paint.

So technically what you do is when you're pouring you just kind of wrap it around the corners. So let's give it a shot. I'm gonna just pour this canvas with a solid color for simplicity. Just to kind of show you how this works. It's not super hard. Sometimes the coordination of your
hands gets a little funky at first but you'll get into your own groove on how to use it. So what I do is after I get my gloves on, I'll just pour this canvas with some black paint and if you've used this trick before I

So I wrap it around the side and what I do is I let the paint run. What happens is the cardboard catches the paint and it doesn't spill over. I always tilt it back towards me to get the paint a little away from the edge. When you pull your cardboard away it'll stick a little bit and that will help you cover your edges so you don't have to worry about the paint overflowing on to the edges because when it sticks

Stargazerbright agreed! But I have to admit, there are time where I don’t use this technique and the immediate assumption of others is that my run off is wasted. There are actually so many inventive ways to us run off paint once it’s dried. I almost feel as though maybe there isn’t enough education about what can be done with it, that I feel like maybe it’ll should be a future tutorial here. Thanks for the support!! Hey girl, you do beautiful work and have tons of helpful ideas! I do have one unhappy criticism though. So you now have multiple videos up where the advertised picture on your video is not what you actually do in your video. This video had it's advertised pic as this really cool looking ... Like lava cells red on black. Your video title didn't say it was just a video about backing the cardboard edging tool so it becomes deceptive girl. I WASN'T one of the folks who left you a thumbs down but I'm betting part of why those people did that is because they were expecting to see a video about the cover picture that looks amazing and instead got a video about cutting and laminating a cardboard strip lol. It is not appreciated because honestly there are millions of hours of amazing content on youtube and it can be very overwhelming when we finally have time in our busy day (right now my 3 year old is asleep on my lap for about 40 minutes) and we have to decide what to spend our time watching. Time is precious and if the content of the video doesn't match or even have anything to do with the advertised cover picture for the video that drew us in in the first place, then you kinda robbed us of the choice on what we wanted to use our time watching. 7 minutes might not seem like a waste to you, but when you look at all the amazing fluid artists out there, and then add up all the minutes of all their amazing videos you want to watch, that is a hefty investment of personal time. I need to be able to trust you with my time if I am going to invest my time into your channel you know? So please consider what picture yo use as the front of your videos carefully so we can decide honestly if we want to watch them.
